CHAPTER 49

Rey picked up the phone on the first ring. "Hey," he said.

"Hi."

"What are you doing?"

“Help Jordy working on PR while trying to pretend not to think about you.”

Jessica who did not respond to her chatter could immediately feel something was wrong. "Are you okay?"

“Yes, I just don't want to go home. Can I go to your house?"

"Of course, honey. Is Estelle still with mom?”

Jessica scolded. “That's the problem. Now that I'm with him, and I don't want to take him home or stay at your house, I'll explain when I get there.”

Rey sounded panicked. "Where are you? I'll pick you up."

"No need, thank you. I brought a car and it's on the road to your house.”

"Alright, drive carefully. Don't turn the phone off, I'll watch you get here."

Rey silently watched Jessica from across the phone, in her mind wondering what happened to Jessica. Did I say something wrong? Is Jessica going to break up with me? All those worries swirled around in his head.

Did Daniel hurt her? Rey continued to sharpen her ears and continued to fight Jessica until Jessica said that she was already in front of the gate of the housing complex, but she was restrained by the security guard because she did not have a permit to enter the complex. "Give your phone to security, I'll talk to him."

Rey tells security that Jessica is his wife, and asks security to record the license plate number of his car so that Jessica can get in and out of the complex whenever she wants. He breathed a sigh of relief as Jessica's car moved into his yard.

As soon as Jessica got out of the car, Rey pulled her into her arms. "What happened, baby?"

Jessica put her hand on Rey's chest, hesitating to say it. Jessica glanced at the back window to check on Estelle, who was asleep in the baby seat.

Clear circles began to fall on her face, Jessica crying on Rey's chest. Hal makes Rey feel sad, he sticks his lips to Jessica's hair and gives her a moment.

Jessica did not take long to calm down, she quickly wiped her eyes. "Sorry," he said.

"What's been going on?" Rey looks worried "Are you hurt?"

"NO. But Daniel was really upset with me. I don't want to go home, I don't want to see her, I'm afraid she'll take Estelle."

Rey lifted Jessica's chin until she looked at him. “Let's stay here as long as you want.”

Jessica exhaled and pressed her lips against Rey's lips. "Thank you." he walked to the back car door to get Estele out of his car seat.

Estelle didn't wake up, she slipped in Jessica's arms. “We've been in the park for an hour, she's exhausted.”

Rey looked at Estelle, although she had seen Estelle often, she was still amazed by the toddler who looked like Jessica. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"His diaper bag is in the passenger seat."

Rey immediately took it, and they broke into the house. Jordy who was studying in the living room turned her head as she heard Rey and Jessica walk in. Jessica waved at him, and Jordy nodded her head, but then her gaze was fixed on Estelle. "Is that a baby?" tanyakanya.

Jordy looks at. "Is he a sister's son?" his hand pointed at Estelle. "Is that my nephew?"

Jessica laughed uncomfortably.

Rey feels bad for Jessica, and she should have warned Jordy before she came. "No, I'm not his father, and you're not uncle."

Jordy looked at them for a while, then shrugged and said, "Okay," he turned around and gave his attention back to his homework.

"I'm sorry, if Jordy's not polite," said Rey slowly, he took Jessica to the room that Jessica had once occupied. Rey put Estelle's diaper bag on the dresser. “You want me to get an extra blanket for him?

Jessica nodded. Rey not only took the extra blanket, but also a lot of pillows for Estelle, she wanted the boy to comfortably sleep in her house. "She slept really well" Rey said as Jessica put Estelle in bed.

Jessica takes off her shoes and sits on the bedside, while Rey pulls the chair in front of Jessica. "What's been going on?"

Jessics sighed heavily “Daniel suddenly came to the apartment to pick up Estelle, then she saw our wine glass, your suit. Then he let out a terrifying reaction."

"What reaction?"

"He's upset. But he left before the situation got too bad."

"Did she know I was last night in your apartment?"

Jessica nodded. “That's the first thing he asked. He was angry, and I asked him to leave. And he did it. but...” he stopped talking, his hands trembling.

Rey pulled him towards her so Jessica's cheeks stuck to her chest and Rey hugged him. "What did he do that scared you, Jessie?"

Jessica whispered, “She pushed me against the wall, and she approached my face. I thought he was going to hit me, but my paradise didn't happen.” Jessica lifted her head and looked at Rey. “I'm fine, Rey. Nothing happened after that, I was just scared."

“He pushed you against the wall. That's nothing?”

Jessica put her head back on Rey's chest. "I know that, Rey. It's just I don't know what to do. Especially for Estelle, I once let Estelle stay with her, but now I don't want to, I'm afraid."

"Don't let Estelle stay with her again, you'll have to take her back to court.”

Jessica breathed a heavy sigh. Rey understands it's not easy for Jessica to bring Daniel to justice because she doesn't want her daughter to have an inmate's father, whatever decision Jessica Rey will make will support her, the most important thing for her is that Jessica and Estelle are already here, in a safe place. Rey doesn't mind if Jessica wants to stay in her house for a long time, she is willing to build a closeness with Estelle.

Jessica was finally able to smile again. Rey doesn't want to lose Jessica again, she is willing to do whatever it takes to make her comfortable and smile with him. "You thirsty?"

Jessica pushed down Rey's chest while grinning even bigger. "Yes. I'm thirsty and I'm hungry. Can I get you a meal and a drink?"

"As long as you're here, you'll have to eat whatever I make for you." Rey got up from her seat and walked to the kitchen to make Jessica lunch.

Jessica and Estelle had been at Rey's residence for about four hours. As soon as Jordy finished her homework, she started playing with Estelle on the beach. Jordy was so happy to lead Estelle in the sand, and there and there until Estelle cried because she was tired.

Rey immediately held her and gently swung her, until Estelle fell asleep on her shoulder. Jessica offers to move him to the room but Rey doesn't allow it.
