CHAPTER 48 ~ Me, What Is ~

Nico stops his sports sedan on a special alley road to get to Reana's boarding house. The big alleyway that can be passed by the car is a dead end that ends right in front of the Reana boarding house.

After paying the hospital bills, Nico drives Reana home to her boarding house. The girl thanked him for all the help of his treatment costs, Nico smiled and hugged the girl.

"Don't overdo it, you know ? whatever I'll give you" said Nico as he stroked the girl's hair gently.

Reana nodded, Nico opened the car door for Reana and drove her all the way to the boarding gate. The day felt so bright, Reana felt her life had returned to how it was. Like before the agreement with Mr. Malvin.

Nico wants the girl to stay at his apartment, but Reana refuses. Nico is disappointed but ends up letting Reana stay alone in the hostel on the condition that Reana should not be too much activity and should not work too hard.

Reana agrees, the girl misses her boarding room so much, that Reana really wants to go back there. Reana's belongings left behind at Mr. Malvin's house have also been delivered by Mr. Malvin's bodyguard.

Reana opens the fence and enters after seeing Nico's car disappear behind a corner. Reana is back to living her days as usual, catching up with her college and Nico is always reminded not to be too mobile.

Reana obeys Nico's orders, she doesn't want to argue with him anymore because her own mother also tells her to always listen to Nico's advice.

Although allowed to go home and make a recovery at home, Reana still has to check himself regularly to the doctor. Nico is always reminding her and taking her to the hospital.

The man is still like before, still insistent on driving Reana wherever the girl wants to go, even now more tight watching.

After an examination to the doctor and declared cured. Reana intends to visit Mr. Malvin at the Penitentiary. The man was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of attempted murder.

Reana learned of Mr. Malvin's condition from the news in the mass media. The girl felt sad and regretful hearing the fate of Lord Malvin. A little Reana also became the cause of the events that made Mr. Malvin's life changed as it is today.

Reana was looking for the right time to visit. The girl didn't want Nico to know her intention to see Mr. Malvin. Because Reana felt that Nico would not agree that Reana met the man who almost married her.

In recent days Nico is busy undergoing a series of practice exams, lab exams, and program tests, a very busy schedule must be passed in preparation for graduation. Nico is too busy to keep an eye on Reana.

This opportunity was used by Reana to visit Mr. Malvin. The girl left without telling Nico, leaving alone to enter the gate of the Penitentiary.

"Why meet me ?" mister Malvin asked, his eyes unwilling to look at Reana.

Reana felt overwhelmed by the condition of Mr. Malvin, a man who was used to living in a very spacious luxury house and always served by many servants.

Now it must live as rough as any other prisoner.

Caged in a narrow room sharing with a stranger. Even to talk to her, Reana had to sit in a room with a glass.

"I want to know the state of mister, is mister okay?" reana really wanted to know Mr. Malvin's situation.

"You think ?" mr. Malvin asked back.

Getting such a cynical speech, Reana shed tears. But Reana tries to calm down, Reana feels she deserves a snub from the man.

Mr. Malvin has always been kind to her, doting on her, pampering her, adoring her but what a reply to Mr. Malvin, a rebellion, a rejection, a humiliation that Reana displayed in front of many people, in front of the mass media covering it.

His wife ran away with another man. The future wife who adored in front of the media, chose another man and left him. All of that was a very cruel humiliation that Reana did in public.

The girl cried sobbing, Reana really felt regretful having to end up like this.

"Sorry sir, I'm here to apologize" Reana said, wiping her tears.

Mr. Malvin looked at the girl who had filled his heart. Mr. Malvin's feelings were mixed up, angry at his insulting actions in front of all the important people present at the party, sad because of the loss of the girl who had already made him fall in love and relieved because the girl appeared before him in a safe and healthy state.

"I'm so sorry that it had to end like this, I broke a promise. I really can't keep my promise, sir, forgive me" Reana said, covering her face with both hands.

The girl sobbed, Mr. Malvin looked at the girl in front of him. To be honest the man did not like to see this girl he loved crying.

For some reason, even though Reana had been cruel to him but master Malvin still could not hate him.

"That's all ? you came here just to apologize ? you're not begging to cancel our agreement ? like the kid did ?" ask mr. Malvin.

"What ? what do you mean, sir ? " reana said staring in surprise at Mr. Malvin's question, his face still drenched in tears.

"A few days after the incident, the boy came and begged me to release you from the marriage covenant" Malvin said.

Reana is shocked, the girl thinks the person Mr. Malvin is referring to is Nico. Reana does not know when Nico came to the field and met Mr. Malvin. The man kept it a secret from Reana.

