Chapter 26

“The door is locked!” Gerard tried to push the door of the room that Simon's men had left behind.

“Let me try to open it.” Gerard shifted, Raina crouched down at the door but it was harder than she expected. He looked around but found nothing to open the door until he saw something in Gerard's chest.

“Gerard, can I borrow that?” Raina asked as she pointed at the silver tie clip on Gerard's chest which looked puzzled.

“This?” ask while opening the clip and give it to Raina.

“It's perfect.”

“Iya indeed it was so amazing, I got it when I... hey! What are you doing?” Gerard exclaimed after seeing what Raina did to her beloved clip.

The girl straightened the clip and made it the key to open the door, and when their eyes sparkled when they heard a click, Raina opened it and entered the room. Gerard comes in and closes the door to the room which turns out Simon Javier's workspace, Raina gives the clip back and she can only take a heavy breath when she sees the clip of her beloved has changed shape. Raina kept walking towards the table where there was a set of computers, she held the box and she could feel that it was still a little hot which meant that someone had just used the computer, he sat on the black leather chair and started to turn it back on.

“What exactly are you looking for here?” Gerard walked up to Raina out of curiosity as to what the woman was doing, “We'd better leave now, Daniel and the others are waiting for us.”

“Before a while. I believe the evidence is in this computer,” Raina said while staring at the computer that started but he immediately cursed when he saw the computer using a password.

“Soaring!” gerard's orders were directly obeyed Raina.

“Can you open it?” raina asked as she stood beside Gerard whose fingers started dancing on the keybord nimbly.

“Give me a little time,” he said with eyes fixed focused staring at the computer screen, seeing Gerard look serious in front of the computer made Raina's chest beat great, so that, he stared at the man for a while before puffing and then moved away from him.

He walked towards the door then opened it a little and peeked at the conditions outside, to be honest it was just a distraction from the man who had attracted his attention from the first time, but he knew how the man felt, who only considered him a cousin of his best friend. While the woman he likes is down there, the woman who is just as smart as he is, the woman that Daniel says is like Gerard in a woman's body, while he is very much different from her, he likes challenges, he likes challenges, tomboy, impatient, and doing things on a spontaneous basis is different from Gerard who is all-planned.

“Successful!” Raina awakens from her daydream, closes the door and returns to where Gerard is still sitting in front of the computer with his face. Damnit damnit!

“What are you looking for?” ask Gerard while staring at the computer and start going to my library.

“The bookkeeper belongs to Simon Javier,” said Raina who made Gerard stare at him in disbelief, “I accidentally heard Simon's men say that the people at the party were very stupid, they did not know that the donation Simon was talking about would be channeled to cancer patients just as a cover, they make Simon's foundation as a place to launder money from drug sales and other illegal money.”

“Backed!” gerard muttered when he heard Raina's explanation.

“Therefore we must get the proof and hand it to Alex before they eliminate him.”

They again seriously look at the computer screen trying to find a file that stores the drug dealer's financial statements.

“Try that one,” Raina said while pointing to a folder with the name “Javier’s Foundation”, Gerard clicked on that folder and found some files, and then found some files, some of the files were not stolen because they were left open until Gerard finally found a locked file, they looked at each other and believed that it was the file they were looking for.

“Can you open it?” Raina asked anxiously.

“Can you copy it?” raina asked enthusiastically.

Gerard nodded then pulled the car key out of his pants pocket, in one of the key chains there is a blue flashdisc, “I know one day will be useful in an emergency like this, he said,” he said while peeling the small square object and then installing it on the CPU of Simon's computer.

Raina smiled at Gerard's action, “You are indeed a true IT,” he said while patting the man on the shoulder.

Gerard began to copy the data, his fingers tapping the table impatiently when he saw the percentage of the copying process that felt slow, raina bit her fingernails again with her focused eyes staring at the monitor screen as seriously as Gerard did. They breathed a sigh of relief while looking at each other with sparkling eyes when the number showed 100%, Gerard immediately pulled the flash, then deleted the data record on the computer to remove the trace, he said, he had just turned off his computer when they heard the sound of a gun eruption followed by the jetting of people from the first floor, but then instantly became silent.

They stared at each other with wide-eyed eyes, but Gerard soon recovered from his shock, he pulled Raina out of the room, they ran down to the first floor but at once their steps came to a halt, as fast as lightning they went back to hiding behind the wall.

The hearts of the two were racing, their eyes wide open when they saw what was happening inside the party room attended by the important person of the American capital. Several people with full weapons surrounded the party room, they pointed their weapons at the pale invited guests, Raina and Gerard looked at each other before they soundlessly returned to the room.

“What is really going on?” Whispering Raina while looking at Gerarad seriously, the man now walked back and forth in the room trying to think what they should do at the moment.

“Gerard! Explain what really happened?” raina's birthday, which made the bespectacled man stop pacing back and forth, then looked at Raina for a moment before finally starting to explain about his current condition.

Raina fell silent after hearing Gerard's explanation, “So this was supposed to be the night of the arrest for Simon?” Gerard nodded in response, “But now it is we who are trapped by him,” he continued, his body trembling, nervously he bit his fingernails while pacing back and forth, she was arguably a martial arts expert but she was just an ordinary woman who had never been in a situation like in a Hollywood action film, and now her body felt a great fear.

“Hey.... everything will be fine, we will think of a way out, ok?” whispered Gerard while looking into Raina's black eyes that look very frightened, some time Raina just silent staring at the shady eyes behind the glasses, just a moment, then he nodded while believing in his heart that everything would be fine.

“What should we do now?” raina whispered as she looked at Gerard hoping that the man before her had a way out of their current troubles. Gerard was silent for a while before he finally remembered something, he pulled out his phone and contacted Daniel who immediately picked up his phone on the first ring.

“Where are you? What happened?” It was Daniel's whisper that made Gerard furrow his brows.

“Why are you whispering? Don't tell me you're in here?” Gerard growled to find that it could happen, seeing Raina turn her eyes to hear the words of the man beside her.

“Lexa, caught up with you guys for too long and I just got to the entrance to catch up with her when I heard the gunshots.”

“Sial!” Gerard curses after finding out that Alexa is down there, “D, we are on the second floor, on the west balcony can you head here?”

“Good, I'll be there.”

“What happened?” Raina asked after seeing Gerard hang up her phone.

“Lexa, is under.”

The instant the black haired girl covered her mouth using her palm, her body went back limp she felt the deepest regret.
