TASKS IN THE FIELD

Because the housing is still one area with the company, so I do not need to bother using a taxi or ojek to go there, because such transportation does not exist in this area. I was walking to my new office.

I was immediately greeted and delivered to my table. I circled the room with my tail. It was very different from the office I had worked in before. But I still feel surprised, if this company is still new then why they are able to pay me high even nearly 2x than my previous salary.

I was taken to the cafeteria by another employee. I already have friends in the company. From them I know that it turns out that there has been someone who served in my current position before, but he resigned because he could not stand the state of the territory far from the crowd and the signal was also a major factor. In addition, because the company is still short of Employees, it is not uncommon for other Employees to get more tasks.

Now I understand why they could pay me almost 2x my starting salary. The location of the company is very far from the crowds and shopping centers. The road to get there is also difficult to reach if the rainy season arrives. There is no network to communicate with, and even if we are desperate, we have to find a plateau to find a signal. The company only provides transportation once a week to get to the city. And that's if you're still sitting. If you want to rent a taxi then we have to pay the taxi with the amount many times. There's no good thing a salary goes up if everyone has to cover all of that transportation costs. I should have been more thorough when I accepted the job offer. Now I can only mourn my stupidity.

The night after performing the maghrib prayer I went to the kitchen to check my food storage cabinet. Lucky I brought some biscuits and other instant food yesterday. But none of that food makes me tasteful. I really want to eat martabak. But there are no martabak sellers here. I almost cried because I didn't get what I wanted. I ended up sleeping without dinner.

The morning came, I was ready with my work clothes. But this time I chose heels that are not too high. I also wear my toad pants that fit right on my body, and a top in the form of a woman's shirt. I saw some female employees there wearing clothes like that too yesterday.

This time I no longer feel uncomfortable when I walk. Not like yesterday when I was wearing a tight span with a challenging-looking butt. There were some male employees who had looked at me with strange looks and some even whistled at that time.

I returned the greetings of some of my friends in the office and occupied my work chair.

Not long ago I was summoned to my superior's room yesterday. I knocked on the door and entered.

"Mother called me?"

"Oh, yes. Please sit down."

I also occupied the chair in front of my superior table.

"After lunchtime we will take to the field to see firsthand the development of this company and you will know what your job is?"

"Yes, sir."

"All right, that's all. Is there anything you want to ask?"

"No. Then excuse me to go back to my room" said my ex.

I went back to my chair imagining how I would be outside the office.

"What's wrong?" Ask one of my friends.

"Later in the afternoon I will be on the field" I replied.

"Well, nothing has been done yet." My friend giggled at me.

The break was over, and I returned to my room after lunch with my friends. Not long after my boss came to my desk and immediately took me away. I almost forgot I had a job outside that afternoon.

Good thing that day I was wearing pants, so it would be easier for me to walk in the project area of the company. I was in shock when I got there. There was only a vast empty land. I was thinking I'd see a plantation or a building.

"Sir, why is this land empty? What are we gonna do here?" I immediately asked my boss.

"This is our company road that will connect to some villages. With the new road, the company will be easier to reach and it will be easier for the company to recruit new employees" he explained.

"Oh."

The man also looked at me with the same gaze. I tried to be indifferent even though my brain was still trying to remember who that man was.

I focused on doing my job even though I was a bit uncomfortable because I was the only woman there.

An hour and a half in the hot sun made my head start to feel dizzy.

"Drink, first." The man I thought was no stranger gave me a bottle of mineral water.

I took it and drank the water because I was thirsty. Not to mention I have to wait for my boss who is still talking to his colleagues.

"No idea, yes we can meet here," said the man.

"I forgot, where have we met?" Ask me.

"You're Anita, right?"

I shut up for a moment and nodded. I'm curious about that guy.

"Although you forgot about me, but I remember you very much. We met once in the village where you came from, my name is Fauzan."

I can finally remember that guy. "Oh, sorry. Yes, now I remember" I said.

"It's okay, I'm used to being forgotten," he replied chuckling.

"But not in the same lupain his girlfriend, right, Bang?" I said reply to Bang Fauzan's joke.

"No, because I don't have a boyfriend yet."

"Oh, I hope to have a girlfriend soon, Bang."

"I don't want a girlfriend, but I want a wife." And Bang Fauzan again chuckled.

We were so caught up in that pretty relaxed conversation. In the heat of the hot sun that afternoon, I became a little entertained by Bang Fauzan's joke. It turned out that he was a very relaxed and humorous person as well. I'm not as stiff anymore as when I first met.
