CHAPTER 40

Jessica almost cancels her date with Rey, because suddenly her little daughter has a fever that is quite high, she cannot take Estelle out with her.

Jessica had tried to contact her mother but her mother had just returned from Kalimantan, she could not bear to leave Estelle to her, while Daniel was busy designing a house of worship in downtown Bandung.

But the Goddess of luck apparently sided with Jessica, because at the last minute before she contacted Rey. Claire with Dania came to her apartment. "Why aren't you ready?" he asked in astonishment as he barged in, walking into the living room followed by Jessica from behind.

Claire puts Dania in the playpen along with Estelle. Estelle smiled looking at Dania, the two girls started to show excitement in front of each other.

"I couldn't leave Estelle, she had a fever" Jessica said.

Not believing Jessica's words, Claire reached out her hand to Estelle's forehead. "It seems to have come down" he said. "Be prepared, let me take care of him."

"But, Claire..."

"What do you think I came here for?" Claire looked at Jessica closely. "Certainly because I know you don't have anyone to leave Estella." a few days ago Jessica told her she was going to walk with Rey, Claire, who knows Daniel is out of town, takes the initiative to come to Jessica's apartment to offer him help, because it feels too strange to go on a date with a child, dania hasn't played with Estelle in days. "Here change clothes!"

Jessica nodded, she rushed to her room to change her clothes. In less than fifteen minutes she returned with a pink short dress. He approached Claire again who was watching a Disney show with the kids. "Claire, please don't tell your sister.”

"You don't have to worry," her relationship with Jessica hasn't changed even if they're not sisters-in-law anymore, and Jessica looks happier now so she's definitely happy to see Jessica's happiness. "Where's he taking you?"

Jessica tidied up my clothes by hand, then flicked a piece of thread. “Dining only, but I don't know the place Rey ordered yet. I hope my clothes don't overdo it.”

“Are you guys official? You look nervous.”

“Yes, I'm nervous. But we're still friends."

Claire watched for a moment with her soft eyes. “You look very happy. I miss this side of you.”

"Yes. I'm also."

Jessica leaned over to give Dania and Estelle a kiss. “I won't be home too late, around ninety-thirty I'm home. Don't you mind?”

“Why did you come home so soon? That sucks.”

“I didn't sleep last night. I'mtired. But I don't want to cancel the date, so I'll continue.”

“Uh. It's heartwarming, ”talk Claire, rolling her eyes. “I'll take care of the kids, have fun. Drink some coffee so you don't get sleepy.'"

"There's a lot of coffee I've been drinking today. Thank you for taking care of Estelle" Jessica said as she walked towards the exit of her apartment. Once out of the elevator, Jessica could immediately see Rey's car parked in the lobby.

He quickens his pace, and he gets into Rey's car. "I'm sorry I'm late" he put his seatbelt on.

Jessica chuckles. "You're joking, I haven't slept all night because Estelle's got a fever. My face looks old."

Rey's face immediately turned to feel guilty. "Do we have to cancel this show? We can walk next week if you want."

Jessica shook her head. "No need, there's Claire who's looking after Estelle. You don't have to worry."

Rey breathed a sigh of relief, then he started to drive his vehicle. "There's a new Japanese restaurant nearby, my friends say it tastes really good. What if we eat there?"

Silent.

Rey turned to look at Jessica, apparently the woman had already slept. Rey lets Jessica sleep while she drives away. Until they arrived at the restaurant parking lot Jessica was still asleep even her snoring sounded very charming like her face. It's so subtle, almost too light to hear.

Rey takes a short video to tease her later, smilingly observing Jessica's pretty face on her hanphonenya. Rey almost threw her phone when she was shocked to hear the alarm sound of Jessica's phone ringing. Surprisingly Jessica was not disturbed at all, she was still sleeping soundly.

Slowly Rey took the phone out of Jessica's hand. "Sorry Jessie, I don't mean to be disrespectful" he said, only to turn off his phone. But Rey was silent for a while looking at Jessica's phone. The sound of the alarm was apparently a reminder of the date of the first time they met, as well as Jessica, Rey never forgot the date.

Rey turns off the alarm on Jessica's phone, then she waits for Jessica to fall asleep, while stroking her head. "You're such a great woman, Jess." Rey can't imagine how tired it is to be a single parent, if there is an opportunity for her to be able to help the woman she loves she will certainly do.

Nearly two hours into her sleep, Jessica finally woke up from her sleep. Jessoca's face panicked, she looked around and felt guilty for Rey. "Yes, God. I'm sorry, Rey," he said with regret.

Rey pulls Jessica into her arms, clutching her body tightly. "What is the messiness of our date, making you sad and disappointed?" jessica asked confusedly mixed with guilt.

Rey still hugged Jessica. "I think you've completely forgotten me" Rey almost sobbed. "But it turns out you never forgot me, even you remember the date we first met."

Jessica let go of Rey's embrace, she checked her phone. "Did this sound?"

"Yes" Rey nodded. "But I'm glad that alarm didn't wake you. I'm glad to see you used to rest comfortably."

Jessica looked at Rey Lekay. "Rey, how could I possibly forget the date where we met. That's the date you saved me from falling apart, otherwise you might be dead by now."

The first time, they met on the top floor of an empty building. At that time Jessica who was not strong enough to hear her parents every day fighting, seemed to want to end her life. But Rey saves him, not only does Rey save him but also teaches him gratitude. Do not just because God gives trials, make us forget the favors that God gives, even though the blessings are very broad.

"You saved me too, Jess." Rey returned a gentle look. "Because of you, I became the spirit of pursuing my career back, even though at that time I was desperate because I was rejected by many agencies."

Fifteen minutes into the conversation, Rey escorted Jessica back to her apartment. "I've bought you a lot of food. Eat with Claire."

Jessica nodded. "Good night, Rey. Thank you for tonight" he got out of Rey's car and rushed back to his unit.
