Waiting for Love for Me

Waiting for Love for Me
71 I AM YOUR HOME

It has not been a month since Dimas and Alila have lived a happy home life. Their days are always filled with love words and expressions of love that they always get used to, in order to continue to create closeness and warmth in their relationships throughout time.

"Al, we're staying at the old house?" Take Dimas between them for breakfast.

"With the weekend now, we can spend time resting there." Continue Dimas with his hands are still busy feeding the wife beside him.

Alila took a spoon from Dimas' hand and fed her husband. He was thinking about something, but still hesitating. And that was captured by Dimas.

"What's up, Al?" Dimas' gaze was full of searching.

Alila was silent. He lowered his head to stir the remaining rice on the plate that Dimas was holding.

"Mmm.., it's okay. I'm full, Dim."

Dimas took back the spoon from Alila's hand, and with his plate he put it on the table.

His two outstretched hands held Alila's left and right hands on her lap.

"I..."

Alila remained lowered and did not dare to look at her husband's face. There was such a great guilt enveloping his heart. He wanted to admit it but he was afraid it would hurt Dimas' feelings.

Dimas let out a slightly rough breath. He was very worried about his wife and was angry because Alila did not want to be frank with him.

Released Alila's hand and she gently cupped the wife's face with both hands. Alila was still trying to avoid eye contact with her husband but Dimas immediately raised his face so they exchanged glances.

"Say now, Al." Dimas' voice rose not out of anger, but out of concern for his wife who had only been silent since.

He knew there was something Alila was hiding at the moment but he did not know what it was yet. And Dimas can't wait to find out.

A moment later Alila closed her eyes, holding back the tears that were already about to drip.

"I-I'm sick, Dim..."

Alila's defense collapsed, finally she shed her tears in Dimas' arms that still did not understand his wife's short answer. He could only gently rub Alila's back to calm her down. He let Alila cry.

(illness? What are you sick with, Al? Don't scare me.)

After Alila began to calm down and no longer sobbing, Dimas carried her body and sat her on the sofa of the family room. Dimas sat down beside his wife, turned his body to face Alila and continued to hold her hands together.

"Now tell me, Al. What the hell is going on?" One warm kiss on Alila's forehead made the woman take a deep breath before starting her story.

"I'm sorry, Dim. Yesterday afternoon, after you drove me back to the office, I went alone to the hospital."

"Al, you...." Alila's one hand was raised covering Dimas' lips, signalling that her husband would not continue his curiosities.

Dimas. He held back from asking again even though his heart was getting riled up and impatient.

"There's some kind of tumor in my reproductive organs, which has made me feel a lot of pain in my lower abdomen lately..."

Alila's speech was interrupted by Dimas's voice which was quite loud from shock mixed with panic instantly.

"Tumor...??" And Alila nodded weakly.

"Cysts. There's a big cyst in my ovary..." The crying broke back.

His body weakened and fell in Dimas' arms pushed back. Dimas held Alila tightly. Real tight.

His chest felt very tight and rumbling, wanting to explode but seemed to be held back by something heavy and could not be pushed aside. His heart trembled violently as so great a fear burst into his niche.

No doubt, the tears are falling. Flowing slowly, drop by drop drenched both of his cheeks.

"Why, Al? Why didn't you say it from the beginning? Why do you endure your pain alone and hide it from me?" Questions streaked out from Dimas' lips with a face full of sadness.

Alila did not answer. The crying still controlled his emotions at this moment. Crying, that was all she wanted to satisfy, after a few days of yesterday holding it in her heart.

Dimas wiped his tears violently, not wanting to look weak when his wife needed more strength to dispel her fears.

"Never act like this again, Al. Don't burden yourself. Now you are my wife, I am your husband, your priest. You are my responsibility, Al. I'm your home, your place to go home and share all the stories. I'm your shoulder, where you lean and take off all the trouble."

Hearing her husband's words, Alila grew sobbing and felt guilty. She shouldn't have hidden this fact from Dimas who was already her husband.

"I'm sorry, Dim. I'm just afraid I'll make you sad and disappointed. I'm afraid I'm afraid I won't be able to make you happy anymore because I can't give you an....."

"Sst...!!!" Dimas' loud voice stopped Alila's speech. One of the man's index fingers was stuck in the middle of his wife's sweet lips.

"Never say anything that's not certain to happen, Al!"

Still trying to regulate her sobbing breath, Alila nodded her head. He took a deep breath so that his heart would calm down.

Dimas turned his gaze down, to Alila's stomach. The stomach looks flat, there is absolutely no abnormality in the eyes of the layman.

Slowly, very slowly he touched the stomach, at the bottom, as his wife had said. Somehow his heart rippled with pain at once imagining something painful was inside there, inside the belly of his beloved woman.

Alila nodded slowly as she put her hands together on her husband's slow-moving hand stroking her belly smooth.

"The pain is drowning. Not always felt but often also attacked suddenly..."

"Tell me everything, Al." Pinta Dimas's.

One week earlier, Alila had woken up with a faint sense of dizziness that had hit her head. She saw her husband still asleep after their unification last night.

(What's wrong with me? I don't usually have a headache like this.).

Slowly Alila pulled her head from the top of Dimas's chest and released her arms wrapped around her husband's stomach.

"I love you, Dim."

He kissed Dimas' forehead before sliding his body down from the bed.

After putting on her clothes, Alila walked towards the bathroom. But once inside, his stomach felt very nauseous and wanted to vomit something.

"Hukk.., hueekk.., aahhh..." His body was limp for a while until his legs were no longer strong enough to concentrate his own body. He sagged squatting and leaned against the bathroom wall.

Silent for a moment, Alila closed her eyes dispelling the pain in her head and restored her strength. Suddenly she remembered something that made her rethink her pain.

(But could it be this fast.??)

After feeling stronger, she immediately took a bath and went to bed, then came out of the bathroom to wake Dimas up.

A few steps before reaching the edge of the bed, Alila stopped and gripped her stomach as she felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.

(Aaahh.., why can this hurt. My stomach hurts so much.).

The woman bit her lips to endure the pain so as not to let out a sound.

(It's been a few days since my period was supposed to be. Dimas and I got married two weeks after my period last month, which means I was entering my fertile years. Is this the sign.?)

Once the pain subsided, Alila approached Dimas and woke him up. It didn't take long, Dimas had woken up and taken his early-day kiss from his wife.

"Good morning, my dear..."

Dimas kissed Alila's forehead then immediately got dressed and rushed into the bathroom.

Alila began to ignore the pain that was uncertain it came. She chose to focus more on her work in the office and on her husband whom she should serve well every day.

Several days passed with similar pain that came with uncertain time. And every day he hid it from Dimas. He hoped that the pain would gradually go away on its own.

Until at last, yesterday afternoon he was again attacked by a very severe pain in his lower abdomen, much more pain than the previous days. This time Alila was so unable to hold it back that she decided to go to the hospital alone.

(Why is the pain increasing every day? Should I tell Dimas now?)
