Chapter 6. Joseph, Fathir, and Halima

"What's? That woman is pregnant!" Grandfather was very surprised by this news. His feet are losing energy. He fell into the iron chair he had been sitting on.

"Do you know the home address or family contacts you can contact?" the Doctor asked as he looked at Grandfather with great pity. 

"No. I even just saw the girl today" replied the Grandpa.

"Ustadz Yusuf, how is the girl?" asked a shady-looking young man running over to Grandfather with a severed breath.

"Gus Fathir, can you please find the girl's family information!" pinta's grandfather named Yusuf (not Cantika's father let alone Asiah's father) was.

"Ustadz take it easy, let me get the girl's family information" said the man, often called Gus Fathir.

"Guest immediately because the patient must be operated!" tell that doctor.

"Doctor just do his best to save the girl. Operating costs don't worry, we'll pay" Fathir said.

     Fathir returned to the crash site and asked the people who were there. They can only tell the name and address of the Aulia boarding house. Fortunately the owner of the boarding house has a copy of Aulia's ID card. He also came to the house according to the address in the ID card.

     The fact that Fathir found out greatly shocked him. If the girl turned out to be an orphan whose father had just died about 2 months ago. Even the girl named Aulia was young and unmarried.

"Son, Aulia's fine, isn't she?" ask Mr. RT after talking to Fathir.

"Yes, Mr. RT. He needs to be taken care of, I'm looking for his family to tell them this. Then let us take care of everything" replied Fathir.

"I picked Aulia first, I'm with my family going to see our parents off the island. Maybe we'll be gone in about 2 weeks. As long as I take Aulia, we will pick her up," said Mr. RT with a sad face.

"We'll keep Aulia until she recovers, Mr. RT. This is our responsibility to him" said Fathir.

"Thank you" said Mr. RT pleased.

      Fathir did not inform her that Aulia was pregnant and had to undergo a cesarean section because her baby could not be saved anymore. He chose silence rather than opening someone's disgrace.

     Fathir returned to the hospital and saw Grandpa Yusuf sitting asleep in front of a nursery. Aulia's operation is complete. He also looked for a doctor who handled Aulia earlier, to ask for post-surgery conditions.

"Everything's fine. Miss Aulia could also still have a chance to get pregnant again later. His body condition is also in prime condition. By doing the treatment according to the provisions, he will recover quickly," explained the doctor and it makes Fathir feel happy.

     While waiting for Aulia to come to her senses, Fathir sat down beside Grandpa Yusuf. He closed his eyes for a moment before performing the evening prayer. 

     At 03:00, Fathir's cell phone alarm went off and woke him and Grandpa Yusuf. The two men went to the hospital mosque. They pray qiyaumul lail and pray for good and health for Aulia. 

     After reciting to the Lord of the Universe and praying to the beloved prophet. Fathir told Aulia what he already knew about her to Grandfather Joseph.

     Around 10:00 Aulia had just regained consciousness. He was shocked to find himself in a hospital room. 

"You're sober, Aulia." A soft voice greeted Aulia's ears.

"Whose grandmother?" aulia asked when she found an old woman sitting next to her bed.

"Make my name Halimah, the wife of the old man you helped last night," the grandmother replied with a smile and her hands gently stroked Aulia's head.

     Aulia fell silent and enjoyed the gentle caress on her head. He shed his tears, a longing for his mother suddenly burst into his heart. The tender caress of a mother that she had been missing lately.

     Suddenly Aulia felt her stomach hurt so much that she complained of pain and grimaced with extreme pain. He was surprised when he realized that his stomach was now flat not bulging as usual.

"My baby! My boy!" shout Aulia.

     The door opened and displayed the figure of Grandpa who had been helped by Aulia last night and a handsome young man. They went inside because they heard Aulia's cry.

"Patience, Son. The doctor has tried his best to help your daughter. But destiny says something else. The beautiful baby would rather return to the lap of the Creator," Grandma Halimah said with her sobs held back.

"I want my baby" Aulia said as she wept and looked at Grandma Halimah.

"Son, patience. Later your daughter will wait for your arrival at the door of heaven. Relieve him, son," said Grandpa Yusuf with teary eyes. He felt sorry to see Aulia's current state.

"I have no one else but the baby. He's my only family. And now he's gone and left me alone. O God, it is not enough that You punish me" said Aulia, weeping.

"Patience, Son. There's still us. If you want, let us be your adoptive parents" Grandpa Yusuf said.

"Aulia .. would you like to be our daughter?" grandma asked Halimah while caressing Aulia's face and wiping away the poor girl's tears.

"No, Grandpa and Grandma will be angered by God for making me your adopted son. Everyone I love dies one by one. I am a sinful woman" said Aulia with sobs that sounded bitter in the ears of the three who were there.

"God is Most Merciful, He will forgive the sins of His repentant servant and ask forgiveness of Him" said Joseph's grandfather, who now stands beside Aulia.

"What Ustadz Yusuf said just now. As great as any sin, Allah will forgive his servant as long as his life is withdrawn to the esophagus. You can still repent to Him. Don't waste your time while you're alive. Seek the graces, gifts, and blessings of the Owner of Life" Fathir continued.

"If you live alone and have no family to return to, come with us. Think of us as your parents, let us take care of and protect you, Aulia," said Grandpa Yusuf solemnly.

"I'm afraid to make you ashamed because of this despicable me" Aulia said in a squeaking voice.

"Everyone has sins. It's just .. only those who want good for the rest of their lives and happiness in the hereafter, who repent and do not want to fall into sin again. You can become a new person by repenting so that Allah forgives your sins" Grandpa Joseph softly concluded.

"Yes, Son. You must not despair. While life is still contained in the body, you still have the right to live happily in this world," Grandma Halimah said with broken eyes.
