Give Me Your Hand's
Reunion of DL and GMYH - Second Assemblies and Results

One week passed, the schedule of the second trial was already at the end of the eye. Currently inside the courtroom, Lawyer Hazal and Prosecutor Onur stare at each other behind their respective desks. An atmosphere of tension began to be felt even though the defendants had not been welcome in. The Prosecutor is tapping the tip of the pen on the table, while Hazal is playing the pen between his knuckles. The two are waiting for the Judge to open their fight again.

“The second trial examining criminal case number 567890 on behalf of Kenan Fallay and Mehmet Dundar was declared open and closed to the public. This trial contains about the demands filed, the defense of the defendant and the reading of the results of the trial.” The Judge's voice echoed throughout the courtroom along with the three-times sound of the hammer.

“Defendant Kenan Fallay and defendant Mehmet Dundar are welcome in!” a protocol officer.

Like the first trial before, the two defendants were escorted by several police officers to enter the hospital seat that has been provided. After the wooden fence was locked from the outside, Hazal approached the two clients.

“Prepare your defense, if your defense can touch the heart of the Judge, maybe he will consider his decision. Remember my message, don't be provoked by what the prosecutor says. He will only make your judgment worse in the eyes of Judge,”, said Hazal, who was standing in the middle of the hospital seat.

“I understand,” Mehmet said, while Kenan just nodded his head.

Along with Hazal's departure back to his seat, the judge asked the readiness of the two to attend today's hearing. Without a doubt, both of them answered ready. The judge also gave the opportunity to Prosecutor Onur to read his claim.

“Thank you, Your Majesty for the opportunity you have given. I will directly read out the demands I filed for this case.”

That raucous voice instantly silenced the mouths of the occupants of the room which only ranged from ten people. Behind her desk, Hazal folded her arms in front of her chest. Kenan and Mehmet, they both lowered their heads with both eyes closed. Their two wives sitting at the back clenched their palms in front.

Of the many people who were in this room, perhaps only Japheth did not feel the burden at all. From the first trial to the second, he was only a bystander between Hazal and Kenan. For him there was no benefit between Kenan being detained or being released, as long as his wife was only enough to help them until the trial was over.

Onur continued his words, with a tone of decisiveness higher than usual. “Based on the testimony of the witnesses and some evidence that has been presented at the first hearing, then I. Prosecutor Onur, it remains to be believed that the actions taken by the accused are vigilante actions that caused the lives of Ferit Kozan and several others to drift. Although on the grounds of wanting to save the life of the defendant's wife.”

“There is no other reason that can justify the attitude of these two defendants, because it should be as good citizens they report the criminal acts that have been and will be carried out by the victim to the authorities. Therefore, in the name of the Law and State Court of Turkey, I as Prosecutor demand a sentence of ten years in prison for defendant Kenan Fallay and ten years in prison for defendant Mehmet Dundar. May Your Majesty uphold justice in this place.”

Like being struck by lightning in broad daylight, once Ivy and Cansu hear the demands of Attorney Onur. Ivy tried to hold her stomach which felt stiff at this time. Cansu immediately stood up from his seat with a roar of tears. While the two pairs of eyelids that are on the sickle chair are directly open. Those gazes of eyes instantly turned lethargic with their pale faces.

“The death sentence has passed, but ten years.... It was not a short time to separate a family,” muttered Hazal as he took a deep breath. Her eyes were glazed over as she looked at Kenan.

Feeling that someone was looking at him, Kenan turned his face back to Hazal. The dark gray eye bead was flushed withstanding the pain that he had to dull many times over.

Escaping the death penalty has made me grateful, it's only been ten years, Hazal. I will never blame you, because I cannot hurt you….

“Please the defendants read out his defense,” said the Judge from his halfway table.

Mehmet's hand trembled as the man took out a fold of paper hidden behind his pocket. Slowly Cansu's husband unfolded the fold of paper he had written with his own hands in prison. It took a few minutes for the bald man to take control of himself. His voice shook, very much different from Mehmet's attitude when the man was about to beat Prosecutor Onur.

“First of all I thank Your Majesty, who has given me the opportunity to read the defense I have made with all my heart. I admit, indeed I shot Ferit Kozan to make the man die. However, do not know Your Majesty and the Prosecutor how much I as a man and a husband feel devastated when he heard my wife had been raped a few hours before our wedding.”

Mehmet sighed slowly then rubbed the corner of his eyes that looked wet.

“How come I became a useless man who could not fight for justice for my own wife! Both in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of social, because it turns out that after this case was brought to court, no one believed the incident that happened to my wife! My wife nearly committed suicide, feeling her life had been ruined, but none of you. Law Enforcers care!”.

