“What are no more witnesses that the Defenders submit?” the judge asked Hazal.
The woman's lawyer raised his head to look at the Judge sitting on his throne. “There, Your Majesty.”
“Mrs Ivy Fallay, please you give testimony.” Hazal got up and called Kenan's wife who was sitting on the back bench.
Ivy walked towards the witness seat that was in front of the defendant's seat. Only Kenan— remained in the seat, after a few minutes ago the Judge expelled Mehmet. As Ivy was about to occupy his seat, he saw Kenan still staring at Hazal who was sitting in the defense seat. The arrival of Prosecutor Onur broke his heart.
“What before did you and the victim know each other? Or have you ever been in a conflict?” ask Prosecutor Onur who is standing in front of Ivy.
“Before my father died, my father once betrothed me to a victim. But I refused and decided to run away on the wedding day, until I met Kenan. He was the one who helped me all this time.”
“Then marry you?” Ivy only nodded his head after hearing Prosecutor Onur's question, “Yang Mulia, meaning defendant Kenan Fallay not only killed the victim but had snatched his bride-to-be. What is wrong if the victim intends to take his bride back? The defendants killed him
brutal!”
“Doubt, Your Majesty!” Hazal shouted inside the room. While Kenan can only hit the wooden fence in front of him. Luckily the Judge gave Hazal a chance to speak.
“Force Prosecutor, should your inquiry not be widened anywhere!” hazal exclaimed, who immediately stared intently at his former superior, making Ivy only able to hold tightly to his clothes when he saw the two people fighting in front of him.
“Force Prosecutor, should your inquiry focus on the murder incident!” the judge's order, which immediately drove Prosecutors Onur and Hazal away from each other.
Prosecutor Onur turned his back on Ivy. He rubbed his chin before asking Ivy to tell him the true events inside the old warehouse. Ivy closed her eyelids to try to remember the events of that time. The pregnant woman began to recount the kidnapping of Ferit's men in front of the hospital, the events of Ferit who would abort her womb until the man who wanted to rape her.
“Kenan and Mehmet are just trying to help me. If Kenan had not pushed Ferit, then the man could have done his evil wish. If Mehmet doesn't shoot Ferit, the man can also kill me or kill Kenan.”.
“You said it could have been Ferit would have done his evil wish and it could have been Ferit killed the defendant Kenan. Then it's all just your guess, Madame Fallay!” said the Prosecutor who made the green eye bead was closed with clear liquid flowing out.
“Attorney! Keep your talk! Don't put pressure on my witness, she's pregnant!” hazal shouted directly behind Ivy's chair. The lawyer forgot to ask the judge for permission to refute his opponent's words.
“Defender Hazal, you should think using logic instead of feeling. My words are only the conclusion of the witness' explanation, all of which are conjectural! In fact, the two defendants have collaborated to kill the victim!” exclaimed Prosecutor Onur who immediately made Kenan ride apitam, he was eager to split the middle-aged man's head to remove the contents of his head.
Prosecutor Onur gave evidence of bullets lodged in the body of Ferit and several bullets lodged in the body of another body to the Judge. The bullet came from a gun held by Kenan and Mehmet, and there were fingerprints of the two men.
“Defender Parties, if you want the Court to trust Madam Fallay's testimony, it is best to provide evidence that corroborates the words of the witness!” challenge the Judge, who is looking hard at Hazal's face.
Hazal took some of the papers on his desk and gave them to the Judge. “Your Honor, this is an investigation report I conducted and a report from the police. At the scene were found many bullets, firearms, sharp weapons, blood stains, two pairs of handcuffs, broken glass and two cars belonging to the defendant.”
The judge looked at the photos in the file and a pile of clear plastic containing real evidence provided by Hazal.
“One of these glass shards is a fragment of the syringe body part. Your Majesty can see the glass shards in the plastic, there is a measure of how many milli-doses are commonly used by doctors. At the scene, I also found the remaining medicinal liquid scattered and a bag filled with
medical equipment,” is clearly Hazal who is standing behind Ivy.
