CHAPTER 3

"Don't move first, you still have a lot of rest" Daniel said.

Jessica felt her head very dizzy, but as she tried to open her eyes, she grimaced at the piercing pain in the corner of her eye. Jessica tried to sit down, but Daniel held Jessica's shoulder. "You don't move much first, the doctor says you still have a lot of rest."

"Doctor?" tanyanya, while again trying to open her eyes, and look around it turns out she was already in the hospital room.

"So you fell down the stairs" replied Daniel.

While Jessica looked into Daniel's eyes, there was a radiance of worry and guilt in her eyes, then behind Daniel there was Claire and her husband who also looked worried about her.

Jessica closed her eyes again, remembering what happened to her.

The cellphone.

Rey's business card.

Stairs.

I snatched his performance.

Husband pushed.

I didn't fall, my husband pushed me, and this was the second time he pushed me.

Jessica did not know how much injury she had, but she felt pain all over her body, but all the pain in her body was not comparable to the pain in her heart, the fact that her husband himself made her fall.

Jessica brushed off her husband's hand, wanting Daniel to walk away from her. "You pushed me" Jessica said between her tears.

"You fell in love," Daniel stroked Jessica's head gently, Jessica could feel if Daniel's hand was shaking.

"I've heard everything from Claire, about Rey coming to your boutique this morning."

"Daniel, I have nothing with Rey. She only asked me to make a wedding dress for her sister, so it was only natural that she would give me her business card, so that I could send her a sketch of my drawing. Your reaction is so overrated, Daniel. Though you haven't heard my explanation, if you really don't like me hanging out with her, I can ask Claire who sent the sketch to her" Jessica explained. "Now you get out of here, I don't want to see you again."

Jessica's words surprised Daniel. "You're being treated for falling down the stairs. I can't leave you, Jess. I want to accompany you."

"No need! I wouldn't have fallen if it wasn't for you pushing me." Jessica punched Daniel in the hand. "Go from here! I want a divorce from you" cried Jessica. "out! Get out! Out....."

Claire sneaks in and holds Jessica's hand. "Jessica, please calm down." she turned to Daniel. "You better tell Jessica now. She's my wife, and she has every right to know about my real condition, if you don't want to tell me so let me tell you."

Daniel immediately prevented his sister. "I'll talk to him."

Claire turned back to face Jessica. "Please listen to my sister's story" she asked. "I know my brother has gone too far, I'm not asking you to forgive him, but please listen to my brother just this once."

Jessica was silent for a moment, she thought about what reason Daniel wanted to convey. But whatever the reason, Jessica still felt that Daniel should not over-express his emotions to her to make her hurt.

Daniel looked at Jessica deeply. "Jess, do you remember my story about a boy who died after being burned by his own sister?"

Jessica nodded, recalling the story as Daniel told the story long before they were married. 'But what does that boy have to do with what happened to him, ' Jessica was confused.

Daniel pressed both of his palms into his eyes, holding back his cries. "Do you remember what you said when I told you?"

"I told you, I can't imagine the impact of that incident on the sister who accidentally burned her brother" Jessica replied. "And then you say 'He will be destroyed for life.'" Jessica suddenly felt sad when she remembered the story of the poor boy.

"Jessica" said. "The incident completely destroyed it. I know exactly how that kid feels... Because the truth is that it's a story about me and my brother..."

Jessica was shocked, she could not believe what her husband said. Daniel hugged Jessica tightly. "I burned my brother, as well as my own best friend. At that time I was only five years old, I did not know at all if the one I was holding was a bat. All I know is that it's a magic wand like the one in the cartoon, but my parents put it on their room table. I pointed the stick at my brother's head."

Daniel's body began to shake, he hugged his wife even tighter. Although Jessica was still angry with Daniel, but she felt that if her husband's heart was very broken, she rubbed Daniel's head gently, then kissed him.

"Claire was four years old, Ernest was six. At the time of the incident, my parents and Claire were out, so no one heard our screams, then..."

Daniel let go of his embrace, and stood up. Silence long enough, because Daniel still can not tell the continuation. He sat down next to Jessica. "I'm trying.." Daniel lowered his head, covering his head with both hands.

"I tried to put out the fire but quickly the fire spread and scorched the vital organs in my brother's head."

Jessica was made even more surprised to hear the continuation of Daniel's story, he covered his mouth with both hands.

Daniel hugged his wife. "I'm not telling you this to look around for justification for what I did to you earlier." he let go of his arms and looked Jessica in the eye. "So Claire asked me to tell her about the incident because since then, there have been many things that I can't control. I could get angry, I could faint. Since that incident, until now I am still undergoing therapy and taking medication. This is the reality of my life."

"When you came after me, I swear, I had no intention of hurting you. I was disappointed and angry. I feel a huge emotion inside me, I don't remember and don't realize when I pushed you. The only thing on my mind is to get away from you, I want you to get out of my sight . But I forgot that we were on the stairs, and my energy was much stronger than yours. I was wrong, Jessica. I was wrong."

Daniel hugged Jessica. "You're my wife, I should be your protector from the bad guys out there who want to hurt you, but it's me who hurt you" Daniel said in despair.

Jessica turned her face away from Daniel, thinking that it shouldn't be like this. He should have thrown Daniel out. But the truth is that he still left Daniel here with wounds on his body from the actions of the man who was supposed to protect and love him.

But for some reason, Jessica's heart tried to find a justification for what happened. He covered his face with both hands and sobbed, as he felt a great deal of pain for Daniel after learning what had happened in Daniel's past.

Daniel has just opened up a secret that he may never tell anyone, he's trying hard to be someone more for me. Yes, he did last night he made a mistake, but now he's here and trying to make me understand his past that he has no control over, and I can't equate my parents' marriage with mine, because Daniel treated me so well and he loved me so much.

Jessica wiped her tears. 'I'm his wife, I should've helped the man I love. And I believe if our love is strong enough to get through this, ' he murmured inwardly.

Jessica stroked Daniel's head gently. "I believe in you, Daniel."

Daniel breathed his leg. "Thank you for understanding and giving me a chance" he whispered. "I need you to help me heal from this pressure."

In her mind, Jessica felt like she had done the right thing, she would try her best to help Daniel.