“Lantas was it wrong of me—Mehmet Dundar to give that justice in my own way? Please Your Majesty and the Prosecutor answer my question with your conscience, even if you still have it! Ten years in prison, that would be tantamount to agreeing to the savage act that Ferit Kozan had committed to my wife! Please Your Majesty reconsider the demands made by the Prosecutor. All the defense I made with the awareness I have,” Mehmet continued.

The entire room was silent after listening to Mehmet's plea. There were only two women sitting at the back, with their trembling bodies holding back their tears. While Hazal stared at the surface of her desk with her pushy eyes.

“Please defendant Kenan Fallay read out his defense,” said the judge as he removed the frame of his reading glasses and placed it on the table.

Just like Mehmet, Aaron's son also took something from inside the pocket of his prisoner's uniform. He stared at the rows of sentences written with his own hands, then he turned his gaze back to look at Ivy for a few seconds. One breath made Kenan start to make his voice out.

“Thank you to Your Majesty for giving me the opportunity to read out the defense I made a few days ago in prison. At that time, I was just trying to get rid of the victim who was about to stab my pregnant wife and had harassed my wife in public. Due to an error, I pushed him firmly to the point of throwing his body at the end of the machine.”

“I admit this was a mistake, but if Your Majesty and the Prosecutor were in my position at that time, can you still contact the police and wait for their arrival? While the lives of your wife and children only have to wait a few more seconds.” The clear crystal finally came out from the corner of Kenan's eye. The man was completely on the verge of his despair for the second time.

“The ten-year sentence of imprisonment is tantamount to neglecting the sacrifice of a husband and the sacrifice of a father to be of no price in the eyes of the law! Because the court kept me separated from my wife and children. All the defense I have made with my full awareness.”

For the second time, the atmosphere of the trial returned to silence. The five fingers were covered with the prosecutor's face hidden. While Hazal exhaled upwards, trying to hold back the clear crystal liquid from falling down on his face.

“The trial will resume in ten minutes, by reading the results of the final trial decision!” the judge shouted while knocking his hammer three times.

After the judge's departure from the courtroom, several officers were seen standing guard near the hospital's seat. Suddenly Cansu got out of his seat and came to Hazal's table.

“Say you will help release them, but why did you keep quiet when the prosecutor demanded a ten-year prison sentence?” Hazal is shocked to see Cansu coming to him with a look on her face swollen with tears.

So are Mehmet, Kenan and everyone else left in the courtroom. They all gasped at the screams of Cansu.

“Why are you quiet? Are you and your husband happy to see Kenan in prison?” pointing at Cansu who immediately made Hazal stand up then looked at Kenan and Mehmet with her reddened beads.

“Cansu!” hardik Kenan with his face stiffened.

“Cansu, stop your accusation and return to your seat,” refer Mehmet from his place.

The sound of a person's silence made everyone's gaze fixed on Japheth. This time the owner of the Aksal Hotel walked over to Cansu who was standing in front of his wife's desk.

“Mrs Dundar or whatever your name is. If you think like that, then right now I'll take Hazal out of this room and please both of you, you and you!” Yafet pointed at Kenan and Mehmet's faces, “get another lawyer!”

“Yafet, stop…. I know she's sad right now,” whispered Hazal who approached her husband.

The eagle's eyes stared intently at Kenan and Mehmet in one glance. “I've kindly allowed Hazal to help you, but if you or anyone else blames Hazal, I won't stay silent!”

“Already, Japheth. Please... don't make things even more chaotic,” said Hazal who held her husband's hand, “I beg you…. You promise not to interfere’?”

“I only defend you in front of those who do not know thank you!” Japheth snorted in annoyance. The 185-centimeter-tall man was immediately pulled by Hazal to stay away from them.

“I know, Honey. Sit in your chair, I'll finish it all.” Hazal sat Japheth in her seat and asked her husband to remain silent until the trial was over.

“Cansu, let's sit back. Soon the Judge will come,” persuaded Ivy while holding his half-brother's hand.

“Ivy, I just want to defend you. I know you're sad to see them staring at each other without caring about you!” Cansu's cry was able to be heard by Hazal who passed by them and Kenan who was not far from him. The two women returned to their seats.

The words made Hazal continue to lower her face, even though she had now returned to her seat. No matter how sick his heart is at the moment, he tries to hold the clear liquid so as not to spill, because it is not an easy matter to meet Kenan again. Their reunion not only disturbs Kenan's composure but also his peace of mind.

What exactly is it between us hasn't really ended yet, Kenan?

“Yang Mulia. Hope all attendees get up!” shouted one of the protocol officers who welcomed the Judge's arrival, causing the horror in Hazal's heart to suddenly disappear.

Everyone in the courtroom stood up until they sat down again as the judge opened the next hearing. The decision of the court is in the hands of the judge. Now is the time for this trial to end with tears of sorrow or tears of joy.

The middle-aged man sitting on his throne stood up and read his decision. “Session

Istanbul City District Court on this day, ruled that defendant Kenan Fallay and defendant Mehmet Dundar in..”.
