Three months later....
Cansu and Ivy walked into the high gate with barbed wire wrapped around its top. The iron door is the largest prison gate in Istanbul. With her pair of legs wrapped in black stockings, Ivy stepped down the front yard. Cansu looked at his watch which had already shown at 10:00 a.m.
"It seems we are not late,” muttered Cansu who was a little hasty to climb a few steps then opened the golden yellow door handle that was right in front of his chest. Followed by Ivy who walked behind him.
Behind the high door was a large room with walls made of wood and fibers that were left exposed. The smell of the pine wood was piercing their sense of smell. Some people wearing brown uniforms seemed to pass by in the room. There are also some inmates who have just finished their trials and were transferred to this particular prison.
Not a terrible sight in the room, but a terrible one just when looking at the eyes of the inmates who still look violent when both their hands are handcuffed and forced into by the officers. Inmates, mostly men, saw Ivy and Cansu as a delicious breakfast meal in prison. Away from the family and the frustration of facing punishment, make them need an impingement.
“Come we get there.” Ivy invites Cansu to approach the long table to the right of the room. He also shuddered in horror at the gazes filled with hunger.
At the long table, Ivy and Cansu take care of the administrative papers belonging to their husband. Sign all forms provided by the officer. After everything was complete, the prison officer entered through a small door behind him. Both of them have to wait for a few minutes. Ten minutes passed, twenty minutes passed until thirty minutes, but the awaited ones did not come.
“They so out today’?” ask Cansu who rested himself on the edge of the long table.
“Hazal said so, last night he told me to pick up Kenan in jail.” Ivy kept directing
his gaze was on the door behind the table, hoping that it would open soon.
Cansu turned his body around following Ivy who was still staring at the wooden door. “Ivy, how is it that after Kenan is free, they meet more and more? I heard from Mehmet their past is quite complicated and hard to forget.”
The green-eyed bead stared at the blue-eyed bead that belonged to Cansu. “At first you forced me to call Hazal and now you're making me anxious. I don't know either. But after the trial was over, Hazal never visited Kenan. That's what Kenan told me.”
The sound of the door knob being turned made the two women set their eyes back on the wooden door. There came out an officer who had been serving them and two other men who were behind him. The two men were carrying their bags.
“Congratulations, you are free,” the Officer told Kenan and Mehmet. The three people shook hands with their bright smiles. Both of them did not expect the day of freedom to finally arrive.
“They have been waiting for you.” Appoint the attendant to Ivy and Cansu who are standing in front of the table.
The two hugs instantly happened under the chandelier that was swinging slowly. A long hug they could not do, because of the glass walls that limited their every touch. Two pairs of husband and wife were shedding tears and rubbing the back of their partner.
“Finally you... get out of here.” Ivy's voice was heard sobbing behind Kenan's back, rubbing her husband's thick black hair. Her finger suddenly touched the red thread necklace that was coiled around Kenan's neck, but she did not pick it up and saw the wooden pendulum hidden behind her husband's clothes.
Since when did Kenan wear a necklace like this?
“How are you and Filan?” kenan asked while framing Ivy's face with both hands. The man does not know that Ivy is beginning to suspect the pendulum necklace he made to carve Hazal's mobile number.
Ivy just nodded her head and replied, “Filan is at Cansu's house along with Nur and Deniz. Starting yesterday Cansu has returned to his home.”
“Oh yes..., at that time you once told about the house that Sophia bought from the insurance money of your late father,” Kenan reply that threw a smile, his smile, but his gaze was like he was looking for another figure who was behind Ivy. But the look on his face suddenly changed when he could not find the figure.
“Who are you looking for? Are you looking for Hazal?” Ivy asked with her low tone of voice. The bead looked at the face of her husband who was scratching his nose.
“Ya.”
The deg!
“Ivy... Ivy.. wait!” The long stride ran down the stairs that led him to the front yard. While in the room, Cansu and Mehmet looked surprised to see the couple running around and chasing each other.
“What else, Kenan?” Ivy shouted with her voice loud enough to make herself the center of attention on the page.
“Listen to my explanation!” The words were full of emphasis.
“Explution says? What explanation, huh? I know, ever since you met, you guys have kind of wanted to go back to your past. All this time I closed my eyes and my heart, so that I could see you free and be able to give birth to Filan well. But... today I am really disappointed in you!” exclaiming Ivy who tried to release the hand of Kenan who was holding his arm.
“I think after we get married and that woman gets married, you guys have closed that book of the past. Turns out I was wrong! Keep expecting it!”
“Ivy... listen to me! You... You misunderstood,” explained Kenan who was still reluctant to release his hand from Ivy's arm.
“Mistake? Will you use reason this time to keep my feelings?” The clear liquid began to bathe Ivy's bead eyes, he cried while chuckling at the same time. I wonder how stupid he has been all along. Loving a man who cannot determine his attitude.
“Now you answer my question. Who do you love?”
The deg!
The question finally slid off Ivy's thin lips. A question Kenan couldn't answer until this very second. The man simply pursed his lips together as his constantly moving bead of eyes stared at his wife's face.
“You can't answer it?” Ivy was starting to look upset. A frown appeared on his forehead and a reddened hue was seen on his eye bead.
“I'll make it simpler. What if Hazal and I drowned together in the river, who would you choose to save?”
“I will save you,” replied Kenan as he closed his eyes in front of Ivy. He hoped his answer would calm his wife.
“You're gonna save me?” Ivy could not believe hearing Kenan's words.
Aaron's son nodded his head and immediately embraced his wife's body. He clutched tightly to the woman who had given him offspring. However, in his heart he continued his words.
After I save you, I'll drown with Hazal.
What kind of lies he has told. No, he wasn't lying, that was the feeling he had in his heart right now. The man cannot decide as he is in business, because love is not a business relationship and vice versa, business is not love.
“I looked for him, because... because I want to thank him,” Kenan said as he hugged Ivy.
What kind of a man am I? Obviously I asked Ivy to marry me, but why can't my heart take off Hazal completely. Ever since I met her again, that feeling has also re-emerged.
