A day has now passed. However, the four of them had not yet reached their destination, even though the trees they saw were getting bigger.
The obstacles always come. There were many undead or monsters they encountered. They even met a group of butterflies and managed to survive the terrible monster. This is not an easy thing.
Along the way, they did not find any other living demons. Most of them became undead or bones. There was nothing they could help destroy the big tree.
The hope of destroying the tree was like wishful thinking.
Rafa and Nevan sat leaning against each other. They catch their breath because of fatigue. Every night, they only sleep for a few hours, then sometimes there is an attack. Not to mention, in the morning until the afternoon they continued to run towards the big tree and meet the enemy midway.
This was the first time they had to fight for almost a full day. There is no safe place to live. Even for a short break, just a little. They need to be extra careful and alert to any small things around. Their situation was almost like life and death.
Rafa had a pale face. He felt he could not stand it. His body was hot, and so was his face. He felt dizzy and weak. Obviously, his condition is not okay.
Nevan was stunned when she felt Rafa's back getting heavier. He glanced back, "Rafa?"
"..."
There was no answer to any of the subjects he asked making Nevan frown. He slowly moved away from Rafa's body while using his hands to hold his brother's body from falling.
When successfully laid Rafa's body, Nevan only realized it. The young man was unconscious. His eyes were closed with sweat spots forming on his neck and forehead. He gave a worried expression when he saw Rafa's face that looked pale.
Nevan patted the young man's cheek gently to wake him up. However, there was no reaction. Rafa just continued to close his eyes firmly and his expression looked unfavorable.
Nevan spontaneously put the back of her hand on Rafa's forehead to check things out. Before long, he immediately jolted, "His body is very hot. Uncle..? Need's? Rafa's.. He's sick."
Radolf and Need, who were burning fish near the river, looked back when they heard the sound.
Radolf's expression turned alarmed and rushed over to his son. He touched Rafa's forehead and spontaneously kept him away from the heat, "He had a fever. The heat is very high."
"Then what should we do? There's no cure here" Nevan replied anxiously.
As they were silent with each other, Need walked over and put a wet cloth on Rafa's head. This left the two people beside Rafa stunned.
"I got it when we finished off the undead before," without being asked, Need seemed to know what was on these two people's minds.
Nevan was speechless when she saw Need pass her by and go back to burning the fish. He looked at Rafa's face, "I'll take care of him, uncle. So uncle just help him."
Radolf looked at Rafa anxiously. All her life as long as she took care of Rafa, her son had never had a fever like this. It happened only once. Then Rafa arrived back with a fever now, this made him very worried. "Did she have a fever before when she lived with you and your father?"
Nevan turned his head when he heard the question from his uncle. He nodded, "He never had a fever. Just a cough or a cold."
Radolf looked back at his son with anxiety, "It seems like he's been pushing himself. He's been fighting for most of the day, then he's been treating all of us. The power must have been very drained. But he kept pushing himself. I should have forced him so hard that he wouldn't treat me."
Nevan agreed. He also sometimes refuses to be healed, but Rafa continues to force him. He knew Rafa had used up too much of his energy, but despite being forced to stop, Rafa remained stubborn.
"No, Dad. I'm fine," Rafa opened his voice, but his eyes remained closed.
Hearing Rafa's voice, Nevan became convinced that his brother was conscious, "Don't push himself. You better take a break. Anyway, it's night. No need to worry about anything, now worry about yourself."
"But I'm really good just–"
"From the beginning you kept pushing yourself. Whether fighting, healing, watching, or mentally. You think I don't know if you're scared, huh?"
"Who is afraid?"
"No need to cover it up from me anymore. I already know. How long do you think we've been together? I know you very well."
Rafa didn't answer anything. But his forehead was getting wrinkled due to dizziness and injuries to his body.
"Now rest, think nothing," Nevan said slowly. "If you're hungry, you can eat fish first. After that, you can sleep."
Rafa shook his head, "No, I'm not hungry."
Nevan exhaled softly and looked at Radolf. He nodded as if to entrust Rafa to him.
Radolf nodded slowly, then immediately went to approach Need and sat down beside him. It helps in burning fish.
Only Nevan is conscious right now. He keeps Rafa and occasionally goes to the river to cool the compresses again. He was tired and sleepy, but continued to push himself. When he almost fell asleep, he would pinch his own cheek.
There are no stars in the sky. The sky was so dark without a speck of light.
Nevan's head was slightly bowed with tired eyes, yet he re-enforced his head and blinked many times to throw off the drowsiness, "Haishh.."
Nevan sighed and shook her head. He immediately pinched his cheek and looked at Rafa who was asleep on the ground. He actually wanted to hold his head, but he occasionally had to go to the river. He will only disturb Rafa's sleep later if he continues to do so. He just gave a banana leaf as a blanket for her.
Although he compresses it every once in a while, but still the heat does not go down. Even let alone down, the heat sometimes increases or returns to the initial condition. There was no good improvement in his condition. Nevan is getting worried. His brother never had a fever while he was with him.
While looking at Rafa's face, his hearing caught the sound of footsteps. He frowned and immediately stood beside Rafa, as if protecting her. His gaze was directed at the darkness that was not lit by the bonfire. He gulped as he felt that step was getting closer.
Quickly, he bit his thumb and crossed his left palm with his own blood. Instantly, a dagger appeared in his hand. He grasped it firmly and a sharp eye gaze was directed at the origin of the sound.
"Well.. I didn't expect that there would still be demons living in that place. Seriously. How can they still live, even though their residence is quite close to the tree? I thought maybe all the demons around him were dead, but in fact some of them were still alive. It turned out that this world was very vast huh, many powerful demons yet unknown to the others.
They can be the commander if they are lucky. They are just ordinary citizens. Haish... Very unfortunate. Are you planning on making another place? If it's like that, maybe you can get them to be part of your subordinates?"
"...."
"Aren't you going to answer? I'm very curious."
"Shhhh.."
"Hm? You why? What's up?"
"It looks like there's light."
"You mean over there? Then let's go there!"
"You–"
Nevan was shocked when someone arrived out of the darkness. He threw a dagger in his hand which directly led to the body of the figure.
Shuutt
Grepp
The dagger was held up well by the figure. He flanked it with two fingers and stopped the dagger. This made Nevan stunned and became even more vigilant.
While the figure was surprised. He blinked and looked at who had already thrown this dagger.
Nevan's forehead wrinkled faintly when she saw the faintly faint face seen by him. He blinked and tried to remember. A memory flashed through his mind when he saw the figure's face, "You–why are you here?!"
Nevan was so shocked when she saw that the one in front of her was the young man. The young man who met him as he was trapped in the spirit world.
"You–Ah, I thought we'd meet again. But I didn't think our meeting would be this fast" said the young man. He smiled thinly. His name is Kite.
"I've told you heart" said one who was with Kite.
"Ah.., no need to worry. After all, the one we met wasn't the enemy" Kite replied casually.
"Stay with it."
"It's okay, he's really not the enemy. Really, he's not a rotten undead or a monster."
Nevan's eyes now turned to look at the person standing next to Kite. He frowned when less light illuminated the face. But when that person got closer to Kite, he could only see her well.
His eyes were rounded in surprise with an expression that could not be hidden. The person who was with Kite had a youth-like look of around 18 years old. With black hair, red eyes and a cold face, it made him look intimidating.
But that was not what surprised him, but rather his face that was similar to someone he knew. At first he hesitates, but when Kite calls his name, it makes him even more distrustful.
"Don't look at me like that, Leon. I'm really innocent."
