Chapter 5

“So he's dead? Oh, my God, how did that happen?" Kerelyn widened her eyes in disbelief at what Eddy had just told her about the man who tried to hit her a few months ago.

"Yes, I don't know what the details are but the police found his body in an abandoned parking lot on the outskirts of Brooklyn."

Kerelyn was silent for a while, she still looked shocked by the news she heard this afternoon, someone who either intentionally or not tried to hurt her first, had now been killed by someone else.

"Are the cops sure he's the same guy who tried to run me over?"

Eddy looked at Kerelyn from behind his coffee cardboard glass while raising an eyebrow at Kerelyn's reaction to what she had just said.

"Yes, the police have identified the body, and the man is the same person who was caught on street CCTV when he tried to run you over."

Kerelyn fell silent again, sipping thick coffee hoping that caffeine could calm her nerves a little.

"Did the police know why the man wanted to hit me?"

Deeply regretfully Eddy shook his head, "Not yet, the police suspect that it was purely an accident. It means he didn't mean to hit you, given the high alcohol content and it's certain that he was also a drug user, too, it could have been that night he was driving a car drunk and accidentally almost hit you." Eddy gave an explanation according to what he heard from the police officers yesterday.

Kerelyn breathed a sigh of relief, the tightness in her chest slightly raised knowing that the man had accidentally wanted to harm her. All this time he was overcome with worry what if the man intended to kill him? Especially after last night he got the information that Simon was free. A knock on the door of his dugout resuscitated the woman from her daydream, a man in a red baseball cap loosened his head in the doorway.

"Kerelyn, as soon as shooting starts, the director asks you to get ready on set."

"Well, we'll be there now" Eddy replied, standing up from his chair, "It's over, you're safe now, Kerelyn," said Eddy, smiling as he made the woman before him feel calm, "Ok, now is the time to make dollars" he continued, pulling Kerelyn to stand up from sitting.

"You're right, it's over, it's time to work!"

They both laughed as they walked out of the locker room towards the shooting location, but without them realizing someone was lurking among the hustle and bustle of the people there.

Daniel stared at his computer screen seriously, his hands agilely dancing on the keyboard and occasionally his hands would move to hold the mouse just to move the tursor to where he wanted. She is currently editing her photos yesterday with Kerelyn and Matt as models.

"Man, that's amazing." Daniel smiled at the voice of his co-worker, Paul, who was now pulling a chair and sitting next to Daniel, "Tell me, is she as beautiful as this picture or more beautiful?"

Paul's eyes could not be seen staring at Daniel's computer screen where a photo of Kerelyn embracing Matt's neck, his left leg raised to wrap his partner's right leg, his cleavage revealed to show the artist's smooth legs, his eyes looked at the camera with a seductive expression.

"He was just plain," replied Daniel casually who immediately got a look of disbelief from Paul.

"Man, are you double?" paul asked in disbelief, "He.. Kerelyn Howard, the hot girl with the gun in the FBI series, the rising artist, and you say you're ordinary?"

Daniel just shrugged his shoulders casually which made Paul throw a heavy breath while exclaiming, "She's hot, Man!" His eyes were round with fiery looks, a wide smile adorning his face, some as he looked at Daniel with vigor, seconds changing minutes, the two men still glanced at each other, some as he looked at Daniel, paul's eyes were still fiery from the spirit but the spirit slowly began to dim because there was still no reaction from Daniel who just looked at him casually by raising his eyebrows.

"Daniel, are you.. normal?" Paul asked with sparkling eyes filled with curiosity, he could already imagine the headline in his magazine gossip column, with a picture of Daniel being blurred.

Daniel is now looking at Paul lazily, he has known his partner for a long time and he can guess what is inside the head of the metrosexual man in tight clothes at this time. His mouth was open when his phone rang.

"It looks like you have to look for other gossip" Daniel said, patting the man on the shoulder before standing up and passing in front of Paul who now looks disappointed at losing his big news.

"Hallo."

"Daniel, have you thought about who will be your partner at my wedding?"

Daniel rolled his eyes when he heard the voice of his sister, Emily. Almost every day the girl asks the same question about who will be her partner on Emily and Dylan's wedding day. They had been dating not long ago, but they had known each other for a long time, from friends to love, Daniel thought it only happened in the stories of novels or films, only, but her sister experienced it.

It was Calista, Dylan's younger brother who was getting married first to Theo, but Mr. McArtur asked Dylan to start his position as leader of the Royal Group and settle in London. Daniel smiled at his brother's desperate voice.

"Have you asked the others?"

Emily took a deep breath before answering Daniel's question.

"Alex is still busy with his disguise (whispering), but we don't have to worry about him, he can get a partner at the last minute, while Gerard I plan to pair it with Raina."

"Raina? Is he coming?" Daniel smiles considering his cousin Raina Anastasya, his maternal cousin, a beautiful, jovial and tomboyish Indonesian girl, their age is not too far away makes them have a closer relationship than the other cousins.

"Yes, she called me earlier that she was going to run away here, because her parents were going to set her up."

"Again?"

"Yes. again."

The two of them laughed at the thought of how many times the girl had been in a match that ended with her parents having a seven-round headache because the girl was always messing with her, and now that she's running away means her parents can't accept rejection anymore.

"And you're gonna pair it with Gerard? Oh, my God, Em, I have to warn Gerard not to talk about strange things if he still wants to survive."

Emily laughed again at her brother's words.

"He's not that bad, D."

"Why don't you pair him with Alex?"

"Oh no. I don't want that innocent kid tainted by the NYPD's Don Juan, the only one who can stand the charm and can control it is just Lexa."

"You're right, why don't you pair Alex and Lexa?"

"And we'll hear their quarrels during the party?"

Daniel laughs at Emily's desperate tone, "But only she can keep Alex away from the women at the party, you should've seen how she kept away the woman who tried to tease Alex at Theo's engagement party yesterday." Daniel laughed again considering how his brother had made Alex's reputation fall slightly that night.

"Oh my God, you're right.I've heard it from Gerard" Emily said, "Well then, I'll call Alexa so she doesn't have to find another partner... and you, Brother, hurry and find your partner or I'll introduce you to one of my friends at the office, okay?"

"Well, don't worry" Daniel said before disconnecting.
