The two young women just fell silent as they looked at the multicolored butterfly surrounding a blooming flower. Only long benches made of wood were currently able to provide a backrest for them. The two had tried to talk to two lawyers they knew well, but none of them would help them.
“How?” asked Cansu after seeing Ivy close her phone. Kenan's wife just called another lawyer.
Ivy just shook her head. He tried not to cry for the fetus in the womb. “He refused for the same reason. How about you?”
“The lawyer also refused, even though I had offered him some money. He didn't want his reputation to be ruined by losing the trial,” Cansu explained with a half-desperate look on his face.
They have already contacted many lawyers, ranging from senior lawyers to junior lawyers who have just surfaced.
“It has been one month they were put on hold and we still haven't managed to find a way to free them.” Ivy let out a long sigh and instantly covered her mouth as soon as a nauseous feeling emerged from inside her stomach.
Ivy rubbed the clear liquid that had peeked in her eye sieve. Trying to be a strong woman in front of Kenan, she tried to smile and bring her husband's favorite food every time he came to the police station. But honestly, he missed the guy a lot. Every night he just stared blankly at the pillow beside him and every day he only found a work desk beside him without occupants.
My God, how long will this be finished?
Cansu hugged Ivy's shoulders and stuck their temples together. “You don't worry, not good for your content. I'll take you to the Obstetrician. What time is your schedule?”
“I'll go alone. Isn't this afternoon your schedule to visit Mehmet?” Ivy asked after she straightened up and looked at the square face that was beside her.
“I can see him tomorrow.”
“No, Cansu. Go to the police station. You must miss each other, too. I can go alone, you don't worry.” Ivy looked at his half-brother with a wink in his eyes. No one could resist those green eyes.
Cansu got up and asked Ivy to find a taxi in the area. There was no need to wait for long, about five minutes later a yellow taxi rolled in and stopped in front of them.
“Let me, if you have reached the hospital,” said Cansu who was replied with a nod and a wave of hands by Ivy.
......................
Day is like night, and night is not much different from day. There is no sun and no moon. They were confined inside a closed room with an indefinite time limit that could not be determined. It might be better, if their case has been transferred to the prosecution. That way they can move to a holding room that has an open space.
An officer smashed his iron baton at one of the bars. The sound of the clang only sounded once. Residents in this place already understand, that the sound signifies what time it is. Every time the iron stick rang, they just counted how many times the punch was knocked
“New one hour,” said Mehmet who laid himself on a folding mattress.
The man was already feeling boredom, without freedom, without communication tools and without his wife. He saw his best friend who every day only looked at his wedding ring, Ivy photo and photo of the results of their prospective child ultrasound which is still a black spot. Sometimes the black-haired man kissed the three things for holding his longing too much in prison.
“He is indeed very melancholy,” Mehmet muttered with his voice that almost whispered.
While Kenan was looking at things that reminded him of his outside world, Mehmet was thinking of ways to get out of prison. The black-eyed man approached one of the prisoners who had been living in this place for a long time. He asked the man, “Is there a way to escape from here?”
The prisoner laughed and exclaimed to his friends, “Hey buddy! This bald man wants to escape!”
The entire prisoner laughed out loud at the senior's call, except for Kenan who was still deep in thought. Moving his index finger, the senior prisoner called Mehmet to come closer.
“You want to escape from here?” the prisoner whispered as Mehmet was beside him.
“Yes, is there a secret way or a way out of this place?” Mehmet put on a serious look on his face and carefully he watched the movements of his interlocutors.
“If only I had known... I had run away from the past,” whispered the prisoner right in Mehmet's ear, then the man laughed out loud. “Keep away from me, bald man!”
With a look on his face, Mehmet chose to go back to his bed. Not yet had his butt stuck to the thin mattress, an officer shouted to call one of the prisoner numbers there.
“140984.”
Mehmet looked at his prisoner number stuck in his pocket. 140984. The man immediately exclaimed, “Iya, it's me!”
“Cansu?”
“I don't know!” The officer opened his iron cell and took Mehmet out of the detention room.
A black door was opened by another officer. Mehmet's gaze was immediately fixed on a woman with a height of 175 centimeters. Women with long brown hair.
“Cansu?”
“Mehmet A couple hugged tightly. Just like Ivy, her husband also left the entire work of his cafe to her. He visited Mehmet two days ago.
“Have you and Ivy managed to find a lawyer?” mehmet asked after they sat in the corner of the room.
The cloud of cloud hanging on the blue eye, the dark-skinned man understood the meaning of it all. He simply lowered his face to the wooden table between himself and Cansu.
“I'm sorry, I. I want you to be free soon, but I don't know how. If you want me to meet someone who can help you or replace it with your freedom, I will,” Cansu said, holding her husband's arm.
Someone. Yes there should be someone who can help him….
It was in Mehmet's mind after Cansu said something about someone. He reached into his pants pocket, as if he still kept his cell phone.
“Shit!”
Cansu immediately raised her head as soon as she heard her husband's curse. “What's up? Did I say wrong?”
“Not. I was looking for my phone, but it looks like the police have seized it.”
“Police has returned it after they have retrieved the data they need for investigation.”
“My phone is with you?”
“Yes, I save it in the apartment.”
The pair of black eye beads were rounded along with the streaks of smiles painted on his round face. He clasped Cansu's hand and looked into those blue eyes in hope.
“Cansu, after you get home later. Find the name of someone on my phone. Only that person can help us and hopefully he will do it.”
Cansu's heart rumbled as soon as she heard her husband's words. “Whose name should I look for?"
“Hazal Aksal's. She's a prosecutor, hopefully the woman still uses her old number.”
"A prosecutor?" The thick, red lips were rounded when she heard Mehmet's words, she thought that he could help her husband and Kenan was a lawyer. "Ba... How can a prosecutor help us? Will they charge you with a higher sentence for bribing a prosecutor?"
"I'm not asking you to bribe the woman's prosecutor. Just call the woman, somehow she will help, I don't know either" Mehmet explained, rubbing his bald head.
“Alright, I'll contact him after I get home from here.” The blue-eyed bead was rounded and slightly glowing.
Mehmet shook his head and placed his index finger on his own lips. “It wasn't you who called her, honey. But Ivy, have him call the woman's prosecutor.”
“But why do Ivy? I can do it.” Seemed a frown on Cansu's forehead, according to him it was a very easy task.
“I know this is very easy. But the female prosecutor doesn't know you and Ivy, it's very difficult to get close to a prosecutor. Tell Ivy to mention Kenan Fallay by name when he calls the woman. Pray that the woman will help us. He's my only hope right now,” Mehmet explained.
“I understand. I'll ask Ivy to do it.”
