"Capture ... region?" I clenched my hand. "What happened to it that way?"
"We don't know it clearly" replied two girls who looked similar to each other, alternately speaking. "We've only read about it in the elder's diary that we found in this house, there's no other information than that and some less obvious pieces of information."
I looked at them in wonder. "You really don't know?"
They're shaken. "The event is long gone. Tim, the oldest of us, was dead before we could even ask about it."
"What about Whitney?" ask me to break my mind. "Chloe said she was the last remaining vampire leader. Did he experience the same thing?"
Chloe nodded. "They're going through the same thing, maybe worse than us."
"Better?"
"Our remaining members are fewer than you," replied someone suddenly in a familiar voice. "That's what he meant, more or less."
I and Chloe and the others immediately turned to the source of the foreign voice, finding the door was already wide open with a casual dressed man standing there.
"Will?"
The guy smiled at me hearing my greeting. "Hi, Allison. We meet again," he said. "Sorry for stealing your talk."
I looked at him in wonder, not understanding why someone who had met a few times could suddenly meet again at a time like this. "Why are you here? Not that...." I turned to the people around me, who suddenly looked alert. "What's wrong with you guys?"
They seemed not to listen to my question, every pair of their eyes fixed on the guy as if seeing an enemy that was dangerous for their safety.
"How did you get here?" ask Chloe who is standing closest to me. His voice sounded so calm even though his arms started to tremble threateningly. "Where do you know our place?"
Will raised both his hands as if caught doing the wrong thing. "I'm sorry for coming without permission" he said, inexplicably giving a meaningful look at Emily who seemed more interested in the floor at her feet. "There's something I want to tell you, some things that are very important to your flock, to be precise."
"What do you mean?"
"I came to help you like I told you and Emily."
"My player?" chloe asked in surprise. "When are we talking?"
"You disconnected the phone before Will finished talking, Chloe," Emily said. "And, by the way, I allowed him to come to our meeting."
Chloe immediately turned her head towards Emily with a look of disbelief. "You allowed him to come without our consent?"
"I forgot to tell you, this was completely unintentional," Emily replied as she circulated a reassuring look at the others. "Will also said he wanted to help. I'll be his guarantor."
"What's the evidence?" ask someone whose voice I don't recognize.
I turned my head back and saw a guy walking closer to us in slow steps. I immediately recognized him as the brother of Malcolm because they saw their facial features are almost similar, even now more similar because the expression attached to his face exactly with Malcolm's face when looking at me sharply.
"Dave—"
"I need reliable evidence to believe it" she said, cutting Emily's speech. "I can't just trust him."
Emily shut her mouth after that.
"I can give you proof" Will said calmly. "But you have to get close to me if you want to see it more clearly, or you can also allow others to see it for yourself in your place. I'm handing you the decision."
"Me, me" I said unconsciously.
They all immediately turned to look at me and gave a fixed gaze that made me feel uncomfortable again.
"Is something wrong?"
The man turned his eyes to me, his eyes inexplicably expressing objection, but saying nothing about my actions. The others looked at each other and turned their gazes to Emily, who was more interested in the floor under her feet. I don't know why I'm upset about their behavior.
"Alright, it's okay," the guy said in the end.
"Yes. We will accompany you" replied the two twin girls who had previously answered my question earlier.
The others just nodded in agreement and immediately gave way for the twins to get close to me and hook their arms to my arms. We walked towards Will and finally stopped the pace after leaving a distance of one meter with him.
Will said nothing in response. His hand immediately moved to unbutton his two shirt so that it displayed the entire pale neck and a small part of his black shirt.
"Can you guys find anything?" will finally looked at us.
I frowned, swept my gaze at his face and then crept down his pale neck which revealed some faint veins that looked blue. It looked quite a contrast to her skin, which somehow looked fragile, so I felt that was what she meant.
"You haven't had a drink?" replied Jean flat with a frown in wonder. "Your neck looks terrible."
"You look paler than usual" Jena replied almost simultaneously. "You and your partner don't .. do that?
Will smiled slightly hearing their answer. "true."
"How long has it been?" ask Dave, stay in his place.
"A week or ten days, maybe."
"Isn't that not good for you and your partner?" ask a girl standing next to Dave, Grace. "I heard that each of your partners would exchange blood once a week for survival."
"Indeed," Will replied briefly without any more explanation. "Is this enough evidence?"
Dave looked silent before nodding stiffly. He clearly still did not believe the evidence the vampire provided.
"You can come in, Will," said Chloe to take over.
"Thank you" replied Will, buttoning his shirt back up and stepping into the house.
"Wait." I blocked his path with my hands and looked at him closely. "Who are you really?"
Will returned my gaze with an unreadable look. "You can't feel anything familiar about me?"
I was silent to hear his question. For a while I felt Will looked older as we looked at each other, his eyes seemed to hold all sorts of memories that had long since passed, making me shudder a little. I can faintly smell her body, which is beginning to feel as boasting as Whitney.
"You ... vampire?"
He's nodding.
"But in the hospital I felt nothing from you, unlike what I experienced with Whitney. Why can?"
"Because at that time you didn't know and before that you still think of me as a human being, unlike Whitney, so I'm easier to manipulate your sense of smell."
I was silent to hear the answer, something I still did not understand. Unknowingly I also removed my handle from the door so Will could step in.
Jean and Jenna who were next to me finally moved from the front door following Will, who was now coming together with the others, taking me who was still confused in arm's arm.
A few minutes later Chloe walked into the gathering room and handed Will a full glass of dark red liquid.
"Thank you."
Chloe simply nodded her head in response.
"So what are you going to tell us?" ask Emily who is now sitting next to Will.
We around him also noticed it. Dave and Grace also joined forces and took place near the entrance to the dining room, leaning on either side with an expressionless face.
"Whitney will be acting in seven days. He's currently searching for your base and preparing to attack" Will said. "He's not going to mess around again this time."
"Is this because of you?"
Will grimaces slowly. "Some, but some of it is because of Allison," her eyes suddenly turned to me. "He's planning to avenge you, Allison."
"Why me?" my question, don't understand. I've just joined a world that feels like a fantasy movie that I've watched quite a lot, what's my fault for experiencing all of this?
"It involves your grandfather and Whitney. They're the first cause of all this, Allison."
