My madam, my poison

My madam, my poison
Outpouring

"Where are you from, son?" asked Mom after I entered the living room.

"I'm a tour ticket agent."

"You want a vacation? Why not take mom?"

"This ticket ain't for me, ma'am."

"Want to?"

"I'll give it to Darren's brother as Darren's birthday present. It seems too ordinary to give him a gift of goods. So I gave him a gift of a honeymoon ticket to the island of the Gods."

"They've been married eight years. What can still be said newlyweds."

"There's no rule that says a honeymoon is only for newlyweds, right?"

"Bi, please make me a cold drink" I said as I lay my head on the sofa."

"Well, ma'am," said bi Ami from the kitchen.

"You're okay, aren't you?" ask mother.

"Why do you ask that."

"It seems like your mood is not good. Is there something that makes you angry and upset?"

"Ah, it's just Mom's feeling. I was thirsty from then on."

"Why not stop by the cafe to buy a cold drink?"

"Home drinking is much healthier, isn't it?"

"Drink, Mom." Bi Ami moved a large glass of my favorite cold melon syrup from the tray onto the table.

"Thank you, Bi." I grabbed that glass. Whether the afternoon air was so hot or because my heart was currently burning with jealous fire, a glass of drink in the size of a glass that was large enough with me to gulp quickly to no noise.

"You want more drinks, ma'am?" ask Bi Ami.

"Can."

"Gosh, Zura. Why is your behavior so strange?"

"What's so weird, Mom?"

"Where have you ever drank that greedy."

"Mom sure something happened."

"There's nothing, ma'am. I pray Dzuhur first." I went from the living room to the mosque behind the house.

"What happened to me? Why do I feel this way? Why don't I like it when I see Keenan's closeness to Pinkan?" lirihku in between my prayers after my Dzuhur prayer service.

I tiptoed when someone suddenly died on my shoulder.

"L-M-ma?"

"Mom knows now what makes you so cranky. You must be jealous because Keenan is close to another woman."

I who had wanted to keep it from anyone finally decided to tell it to mom. After all, only he is currently the most comfortable place for me to complain.

"Are you starting to like Keenan?"

"See, it's just that lately I've been getting comfortable being around him. But, …"

"But why?" ask mother.

"I'm not sure you have the same feelings as me. Moreover, lately he has been getting closer to the woman named Pinkan. I just saw them go both to the ticket agent."

Mom puts on a thin smile.

"That means you're jealous of Pinkan."

"Jealous?"

"Yes, the emotions you experience when you're afraid of losing something" she explains.

"If compared to me, Pinkan is prettier, younger, even richer. It's only natural that Keenan would prefer it" I said.

"You are a good woman, believe that God has prepared a good soul mate for you."

"Amen. Thank you, Ma. I feel a little more relieved now" I said.

Mom smiled as she touched the top of my head.

"Yes, we have lunch first. Lyra just got home, too," said the mother. I nodded in agreement. I took off my face and left the mushola.
