The last visit to the doctor apparently did not bring any changes to Mas Adji's legs. The condition of his legs is still the same, swollen at night and improving in the morning. Almost every night I wake up to compress Mas Adji's legs. That's why I'm getting less sleep.
I stick with my routine as a housewife as usual. But today I feel unwell, maybe the effect of sleep deprivation earlier. So I asked my usual neighbor to help me clean up the house, so I could rest to recover my body.
I used to ask him for help so I didn't have to explain what he had to do. I'll just pay him after he's done everything.
While my neighbor was cleaning up at home, I went to pick up Keisha. From Keisha school I immediately wanted to go home. But Likha asked me to come to her house so I stopped by. I think it's okay, other than needing a break maybe I also need some entertainment from my friend.
Although Likha was a close friend of mine, I never talked about my household to her. When I was with Likha I only talked about clothes, food and other little things that most women liked. That was entertaining enough for me.
Sometimes Likha also talks about her work, because she still works as an SPG. Honestly, it makes me want to go back to work.
Right at noon I came home from Likha's house. Arriving in front of the house I saw my in-laws motorcycle parked. My feelings were not good at all. I will definitely be my mother-in-law. Especially now that my neighbor is cleaning the house and I go somewhere.
I took a deep breath and prepared my heart before entering the house. I don't know what I'm gonna face in there.
"Yuk ... Looks like there's a symbol papa inside," I took Keisha off the bike.
"Yes Ma, that's papa's symbol motorcycle." Keisha pointed at the motor parked in the courtyard.
I'll get Keisha in. I went straight to the kitchen to avoid my father-in-law. I'm sure he's in Mas Adji's room right now. While in the kitchen I found my neighbor mopping the floor.
"Mbak ... My in-laws are coming?" ask me while whispering.
"Yes madam, it came straight out of anger because Winda was not at home," he replied with a whisper.
"Who from earlier?"
My neighbor nodded.
"Now in Mas Adji's room?" ask again.
My neighbor nodded his head.
"Yes, I met my in-laws first."
My neighbor nodded for the third time.
"We'll meet Papa Kei's symbol."
Kugandeng Keisha who was still wearing school uniform headed for Mas Adji's room. Just a few steps we walked, Mas Adji's room door opened. My in-laws came out of Mas Adji's room. Nothing yet he had put on a face that made me wary.
"Bus ... When's coming?" sapaku. I walked closer to shake hands with him.
"Once more!" answer my in-laws ketus.
I stopped my steps and expressed the intention to shake hands with my in-laws. Looking at his attitude towards me, I'm sure it's not necessary.
"Where did you come home at this hour? Is Adji sick again?!"
"I've already picked up Keisha's school."
"Get me to school until this hour? Keisha's coming home from school at what time? You must have stopped by first! Did you leave Adji at home alone?! If the husband is sick it is treated, not left wandering!"
My in-laws can't think a little positively about me.
"How long has Adji been sick? Until now there has been no progress, it turns out this is how you take care of your husband. Adji is not healing!"
I don't want Keisha to see her grandmother scolding me. Keisha nodded and immediately ran to his room.
"Actually your work at home is what?! Until they tell people to clean all the houses! You can't do anything?!"
I did not know what was wrong in the past, until God punished me by giving in-laws whose tongues were as sharp as this razor.
"Pity Adji has worked hard to meet your needs?! Every time she calls she hasn't come home because of overtime, but you're just fine like this!"
You don't know anything about your son, my mother-in-law!
"You must be a delicacy because Adji spoils you!"
I continued to quietly listen to the sentence after sentence coming out of my in-laws mouth. I'm not arguing or trying to explain because it won't do any good.
Only one thing I love, why my in-laws don't want to say hello to Keisha at all. She may hate me, but not Keisha. She's his granddaughter. Is there not the slightest desire to pinch the cheeks of keisha the puffer?
"You're Adji's wife! Don't just want to be good! Accept the money Adji want, Adji's turn is sick you don't want to nurse! It's so delicious so you! This is how you want to get a divorce from Adji?!"
"When Adji's father was sick, I treated him until he recovered! No one leaves like you!"
I remained calm and silent listening to everything that came out of my in-laws mouth. Not because I was afraid, but because I was trying to respect him.
I used to cry a lot after being scolded by my in-laws. But now what else do I have to cry about? I've been Mas Adji's wife for years, I'm used to it. Just shut up and listen. It will also stop on its own.
"I'll prepare lunch first Ma'am" I said after my in-laws seemed to run out of words to scold me.
"No need! Adji has eaten! I brought him some food!" my in-laws answered still with a tight fit.
"Or is Adji sick because you didn't feed him well?!"
It seems like no one told my in-laws the cause of Mas Adji's leg pain.
Although Mas Arya had warned not to let her mother know, but my lips were itching to tell my in-laws.
"Mas Adji is sick from drinking a lot of booze, ma'am, it's not my fault" I replied lightly.
I can't help myself. My in-laws should know how his son's real behavior is. His son was no longer the submissive boy he had grown up with. I don't care if he has a stroke or a heart attack like Mas Arya was worried about.
I'm sorry for being a brash daughter-in-law, but you started it...
"Don't talk carelessly! He doesn't know drinks like that! I raised Adji well!"
"If you don't believe me, you can ask Mas Adji. Or if you want, you ask the doctor who examined Mas Adji."
My in-laws were finally quiet.
"Excuse me ma'am, I have to get Mas Adji's medicine."
I left my in-laws and went into Mas Adji's room with a glass of water and medicine. Without saying anything, I handed the medicine over to Mas Adji. He immediately took the medicine I gave him.
"Excuse mother's words" Mas Adji said after he swallowed the medicine.
Obviously she heard everything her mother said to me because she scolded me right in front of Mas Adji's room.
