As the sun started to shine, Alila was cleaning herself on the bed assisted by a nurse. Dimas and Alano waited outside.
On Alano's return from the early morning walk around the hospital, he brought breakfast for himself and his future sister-in-law, who he bought at a food stall across from the hospital. They enjoyed breakfast together outdoors precisely on a long bench available, while waiting for Alila to finish cleaning up.
After breakfast, Alano will return home to take a bath and change clothes while picking up her parents. Dimas left his house keys to Alano. He asked for help to get some change of clothes in his room, because he wanted to continue to accompany Alila in the hospital.
Twenty-five minutes later, the nurse who was helping Alila had walked out of the room. Dimas and Alano immediately entered the room. Alila had changed clothes despite wearing a patient uniform.
His face looked fresher even though it was still pale. His right hand held the comb the nurse had taken from his bag. Slowly his hands moved up and down tidying up strands by strands of his hair that was scattered.
Dimas approached and stood on the right side of the bed. His right hand stopped Alila's hand movements making the woman look at him. Without saying anything, Dimas' hand took over the comb that Alila was holding and then gently combed her lover's hair.
Very carefully without wanting to hurt her, she tried to untangle a few strands of hair that were tangled with her hands, then tidied them up with a comb. Make the hair hemisphere on the left side and then return to comb it until perfectly arranged.
"Thank you, Dim." Alila said with a blushing smile on her face.
His heart trembled as Dimas' simple little attention had managed to develop his feelings into more and more love and affection.
"Do you want me to tie it?" Asked Dimas while tidying up the haircut that covered Alila's forehead.
"Let it be like this first." Answer Alila.
Dimas walked slowly to the left side where Alila's bag was tucked away on a small stool beside her bed. He put Alila's comb into the bag, then returned to Alila's right.
"Mom, Mom, I'm home now. I'm gonna stop by Dimas' house first."
"Yes. Careful, Lan. After this I will call Papa Dewa first and explain everything to him."
Dimas nodded his head and stared at Alano's departure until it disappeared behind the door of the room that was closed again, leaving himself and Alila both in it.
Dimas saw a tray of food and drinks for Alila's breakfast, which a nurse had delivered before Alila cleaned up.
"You have breakfast, Al."
Dimas moved the tray onto the folding table which he had stretched with the legs of the table on either side of Alila's thigh. Then she sat down on the edge of the bed, faced off with her beloved woman and helped Alila drink a little warm water before starting her breakfast.
Dimas took half a serving of fine rice and poured it into a bowl containing spinach vegetables. Do not forget first he cut small chicken dishes and fried tempeh available.
Once ready, he began to take a spoonful of rice and vegetables and feed it to Alila's mouth, after which he sucked pieces of chicken and tempe as a complement.
"Eat a lot, Al. To keep your body energized and recover quickly."
Alila nodded and tried to enjoy her breakfast even though she felt that it did not match the taste of the typical cuisine of the hospital.
"Not good, huh?" Said Dimas with a faint smile looking at Alila who was chewing and swallowing her food with a shriveled forehead.
"It feels bland and a little bitter on my tongue." Alila kept trying to finish her meal little by little.
Dimas was very patient and painstakingly fed Alila. Sometimes he flicked Alila's hair back so as not to disturb her eating. Several times he also rubbed Alila's lips with the available eating tissue, to clean the food splashes around the tiny lips of his future wife.
"You've always been like a child, a straw everywhere..." The word Dimas makes Alila
flushed but still trying to dodge it.
"Your bribe is too big, my mouth is not enough to hold it.." Alila pursed her lips in annoyance.
"Why are your lips advancing so? Do I want to kiss?" Dimas watched Alila's lips which always teased his desire.
"Can't..!" Alila looked at Dimas with her eyes as she covered her lips with her fingers.
"Why can't it? Don't you want it?"
"You said it yourself, Dim. Four weeks to go.."
"So you're also waiting for him until you count him?"
"I'm just repeating your words."
Dimas silent. The last mouthful for Alila was done before they clashed with each other. She took a glass of water for Alila and with her right hand she helped Alila drink it as a cover for her breakfast this morning.
A piece of tissue had Dimas in his hand. She sat back on the edge of the bed, then rubbed Alila's lips to dry her lips after drinking water. Not using the tissue he was holding, but directly with his own fingers, then he cleaned his hands with the tissue he prepared.
"As I've always told you, I want to have you, Al. And I'll wait until that time comes, when we'll feel and enjoy everything together."
Dimas ended his expression with a soft kiss on Alila's forehead, which made the woman close her eyes and hold back her cries.
As Dimas let go of his kiss, he found Alila who started to open her eyes and looked at him in silence.
Alila's right hand moved to take Dimas' right hand and bring him fused in her lap. His left hand that was still pressed with needles and infusion hose also piled on top of Dimas's hand.
"What's up, Al? What are you thinking?"
Alila shook her head. His two eyes continued to stare unblinkingly at Dimas who was also still staring at him.
His mind wandered far into the past, where he and Dimas were only friends. The friend he loved from the beginning of their meeting and unexpected because a group task made the two of them together and became close until since then to establish a five-year friendship with Tama, Sandy and Nayla.
Romantic friendship because there is love in it. Yes, his love for Dimas who always accompanied his days with Dimas, without the man noticing.
His love for Dimas that makes him survive to stay close to him even though his heart is often hurt because of the prank that Dimas deliberately did just to play around with the many women who approached him.
It used to be that he used to wonder, if only Dimas would play around with him, having a relationship without love with him like he did with other women, he said, he would gladly accept and live it even though he knew it was just a falsehood.
But fate says something else. The reality that happened was far more beautiful than his dreams. Without the need for games, without the need for falsehood and pretense, fate unites their hearts with a truly real love present in Dimas's heart for him, just like his love for the man that had been stored tightly in his heart all this time.
It is fate that finally embodies Alila's dream of a real bond of love for her, though she has to wait for him for so long to get true love for her. And it turns out that she got that love from Dimas, the man she had loved all along.
"Thank you for your love for me, Dim."
"Say what's up, Al?" Urge Dimas.
Dimas' left hand was fused over Alila's and her right. Now their two hands have fused together and are grasping each other.
"There's nothing, Dim. I'm just remembering the past. You and I were just friends. Long ago you and I were always together with no bond of love like this."
Alila paused her speech and let out a long, deep sigh. Trying to hold tightness in his chest because it remembers the long waiting times first.
"Then, to wish to have you, I didn't dare, Dim. Although I often fantasize and dream about me and you being united, but even though I do not dare to think about the possibility of actually being yours. I'm afraid I'd be disappointed if I dared to do all that, Dim."
"I am waiting, but I dare not wait on your behalf. In my prayer, I only plead for real love to be present for me, without daring to mention your name in my plea."
"I pray for you at all times, but I pray for your happiness, not for you to be mine. Really I just want you to always be happy, Dim."
Dimas parsed their hands into two grips, then brought them together towards him. Then he kissed them one by one and put them on Alila's lap.
"You are my happiness, Al. I'm always happy with you. Just with you."
Dimas took off their hands. Now both of his hands grabbed Alila's body and embraced her lovingly. Alila replied, hugging Dimas' waist with her right hand followed by her left.
Hugs that warm each other and calm their hearts. Two people who love each other and want to always make each other happy.
