As he promised yesterday, this morning Dimas invited Alila to invite him to enjoy their time together.
At eight o'clock they had arrived at the new beach they had been to before Dimas went to Bandung. The atmosphere is still quiet. Only a few people were seen swimming on the beach and some were playing water on the beach.
"We're going there, Al. To a shady place."
Dimas took Alila by the hand, taking her to walk to the side of the beach that was still filled with large trees that could protect them from the direct sunlight.
They sit on one of the unique seats that comes from a former small boat that was placed upside down under some existing trees.
From where they sit, they can enjoy the beautiful view of the beach and the open sea.
"Al, I want to ask you something."
"Yes?"
Alila looked at Dimas who had been staring at her first. Both of their eyes were equally locked in that gaze for a moment.
"I used to ask you, but you don't want to talk about it."
Alila was still waiting for what Dimas would ask her. Dimas was hesitant to continue his question. She was afraid that Alila's reply would make her heart disappointed.
"Al, right now is there anyone else in your heart? Besides me..."
"Nothing, Dim." Alila answered with certainty.
"What about my question at the time? About someone you have in your heart, someone you still look forward to, someone you have loved.."
Dimas waited for Alila's reply with a thumping heart. While Alila let out a long sigh hearing the question from Dimas.
"Dim, ever since you asked me for a chance, then from then on in my heart there is only your heart."
(Even long before that, in my heart there was only you, Dim.)
Dimas breathed a sigh of relief at Alila's reply.
"l.. There's something I want to tell you."
Dimas began to regulate his breathing, calming himself down and convincing his heart to state everything.
"Thank you for the opportunity you gave me. Because of that opportunity, I can learn to dive into my own heart, find out what I really feel for you."
"I try to understand how I feel about you, even when I have to be separated and away from you, I keep looking for answers to my growing sense of longing, as well as my deepening love for you, Al."
Alila remained silent listening to everything Dimas said. He did not dare to look at Dimas. His heart continued to pound, fretting for what Dimas would say after this.
"Al, look at me."
Dimas turned his body to face Alila, making Alila also turn her face right face to face Dimas. Now they have united their views.
Alila's hand was in the warm grasp of Dimas' hand. He could feel the tremors of Dimas' hands implying his nervousness.
"I'm in love with you, Al."
Alila attached her gaze, trying to find the truth within Dimas's eyes that still continued to look at her gently and deeply.
"I don't know since when I started feeling it, Al. Maybe it's because we're too close and we've been together too often, so when the feeling is present I haven't noticed."
"But maybe you know better, how I feel about you, Al. Because I'm not a smart person to hide things. I'm also used to saying everything to you."
"I love you, Al."
Dimas' hand grips tightened as he said that sacred sentence.
"Dim, a-i...."
Because Alila was so nervous that she lost the courage to answer the statement of love from Dimas.
"Don't force yourself to say something you don't want to say, Al."
"I just want to express all my feelings to you. And that I did. I won't force you to answer or accept my feelings right now."
"Looking at you near me and being happy with me is enough for me, Al. I'll always keep you company and look after you like all this time."
Dimas stood up without letting go of his hand.
"Guide me for a walk."
His hand pointed towards the beach.
Alila stood up and followed Dimas' footsteps towards the shoreline. Once there they removed their footwear and pulled their trousers up to the bottom of the knee.
Dimas again grabbed Alila's hand and held it. They walk on wet sand because they are swept by the waves alternately.
The occasional pounding of the waves touching their feet caused a sensation as if they were dragged to a deeper beach. And at such a time, Alila's one hand immediately hugged Dimas' arm with all her might, making Dimas hold her even tighter.
"You scared?"
"I love the beach. But I can't swim."
Alila put on her pouting face until Dimas widened his smile.
(You're always adorable with all your behavior, Al.)
Dimas let go of his hand, changed to wrap his hand around Alila's waist, hugging her from the side.
"You're safe with me, Al."
The bigger waves hit their feet again. The frightened Alila immediately hugged Dimas with both hands. Their position was getting more intimate as Alila hid her face in Dimas' chest.
Alila could hear Dimas's rapid heartbeat. As infected, Alila also felt her heart racing with a sense of tightness in her chest.
He pulled his body from Dimas' embrace, turning his gaze to Dimas's face that was still staring at him gently.
"Dim..."
Alila's breath increasingly hunted withstanding the turmoil in her increasingly unbearable heart.
"I love you too, Dim.."
Dimas's facial sharpness changed immediately. He was shocked and could not believe what he had just heard.
"Al. is that true?"
"In this state of fear, can I lie, Dim.."
Dimas said no more words. He held Alila into his arms.
"Thank you, Al. I love you."
In Dimas' arms, Alila smiled happily. There was a sense of relief in his heart when all the feelings he had expressed to the owner of his heart all along.
The waves that touched his feet no longer felt him. Her fear vanished changing the warmth of Dimas' embrace that calmed her heart.
Shortly thereafter Dimas let go of his embrace. Both of his hands were still clasping Alila's hands tightly. He looked at the face of the woman he loved.
"I.."
"Yes?"
"You're beautiful."
The first time Dimas dared to praise a woman. For the first time, Alila was embarrassed by a man's praise.
"And you're mine."
Alila was silent. Just continued to stare at Dimas' serious face as he said so.
"I don't need your fight, Dim."
'But you like it, Al."
"No. Who said that?"
"I. Your hue can't lie to me, Al."
Dimas pulled his body from beside Alila. Now he's standing right behind her. Both of her hands were coiled around Alila's waist, hugging her from behind.
Alila's heart trembled violently, her chest seemed to want to blow up something very tight and heavy. His breathing roar was back above normal while feeling Dimas' body fuse behind his body.
When the waves came back, Alila's hand unconsciously held the hand of Dimas who hugged her. He threw his face to the side with his eyes closed in fear.
"Don't be afraid, Al. I'm with you."
Dimas tightened his embrace on Alila, with Alila's hand holding her hand. Her head slightly lowered towards that pretty face, then in a soft voice she whispered in Alila's ear.
"I love you, Al. You're mine."
