Carl was silent. Not saying anything, but the green net shows a pent-up sadness. Many times I heard a strong breath on him. I don't know what's in his heart now? Was he sad to see his wounded mother? Or was it Adry and Janeta's quarrel that had hurt him? No one knows because Carl is the type of head of the household who rarely speaks or comments on a problem. Usually he always entrusts family matters to Janeta.
His footsteps stopped when he stared at the door of the ICU room where Roy was. His gaze was fixed on the figure where Roy's weak body lay.
"Who, Brother?" karina asked whispering to Raina.
"Father-in-law" replied Raina. Karina was stunned looking at Roy's foster father. He's like Adry's twin, just a different generation.
"I want to see Roy closer myself." Adry nodded his head in understanding. She and Raina then sat in the front waiting chair of the room. Carl came into the room after changing his hospital clothes.
"Is Roy conscious?" ask Adry. Karina shook her head. They stared at the door of the room and breathed together.
"Where's Regina, sister?" ask Karina.
"Together with Leon, his brother."
"Well, brother Rere is coming. He must be so happy."
"At first won't but after being together for half an hour Rere wants to come with his brother."
"The blood is thick, know who his brother is. Honey, I'm an only child so I don't know what it's like to have a brother."
"I also have a sister, it's just that our relationship isn't very close."
Karina was surprised to stare at Raina but her gaze looked ordinary again afterwards. He was not the type of person who wanted to know someone's problem more deeply.
"Then may I regard you as a brother?" ask Karina. Raina turned her head, smiled, then placed her hand on Karina's hand and squeezed it.
"That's why you married Roy, so we can be in-laws" Raina said. Karina looked down embarrassed while moving her legs.
"I will calm down if Roy has found the mooring of his heart" continued Adry who heard the talk of his wife and Karina. His guilt for taking Nita from Roy will be reduced a little and the burden on his heart will be gone.
He felt that his uneventful domestic life with Nita was the karma of his deeds. Basically, Roy and Nita are the perfect couple but it was him who had ruined it. Living happily on top of his sister's suffering, it sounded cruel and inhumane. Adry breathed a heavy sigh.
Karina who looked at Adry after hearing the man's response. He did not expect if they supported him to be close to Roy.
In the ICU room. Carl sits in front of Roy's body. The man's eyes closed. Only the sound of the support device is heard clearly and Roy breathes with the help of Ventilator.
Carl looked at Roy's chest with bandages. Trembling he brought his hand closer to touching the chest. The heat in his eyes began to feel again. His view was blurry covered by dew in the netra. A drop after a drop of clear circles he could not bear anymore when he touched Roy's chest.
"I'm sorry, I'm your father for not being able to make you happy to this day." Finally the words came out of Carl's lips.
"I don't deserve to call you Dad. I'm too much of a coward to expose this truth to everyone. There's no good reason to justify all of my actions."
"For me, you're the perfect kid. I can always do what I want without ever complaining. You also always understand everyone's feelings and always succumb to your brother."
"The one thing that made me feel sad until now was when I saw you shed tears while staring at the woman you love marrying your sister. At that time I wanted to hug you but I didn't do it for some unnecessary reason. In fact, I told you to let Nita live with Adry."
"I thought you'd find another woman who could make you happy. However, no. You still love her." Carl breathed a heavy breath. Heavy weight seemed to be squeezing his chest.
He was surprised to see a wet spot in Roy's eye patch. His son listened to what he was talking about.
"Conscious, son, that your father may pay for my mistake. To give you happiness." Carl's voice rattled and choked. Then his sobs began to sound.
He was silent for a long time looking at his son deeply and rubbed Roy's hand that he held.
"It seems your father doesn't deserve to apologize to you for not being able to be a good father. A father worthy of your love."
"If you wake up, I promise I'll be the best dad for you and do whatever makes you happy."
"Maybe we can fish together on the spree river, near the Spree River, the Lusantian Mountains and then take a boat together through Bautzen and Spremberg. That's what you always do when you're on vacation. I know all your activities but back again, I always pretended to be a cold dad."
Carl laughed in his tears. "It's all I do to keep your mother feeling. I don't want him to hate you. I just want us all to live together in peace and quiet." Carl swallowed his Saliva hard. He bowed back and raised his hand and Roy kissed him.
"I'm glad to see you're with her often. I thought your relationship was close. In fact, now he's shooting at you. Apparently his disappointment and anger at me was still lingering and then he poured it on you. I can't prevent it. If I had been assertive, it might not have been like this."
"However, wood has become charcoal. We can't change what happened. I can only pray that God and you give me a chance to change everything so that we can be together again."
"Wake, Son. For your father's sake. Get up, this is your father's request, are you going to ignore it?" carl's voice sounded desperate. He then hid his face in bed.
Roy's fingers began to move slowly, making the Carl who was holding him surprised.
"A. I never ignored Dad's orders," Roy's voice began to sound soft. Carl opened his mouth wide and laughed loudly. Roy opened his eyes slowly.
"I know that, you're my best son" Carl got up and kissed Roy on the forehead.
"I'll call the doctor" said Carl about to get out. But Roy's hand was tight.
"Dad, when are we fishing again?"
Carl's stunned. Then smile. "After you recover, we'll definitely go fishing like we used to" he said.
