"Wife? you mean, Miss Olivia?" ask Jojo.
"Of course, no. We're just friends, Jo," Kalingga argued.
"Ah, that's right. He seems to like you a lot, brother," teased Jojo.
In the end, Kalingga tells the story of his life with Olivia's family until he feels indebted and powerless to reject all Olivia's wishes. Kalingga also felt unbearable if rejecting the presence of the woman in his life, although clearly the nature and attitude of the woman was sometimes annoying.
"Papa Olivia is very helpful to me. Our family company went bankrupt, our papa died. Our mother went nowhere. It was Mr. Bram who taught me to rise up and rebuild the company so that it can stand tall until now."
"I promise to repay all the services of Olivia's family. But Mr. Bram just asked me to look after Olivia. I can't resist that" Kalingga said.
"In other words, they're going to match you up to Miss Olivia?" ask Jojo.
"It's not decided yet" replied Kalingga. He shrugged his shoulders.
Inwardly, the man indeed objected to Olivia's presence. Moreover, the woman often interfered in taking care of her younger siblings, especially Kaivan.
The boy even blatantly often showed his dislike of Olivia. If Kalingga doesn't try to prevent it, maybe Kai will also act as obnoxious as he did Jojo.
"I think Miss Olivia is beautiful" said Jojo. The beauty of the woman is indeed no doubt, although her nature is not as beautiful as her face.
"I don't like women who are rude, offensive, and spoiled. My life is quite hard, I need independent women who can be invited to fight together," said Kalingga.
After finding the tie that Kalingga wanted, Jojo exits the man's room and lets Kalingga prepare to go to the office. Saturday is a quiet day, not the case for Kalingga. Because his company is included on a medium scale, he must keep fighting to be able to raise his business.
Saturday was a nice day for Jojo, as he was able to enjoy a relaxing morning while he was off school and all his foster children were not home.
Kalingga will be home at four o'clock on Saturday, Keenan has been home early since the last few days because the filming is over. While Kylan, he came home not necessarily on any day.
At 12 pm, Kai arrived home first. Finished changing his clothes and finishing his lunch, the boy mopped the entire top floor from Kalingga's room to his own. For the upper floor, it is only required to dipel for once a week. Downstairs, you have to do it every day.
"You done yet?" ask Jojo. He enjoys the cassava chips Kai brings after school while watching television, while Kai is just done with his job.
"I've finished everything. Flies will slip when he steps on the floor of this house," said Kai proudly. The work of the boy was indeed very satisfying. Although he is a man, in terms of washing dishes and mopping the floor he is very skilled.
After Kai finished, Jojo gave him a gift in the form of his own dorayaki cake. Today he was very relaxed because Kai helped his work well.
They chat while watching television. As Jojo heads to the kitchen to grab a drink, Kai sees the girl's phone vibrating and displays a call from Merlinda. When Jojo returns, Kai's face is not as friendly as usual.
"Only occasionally," replied Jojo. Suddenly he felt uncomfortable.
"You know, I hate mama so much." Kai exhaled a rough breath. Jojo fell silent, letting the boy reveal what he felt he wanted. He did not ask, nor did he urge Kai to say why.
A few minutes passed, Jojo just kept quiet and looked at the show on television, but his eyes moved quickly observing Kai's agitated demeanor.
"You can say what you want to say. I'm a good listener" said Jojo. He shrank the volume of television.
"When I was 10 years old, the papa company went bankrupt, and then papa got very sick and died. I don't remember it because I was a kid at the time. I don't know where my mom went when we were in trouble" Kai said, beginning a story about his feelings.
"My brothers and I were all taken care of by our maid. At that time, Kalingga brother still graduated from High School. Olivia's family helped her take care of the rest of the ruined company. We're still alive thanks to some assets you left behind."
"Kak Kalingga is the most miserable person among us, he does anything, works during the night, never takes off. While taking care of office work, he was also once an SPG and even an office boy in the company of Mr. Bram's family. He did everything so that his younger siblings could live comfortably and attend school."
"When I was 13, I saw my mom in the car not far from my school gate. He was in a fancy car, as I approached, he was like asking the driver in front of him to immediately take him away. But until now, I've kept this a secret."
"The four of us never knew what reason you left us, but over the past three years, you've started coming back and watching us. Isn't it too late?" ask Kai to Jojo.
"Did Madame Merlinda have a fight before, or have a problem with your papa?" ask Jojo.
"So, I was a kid back then."
Jojo was silent for a long time. As can be seen, Kai's hatred for Merlinda was very real. Even when telling about the person who had given birth to her, Kai's eyes look red. There was a turmoil in his heart that was uncontrollable. Like a hatred and a longing for affection that he cannot manage.
Hearing this short story, Jojo felt worried. Is there a reason Merlinda cannot say to let her children live in protracted hatred?
Or is there a misunderstanding between mother and child?
Jojo's chest felt tight with a sliced heart. He grabbed Kai by the shoulder and tried to strengthen his foster children. There was nothing he could do to help or dispel the feeling of the boy beside him. Jojo is just trying to give you peace, and comfort.
"You four great brothers. I am proud to know you in my life" said Jojo. He shook Kai's body.
"Kak Kalingga was the one who made his younger siblings independent and strong human beings. I learned a lot from him" Kai said. The boy could already smile. He must have felt relieved because he could express the uneasiness in his heart in front of Jojo.
"Thank you for taking care of me."