Hazal also filed a witness, one of the obstetricians, who confirmed that the medical devices were usually used to abort the womb. A report containing a blood sample attached to a sharp weapon used by Ferrite, contained samples of Ivy's blood and Kenan's blood. The fingerprints of Ferrite attached to the iron stick used to stab Mehmet, at the end of the stick were also still attached to Mehmet's blood.
“That's the evidence I have that could explain that the victim of Ferit Kozan was a criminal who tried to wipe out someone's life! These two defendants only want to protect the witness from the crime that will be committed by the victim. It is just a self-defense attempt that causes one's life to drift!” Hazal spoke his opinion as he walked back and forth in front of the judge's table.
“Fingerprints and bullet details will speak, Prosecutor!” Hazal gives a photo of eleven bodies found in the warehouse, including the body of the doctor who will abort Ivy's womb.
“The eleven bodies were not killed by the accused all of them, but there were also the results of fights and shootings that did not come from the accused's gun, but from the gun held by the victim. If the Prosecutor asks me to think logically, where does your logic lie if someone contacts you and says they will take your wife out of Istanbul?” Hazal stared intently at Prosecutor Onur who was sitting at the prosecutor's desk.
“In instinct, you will definitely come to the person's place and try to free your wife, right? Unless the Prosecutor does not love his wife and let another man take her away!” attack Hazal who leaned her body on the Prosecutor's desk.
“Hazal Defenders!” prosecutor Onur yelled at his own desk.
The middle-aged man glared at his opponent, only this time did Hazal see that flat facial expression turn into fury. It seems Hazal managed to attack the prosecutor's weak spot, because he actually did not know the personal life of his former superior.
“This is the same as that done by the defendant, Your Majesty!” hazal yelled as he pointed his index finger at Kenan, but his eyes glared sharply at the Judge.
“This is the last proof I have. Footage of the defendant and the victim's conversation on their mobile phone and a photo of the witness—Monya Ivy Fallay who only wore underwear after she was released by the police,” continued Hazal who provided the evidence to the Judge.
The Judge clenched his lips together as he looked at the nearly naked photo of Ivy and put his ears up to listen to a recording of the conversation taken from Kenan's phone.
The woman's lawyer walked to the center of the room and then said, “What the accused did was merely an attempt to save and defend the honor of his wife, Your Majesty! If what the defendant did was wrong in the eyes of the law. I just want to ask the men who are here, if your wife is harassed or want to be taken away by another man?”
“According to my defense for this first hearing, Your Majesty,” said Hazal who walked to his desk.
“How, Prosecutor? Is there anything you want to add?” ask the judge while holding the notebook he wrote earlier.
“Nothing, Your Grace. Everything I have conveyed at this first hearing,” replied Prosecutor Onur while standing up.
“Alright, the second trial will resume next week. In the second hearing, the Prosecutor prepared his claim and the defendant prepared his defense. So the first trial today,” said the Judge while knocking his hammer three times. The first court sign is closed.
Several officers were seen opening a wooden fence that locked Kenan. The pair of legs stepped down and the gaze of his gray eyes met with a brown bead of eyes standing in front of him.
“Down..” Ivy stopped approaching her husband when she saw him staring at Hazal and talking to her.
While in the corner of the room, Japheth merely observed the three men who were standing away from him. The man is like an eagle flapping its wings over its prey.
“Hazal, thank you for still trusting me,” Kenan said. The distance between them only ranged from one step of an adult.
The thin face only displayed his smile then said, “If I don't trust you, then why would I defend you? Don't thank me now, because my job isn't done.”
Aaron's son lowered his head and gave a smile to Hazal. Not a thin smile and not a charming smile, but a bitter smile. A pair of his legs were away from Hazal along with several officers who escorted him to get out of the Courthouse.
Kenan….
Hazal could only stare at the passing of her ex-husband and call that name in her heart. He also saw Ivy who was now walking beside the man.
“A satisfied looking at it?” Japheth's voice made Hazal come to her senses from her daydream. “Come we go home!”