"Did you grant her request ?" ask the girl curious.

It was obvious that Reana wanted to ask the same thing.

"Of course not, why do I have to obey his wishes ?" said Mr. Malvin with a laugh.

Reana was down, the girl's tears were dripping. There is no hope of living happily ever after. Mr. Malvin is still tying him to the marriage covenant. The girl was silent no longer sobbing but her tears were still flowing.

Mr. Malvin looked at the girl with a sad look, the man lost hope of getting the girl's heart no matter what.

"I've sacrificed a lot, material and self-esteem, but what do I get ?" ask mr. Malvin.

The question got no answer, the man nodded.

"To be able to kiss you, it's a very expensive price to be able to kiss a Reana"

At a glance at their wedding, Mr. Malvin came to Reana in the bridal dressing room. The man kissed his bride-to-be before the wedding began.

Reana's eyes, her tears flowing, her chest tight, Mr. Malvin's words made the girl feel an insinuation. Right, the price is too expensive to be able to kiss a poor girl like her.

And it's only natural that Mr. Malvin can't forgive him.

"I shouldn't have come to you at that time, I should have believed that myth" said Mr. Malvin regretfully.

The man stood up, wanting to return to the holding cell. Mr. Malvin thinks there's nothing more to talk about with Reana. Reana stood up, her eyes following in the footsteps of master Malvin.

The girl sobbed, Mr. Malvin stopped her steps. Staring at the girl who covered her mouth with both hands, but the crying voice could not be muted.

The girl's body shook withstanding an unbearable cry. Mr. Malvin looked at the girl, his eyes glazed over.

"I've cancelled it" said the man decided to tell Reana.

Reana was stunned, looking at master Malvin.

"I promised myself that if you survived, I would cancel our marriage. I kept my promise, I have cancelled it" said Mr. Malvin as he stared at Reana.

Reana's cry became more and more, the answer she wanted from master Malvin actually made her heart feel sliced. The sadness he felt was for Mr. Malvin, who again sacrificed for him.

Just a thank you, it was not enough to avenge Mr. Malvin, the girl wanted to chase but was restrained by the glass barrier.

Reana's fingers were soaked by tears stuck to the glass that carried on Mr. Malvin's face. The man bowed, then knocked on the door, asking the warden to take him out of the room.

Reana's tears of regret were enough for her, the man walked out of the room with teary eyes. The vegetables heard Reana's scream.

"Thank you sir, thank you, forgive me, forgive me" cried Reana sobbing.

"I will miss you very much" whispered Mr. Malvin as he walked with the prison guard.

Mr. Malvin's teary eyes were no longer able to stem his growing tears, slowly flowing down the cheeks of the handsome man.

Reana returned to the boarding house with an erratic feeling, the girl resting to calm her mind. The meeting with Mr. Malvin drained his energy and feelings.

Reana goes through the days with a calm and sad heart, the girl hopes that slowly time can relieve and remove the trauma from the shadow of past events.

Nico's attention and affection help the girl to get through it. Today after returning from campus Nico invited Reana to go somewhere, the man asked Reana to bring supplies to stay overnight.

Initially Reana was not willing, but after being convinced that she had received permission from Ridha's mother, Reana finally obeyed.

Brother Nico asked Mom for permission, what does she want to do ? inner Reana.

Reana hesitates but ends up following Nico's wishes, going with her somewhere. Taking the trip and enjoying it, the girl wondered where Nico was going to take her.

Reana was amazed when they arrived at a villa that was not too big but very beautiful. Villa with sea view, and a spacious backyard with a stretch of grass and flowers arranged beautiful.

Reana ran barefoot to the shore laughing cheerfully. Feeling the sensation of playing sea water, until the girl forgets Nico who looks worried at her

Nico looked at the girl from the glass kitchen of the villa, after putting down their luggage. Then step into the Villa's backyard, sitting on a wooden swing that has been available there.

Looking at Reana who plays cheerfully on the beach. Moving forward defied the waves then retreating as the waves hit him.

The girl screams Nico playing together, the girl jumps up and down to call Nico. The man is upset Reana forgot his advice not to move too much, soon Nico catches up with Reana.

"This girl. I said don't move much, don't jump, don't run instead.." said Nico alone while running after Reana and stopped the girl who ran to and fro.

"I'm cured, the doctor says I'm healed" she shouted at Nico's irritated expression.

Nico did not care, grabbed the girl's body and hugged her from behind.

"Honey, your wounds do look healed but that doesn't mean you can move as you like, let all the wounds heal completely, I don't want any problems behind the day, please don't worry me" whispered Nico, putting his chin on Reana's boat.

