The next day I went to Keisha's school and found the administration to pay off all the tuition of Keisha's tuition. After everything was done, I enrolled Keisha in elementary school. A long-time favorite school that Adji and I had planned. It's a little expensive but I've always wanted the best education for Keisha.
Finished with the school business I went to the grocery store. I bought daily necessities for the next month, not forgetting milk for Keisha.
There's one more thing I have to do. I'm going to the jewelry store. I brought all the jewelry I had, leaving only the wedding ring still tucked in my ring finger. I intend to sell all my jewelry for Mas Adji's therapeutic costs. I want Mas Adji to heal so that he can escape this burden immediately.
After I finished with it all, I put my bike home. I feel relieved because at least I have stock of rice and groceries for the next month.
Arriving at home I immediately met Mas Adji.
"Tomorrow at noon you remain therapeutic Mas. I'll book a taxi online as usual."
We have not asked Mas Arya to deliver treatment. Mas Adji felt bad if he kept asking for his help.
"Didn't you use the money to pay for Keisha's tuition and this is also shopping for daily necessities. Is there any left?"
I'm nodding.
Mas Adji saw my groceries that did look quite a lot. But actually this is nothing compared to when Mas Adji was still working and could provide enough spending money.
"No need to win, it's better that money is for your hold."
"So I sold my jewelry."
I'm finally honest. Mas Adji was surprised to hear that.
"That's your jewelry, Win. Why are you selling? I can stop therapy first for a while, later if there's money I can go on again."
I did not answer suddenly my phone rang. It's not unusual for mom to call me so I picked up.
"What's wrong, ma'am?"
"It's Keisha crying all the time, she said with a stomachache." Mom's voice sounded panicked.
"Yes, I'm going to mom's house now." I'm turning off my phone.
"I'm going to go get Keisha. Mom said Keisha was crying because her stomach hurt."
I immediately left without waiting for an answer from Mas Adji. I ran to my mother's house because it was only a few houses away from mine.
"Why Keisha Ma'am?" I asked as soon as I got to my mother's house.
"Mom doesn't know Win either. Just complaining of stomach pain. I think it's catching a cold. I already love wind oil but it's so cry."
I approached Keisha who was still crying while curling up to hold her stomach.
"Where's sick, son? Stomach hurts?"
Keisha nodded weakly.
"We'll go see a doctor, okay? Let the medicine be given later to be cured."
Keisha nodded back.
"I'll take Keisha to the doctor."
Curse Keisha's body into my sling. Even though she's almost in SD for me she's still my little baby. I was still strong carrying his body even though the weight had multiplied many times.
"You got money Win? This ... Bring this money just in case."
I held out a few pieces of money. I know my financial condition very well. But can not accept his help because all this time mother has helped me a lot. He often bought me rice and vegetables, as well as pocket money for Keisha. I can't accept more.
"No, ma'am, I still have a stash. Later if I need money I'll borrow it with mom."
I put my feet up while carrying Keisha. Arriving home I lay him on the sofa . Adji was waiting there.
"Wait a minute baby, Mama, get your jacket."
...****************...
Two days have passed. Keisha still complains of stomach pain. Sometimes he has a fever and vomits after eating. I can't bear to see him crying in pain.
"I'll take Keisha to the hospital. I really can't bear to see it," I said after seeing Keisha vomit again, even this time with diarrhea.
Mas Adji nodded.
"I can't bear to see it either Win."
I drove my motorcycle while carrying Keisha to the hospital. Arriving at Keisha hospital directly handled by a doctor. There is no need to wait for the queue because it is eleven o'clock at night, the condition of the hospital is quiet.
The doctor said he would conduct laboratory tests to determine Keisha's disease for sure. I could only give up while waiting outside the examination room.
I don't know why it feels like dejavu. I see my surroundings. This is the hospital where I gave birth to Keisha. My mind drifted back to a few years ago. I remember when I came to this hospital alone to give birth, almost midnight was exactly the same as it is now.
I assure myself, this is not dejavu. I was alone, now I am alone. The difference was that my husband was out of nowhere, now my husband can't do anything.
After a long time, the lab results finally came out. The doctor stated that Keisha had appendicitis and had an infection. Must be operated immediately.
I can't believe the doctor's explanation. During this time Keisha never complained of any pain then suddenly exposed to appendicitis and had to be operated immediately.
"Do the necessary actions Doc" I said resignedly.
"We'll schedule the operation soon. Now you can accompany your child in the treatment room."
I nodded and immediately walked towards the room where Keisha was being treated.
No power these tears shed. I approached her small body which was now lying weak. I looked at her innocent face that was sleeping. My crying can't hold anymore.
Why should it be now? Why are the exams for me endless? I used to be able to give her the best treatment, but now?
I was crying so much. Not only crying over Keisha's condition but I also crying over my life.
After weeping, I called Mas Adji to tell him about Keisha's situation. I also called my mom to catch me tomorrow to the hospital and bring me a change of clothes and Keisha.
"Can this be Win? Has Keisha never been sick? While at home, she never complained. Keep operating when?"
Keisha spent a lot of time at my mother's house, so she also knew exactly the health condition of Keisha.
"I don't know Mom either. The doctor said it like that. Must be operated immediately so that the infection does not spread. The doctor will tell you the time." Hangup phone.
Her morning....
Mom has arrived at the hospital. He brought me what I asked for, a change of clothes for me and Keisha. I don't forget that I also brought breakfast for me.
"Pity my granddaughter" said the mother with a sad face. He saw Keisha who was still sleeping.
"Win ... You don't have to think about the cost of Keisha's hospital. Mom and Dad have a mistress. You can use it."
Mother's words made me more bitter. When I was married, I never had a shortage of money. And now my mother gave up her savings and my father to pay for Keisha hospital. No, I can't take it.
That's my parents' money. They've taken pains to collect it, it's a stash for their old days.
"I still have a little savings, Mom. I don't have to think about that."
"Win ... I know you're having a hard time with money. The cost of the operation is not small. Just save your savings for your other needs."
"No Ma'am, it's Mom and Dad's money" I replied firmly.
I'm stubborn, but I really don't want my parents to drain the savings for Keisha's hospital expenses. I've been troubling them a lot.
