My madam, my poison

My madam, my poison
Strange vibe

"Astaghfirullahaldzim! Why am I this?" I cursed myself for being fascinated with Gibran's smile. Indeed, in my present status I am free to open the door of my heart wide for a creature named man. But that's not my priority now. I just want to focus on raising and educating Lyra to become the lucky woman in the world as well.

Time shows at six in the morning.

I say goodbye to the owner of the house but Mbok Marni holds me.

"Breakfast first, Ma'am. I finished cooking," he said.

"No need, Mbok. It'll be a hassle."

"There's absolutely no trouble, ma'am. It's my day-to-day job. Mr. Yudha said I should treat anyone who visits this house well."

"Good morning."

My gaze was fixed on a middle-aged man who had just descended the stairs. When viewed from his face, maybe he was the one named Yudha sir.

"There was a guest, apparently" he said.

I nodded respectfully at the man who was still wearing the pajama suit.

"Sorry, Sir. I've been troubling the whole house," I said.

The man smiled faintly, and walked towards the dining table. Pull a chair, then sit on it.

"Where are you going to take the food, Mbok?" asked Mr. Yudha when he found the housekeeper was putting a piece of sandwich and a glass of milk on the tray.

"To Gibran's chamber, sir."

"Well, why did you have to take her to her room? He can walk himself to the dinner table, can't he?"

"Ehm .. last night Gibran had an accident. Keenan took her to the hospital but Gibran forced her home. Finally at three o'clock in the morning Gibran was brought home," explained mbok Marni.

"Where's Keenan?"

"What's up, Dad?" Keenan who just came down from the second floor also approached the father. He sat down in his usual place.

"Mbok Marni said your brother had an accident last night. Why didn't you tell me?" his protest.

"Sorry, Dad. I was so panicked that I didn't even think of contacting Dad. Besides, Gibran's injuries weren't so bad. Only his car had to enter the workshop because it had an electrical short circuit. We arrived home about three in the morning. We just don't want to interrupt Dad's break" Keenan said.

"I need to talk to the boy."

Mr. Yudha got up from the dining table and walked towards Gibran's room on the second floor.

"Come, Ma'am. Breakfast first."

Mbok Marni pulled out a chair and let me sit down. I just feel so bad being treated like this.

There was no other food in front of me but vegetable sandwiches and fresh milk. Can my stomach accept this food? While all this time my breakfast was fried rice or nasi uduk that I bought in a small stall near my boarding house.

"Why look at it? If you don't like it, let Marni make another menu" said Keenan who sat right in front of me.

"Ehm .. ti-ti-no need."

"Yes, I went upstairs to bring breakfast to Gibran." Mbok Marni lifted the tray and left the dining table. Now it's just the three of us. Me, Keenan and Lyra.

"Lyra's fever's down, isn't it?" ask Keenan.

"Alhamdulillah."

"It's for you." Keenan took a loaf of bread and gave it to Lyra. My little princess accepted it with a cheerful smile.

"Te-li-ma love, A-yah."

"Call uncle Kee-nan."

"Pa-man Nan."

"I'm sorry, Lyra called you dad again" I said.

I started eating the dishes in front of me. Honestly, this is the first time in my life I've ever eaten that food.

The first piece that went into my mouth just made me feel nauseous. I also try to swallow it. However, I can't stand it anymore when the third piece. I immediately sipped the fresh milk in front of me to push the food into my esophagus.

"Why?" asked Keenan as I put down my knife and fork.

"Ehm .. I'm full."

"The new time of eating is full. Lyra just really ate her bread."

Our conversation stopped when Mr. Yudha returned to his seat.

"Your brother is a wretch because he has denied me" he said.

"Accidents happen without us knowing. Maybe Gibran's car hit the iron fence because there was damage to the engine part" Keenan said.

"If he's careful it's impossible to crash."

"Here you go, don't keep blaming him. We should be thankful that God still gives him salvation."

The mood was silent for a moment.

"Oh yeah, how was Father and Mr. Leo meeting last night?" ask Keenan.

"Sir Leo is willing to help handle your mother's case even with a small wage. But it's not a problem for dad. The most important thing is that your mother can get out of prison quickly, and hopefully this incident can give her a deterrent effect" said Mr. Yudha.

"Ehm, I thank you for the help of Mas Keenan. I'm also sorry for the trouble in this house. I say goodbye now" I said as I moved from my seat.

"Let me drop off" said Keenan.

"No, I can take a taxi."

"It's okay. It just so happened that today I got an invitation to open a new company for my business partner. The place is in the direction of where you live."

"T-t-but, …"

"Here you go, instead of waiting for a taxi, you're in Keenan's car." Mr. Yudha chimed.

Not long ago, Marni returned to the dining room.

"I'll say goodbye, Mbok. Thanks for everything. Assalamu'alaikum."

"Vaalaikumsalam. Careful, Mas .. Ma'am."

I walked out of the room while Keenan followed behind me.

I was just about to get into that black sedan. I don't know why I feel like a pair of eyes are watching me from up there. Sure enough when I looked up at the second floor, I found Gibran peering out of his bedroom window and looking at me.

"Assalamu'alaikum."

Even though I didn't hear my voice, I knew Gibran understood what I said just now.

A second later Keenan started to start the engine of his car. Not long after the car we were riding left the luxurious house.

"I can see from the look in Gibran's eyes, it looks like he likes you" Keenan said on the way home.

Whahuh? Why did Keenan suddenly speak that way?
