Seeing Estelle sound in her chest, Rey thought about the possibility that she would be an important part of this boy's life, she could become his stepfather one day, and it's more likely that he will be more influential in his life than his real father, as he and Jessica will eventually live together.
Maybe people will assume that this is too rushed, but actually, Rey has wanted Jessica for years. This is a very important day, where he spends time with someone who might one day be his daughter.
Rey stroked Estelle's strands of hair like strawberries and tried to understand why Daniel was so angry and rude toward Jessica when they were divorced. Jessica has full rights to her life, and has the right to determine who she chooses to accompany her taking care of Estelle together. Rey understands that it is not easy for anyone to see his ex-wife who is still in love with another man, but once again they have separated, and their separation is not because of anyone but his own fault. Had he been a more mature, and more rational man. Jessica would never leave him. He'll still have his wife and daughter, and I'll never get in touch with Jessica. Although it hurts to see him with another man, but I'll be happy to see him happy.
"Have you ever made a report against Daniel?" ask Rey, looking at Jessica. The woman sits on the floor next to Rey, looking at Estelle softly in Rey's chest.
"NO."
"Do you two have a custody agreement?"
Jessica nodded. “I have full custody, because Estelle is still under 12 years old, but with various provisions, one of which allows Daniel to be with Estelle at least twice a week."
"He's giving child support?"
Jessica nodded. “Yes. He is never late.”
The answers to those questions made Jessica's situation seem even more precarious. "Why?" Jessica asked.
Rey shook her head. "No, it's none of my business."
Jessica touches Rey's arm “That's your business, Rey. We are together now.”
Jessica smiled as she nodded. If Estelle wasn't sleeping on her chest, Rey would carry Jessica around and turn her around, she was so happy, but that happiness was gone when her mind went back to Daniel.
“Is it too late to report that he has been violent with you in the past? Maybe it will help prevent Estelle from staying overnight with him.”
“Once two people agree to a custody deal, you can't use past evidence to change that deal. Unfortunately, I never reported it, so I can't use the abuse as a defense at this time.”
Daniel never hurt Estelle, Jessica never reported Daniel's crimes, Daniel never paid alimony for his daughter and he had a successful career. All of these things benefit him.
Jessica leaned against Rey's shoulder, it let go of******* quietly. “You know, if I fight for sole custody, my stake is small. He has no criminal history, and he has the money to pay the best lawyers. Almost every lawyer I've worked with has pushed me to work this out in a family way because they've seen cases like ours in many cases, and the deal Daniel agreed to at the time was my best bet," he wiped away the tears that ran down his cheeks.
Rey could feel Jessica's fear. "Whatever happens, you're not alone anymore."
Jessica smiled with relief, at the same time Estelle woke up. He opened his eyes and looked at Rey, then looked for her mother. "Honey." whispered Jessica, Estelle turned to Jessica and moved into her mother's arms. "Rey, I'm so sorry we had to go" Jessica said. “I feel guilty for being here with Estelle. I'd be mad if Daniel took Estelle around without my knowledge.
“I think your situation is different. Daniel doesn't have to find a safe place to hide his daughter because he's afraid of your anger. Don't be too hard on yourself.” Rey stroked Jessica's head gently and helped her with the stuff and carried her to the car
As soon as Estelle sat in her car seat, Jessica approached Rey to say goodbye. Rey kissed his head. "You haven't left yet but I've missed you."
Breaking up with you twelve years ago was a painful thing for me, but there is even more painful that seeing you unhappy, Rey waved her hand towards Jessica's car which slowly moved out from the gate of her residence.
"I thought they were going to stay" commented Jordy, looking annoyed at Estelle's departure. "Yaahhhh is quiet again..."
