At seven in the morning Dimas called Alila. Just a regular voice call, not a video call. Although they want to, but Dimas is worried if they meet face to face through the video, it will make them even more sad.
Dimas called Alila when he reached the airport waiting room.
"Al."
"Yes, Dim. Have you reached the airport?"
"Yes. In the waiting room."
For a moment they both fell silent. Alila tried to hold back her tears. Although it will not be seen by Dimas, but the crying will make his voice different and Dimas will definitely be able to guess it.
Dimas himself repeatedly sighed heavily to stop the tightness in his chest.
"Dim."
"Yes, Al?"
"Take care of your health."
"Yes, Al. You too, don't be lazy to eat."
Alila smile. He remembers delaying eating. If there is Dimas, he is the one who always reminds and invites him to eat. Tomorrow, who will remind him? Should alarm?
"Al, don't delay your meal. I don't want your stomach in trouble anymore and you're sick."
Dimas repeated his request.
"Yes, Dim. I'll remember it."
"Al, do you remember my request?"
Alila smiled again considering Dimas' request when they were at the mall yesterday.
"I won't forget it, Dim."
"Tell me now."
"You don't believe me, Dim? You doubt my memory?"
Alila almost cried if Dimas did not immediately correct his words.
"I'm sorry, Al. Please don't be angry, don't cry. I'm not gonna ask him. I believe you."
Alila adjusted her constricted breath from almost crying.
(It feels like this when you're away. Trivia can be a trigger for problems.).
Across the phone there, Dimas had already ruffled his hair out of regret for what he said that almost made Alila angry with him.
(I don't like being far away like this. One word can be misunderstood.).
"Al, don't forget me."
"You don't forget me either, Dim."
"Don't find anyone else to fill my place, Al."
"Don't look for someone else to replace me, Dim."
"I'm gonna miss you, Al."
"I must have missed you, too, Dim."
"I love you, Al."
"I love you too, Dim."
The..!! Alila covered her mouth with her hand. He surprised himself with his last words, because from earlier he had retorted to follow Dimas's words.
As for Dimas, he smiled with satisfaction from being able to hear Alila say affection to him.
"Thank you, Al. I hold your words and will always remember, to strengthen me when I can't be with you."
Alila was still speechless not wanting to answer Dimas. He regretted having expressed his feelings without her knowing. He should be able to resist and admit it wholeheartedly when they meet and face each other, not in the distance and can not look at each other like now.
"Al, I'm moving on to a video call yeah, just for a second."
"All right."
For the next second, they were both staring at the screen of the phone that kept on burning brightly.
Either because of the incident that just happened or because of whatever it was, Alila felt ashamed to see herself. Her face was red and she looked nervous.
Dimas actually smiled broadly at Alila's adorable face.
(I will miss this beautiful sight, Al.)
"Al, where's your smile?"
Questions that Dimas often asked Alila.
"Didn't you take her away with you from last night..?!"
"Oh yes, I forgot. Now I'm gonna give it all back to you so your face won't be flat again like that."
Alila looked back at her own face in the upper corner of the screen. It was true that his face still looked cold with no expression.
He looked back at the main screen, there was Dimas and his faint smile waiting there. Alila immediately carved a smile on her lips that made Dimas also widen his smile.
Alila secretly did a screenshot, just as Dimas's face revealed a big smile. He smiled happily.
Without realizing it, Dimas had already done the same with him. He took a screenshot of himself as he started smiling earlier.
"When have you been so good at talking like this, Dim? I know you're cold, even smiling rarely."
"I told you, everything changed because of you, Al. Ever since I saw you as a grown woman, no longer as a friend."
Alila stared at Dimas's face on her phone screen.
(Am I to you now more than a friend, Dim?)
"What time does your plane leave?"
Alila shifted the topic.
"Half nine."
Alila glanced at the digital clock on her phone screen. Time is approaching at the breakup. Alila looked back at Dimas's face that filled the main screen.
"Dim.." Speech interrupted.
"If you have something to say, say it now, Al. I have to get on the plane soon."
Alila tried to calm her heart that began to fret counting down the time that was running.
He locked his eyes towards the screen. For a moment he wanted to enjoy this moment.
"I'm waiting for you."
Dimas smilingly looked at Alila's face on her phone screen.
"I'll come back for you."
At the same time, a loud call was heard for passengers on the plane to Bandung.
Dimas' heart trembled erratically. The time has come. He nailed his gaze to the pretty face on his cell phone screen.
Vaguely Alila also heard that voice. His heart seemed to stop beating. He stared fixedly at Dimas' face that looked unsettled.
"Al, I have to go now."
"Yes, Dim."
The second call was heard. Around Dimas, some people had already moved from their seats and walked towards the departure gate.
Dimas was still staring at Alila's face.
"I love you, Al."
Alila showed her smile when she heard Dimas say.
"I love you too, Dim."
Time can no longer be bargained.
"I have to turn off the phone now, Al. Take care of yourself."
"Take care of yourself too, Dim."
Call disconnected. Dimas had sealed it with a heavy heart. He turned off the phone and immediately saved it.
He stood up and grabbed the large suitcase beside him, then hurried to step foot towards the departure gate.
As he walked out of the room, he heard a song from a cell phone belonging to someone who was still sitting in one of the waiting room chairs.
You can make me smile and
You can make my breath more meaningful
You always keep your heart when you're away from me
Wait for me to come back
I love you always
Loving you until the end of closing your eyes
~Jaga Always Your Heart: Seventeen Band~
Dimas smiled listening to that love song. She felt her inner voice being represented by the song.
(Wait for me, Al.)
In the room, Alila was still staring at the phone in her hand. Dimas has ended the call. He has departed. Go forsake her who now has to be alone through time without the presence of someone she loves so much.
Alila took a long breath. He must be strong. He could've gotten through all this. Only temporarily, not forever. Just three months. Not four years.
(I'll be waiting for you, Dim.)