The girl finally complied, nodding her head. Nico turned the girl's body in front of him. Hugging the girl tightly, Nico was grateful the girl was willing to obey her words.

Nico invites Reana back to the villa, by the afternoon the man prepares a picnic mat complete with food in the backyard of the Villa, Reana is moved by what the man did for her.

Reana looked at the sun that was about to sink, her smile that had been expanding instantly disappeared. Nico saw the change in the girl's face, Reana's eyes glazed over.

"The sun is about to sink soon, you can calculate how long it will take to vanish below the horizon line" Nico said, taking the girl to sit on the mat she had prepared.

Reana is stunned, the girl just realized, Nico wants to realize the promise of papa Reana to prove for himself how long the sun will sink.

Nico sat down while hugging the girl, wiping away her flowing tears. Reana looked at the man, smiled and leaned on him.

The blue sky is always beautiful to look at, but at dusk, the radiance sparkles golden orange that makes the eyes do not want to switch to look at him.

Enjoying a very beautiful natural phenomenon, the color of the sun in the sky is an extraordinary sight. The girl smiled with eyes unwilling to switch from the beautiful scenery before her.

The sun had touched the horizon line, Nico saw the clock in his hand began to count the time, Reana also saw the clock Nico with a smile. They continued to observe until the sun completely disappeared below the horizon line.

"Five minutes, after proving by observing together, we hereby declare, the time it takes for the sun to sink in this country is five minutes" Nico said, embracing the girl.

Reana laughed when Nico announced his statement. Then the girl fell silent, staring straight at him with a serious look.

"Sister has helped papa to prove it. Thank you for everything you did to make papa's promise. Thank you sister Nico" said Reana teary still leaning on the man's shoulder.

"I love you" said Nico suddenly.

Reana was shocked and then woke up from her backrest staring at the man. Nico turned to look at Reana

"I'm sorry I can't be like your papa, prove it then state it. I'm not that patient, I always want to state it. I promise I'll try to provide proof of it for the rest of my life" Nico looked into the girl's eyes.

"I'm not wrong, Brother Nico has proved it. I've proven it a lot and today my brother has stated it, Brother Nico is like papa" said Reana.

Nico smiled, the man was waiting for a reply from Reana but the girl showed no sign of giving an answer. Nico bowed sadly asking.

"Reana, you didn't answer my statement ?" he said in a soft voice.

"I can't" Reana said briefly.

Nico looked back at Reana.

"I can't be like Brother Nico, prove it and then state it" Reana said as she stared at the bias of sunlight that began to disappear.

"Less evidence of what ? you were even willing to sacrifice your life to save me" Nico recalled.

"I think in such a situation, against others I will do the same thing" said Reana Lirih.

Nico exhaled heavily, disappointed by Reana's reply.

"Then what about the marriage, you are willing to accept the approval of marriage, willing to sacrifice your happiness and future to save my life" said Nico spirit reminded Reana.

"So I forget what Mr. Malvin is like, he's kind, rich and very handsome, which girl he doesn't want to marry, it could be that I do want to marry him, that proves absolutely nothing" the girl said as she muttered.

Nico turned his face away, saying we grumbled indistinctly, Reana laughed stifledly at the man's behavior. Reana stands on her knees and grabs Nico's face to face her.

Nico faced towards the girl with a confused expression, Reana's position was higher than hers. Reana cupped Nico's face and landed a kiss on the man's lips.

Nico was wide-eyed, Reana took the initiative to kiss him first. Nico felt a different feeling. His chest was pounding, for the first time the man felt such a thing.

Nico is speechless, stunned, gobsmacked, fascinated, Reana takes control by kissing to show her feelings.

"What can this prove ?" reana asked smilingly still cupping Nico's face.

The man nodded quickly, Reana laughed.

Then he kissed the man's forehead, kissed the top of his hair, and hugged him, drowning the man in his arms. Everything Nico's ever done to him, he's done at one time.

"I love you sister Nico" said Reana

Still hugging Nico in his arms, enjoying the breeze sweeping through his hair. Nico smiles in Reana's arms, the man does not want to stay still, Nico stands up and invites Reana to stand in front of him.

Cupped the girl's face, then kissed Reana back, gently bit her lips, played her tongue, tasted the girl's sweet strawberry.

Reana closes her eyes, embraces the man's back, their heart thumping, Nico tightens her arms, her breath hunts, they have not done it for a long time, because problems after problems that come in the way, make them want to let go of their long-buried desires.

Nico stretched out his embrace, looking at the friendly girl before him. Then hugged the girl tightly.

"Thank you brother Nico, thank you for loving me, accepting me, for who I am"
