We, Without Me

We, Without Me
Momentary Comfort

“Haus.” Yuki said softly after the death of Mama Agni and Papa Leigh from the room he occupied.

“Sebentar.” Said Keven while rubbing the top of Yuk's head. Passed over quickly with wide strides intending to fetch drinking water in the kitchen for Yuki. He forgot to provide drinking water in the room if at any time Yuki was aware.

“Do not stress your wife, Mas.” Papa Leigh's chirps behind Keven's busy back grabbed a pot of water and a clean glass into both hands.

“Iya, Pa. Keven go up first. Yuki have a drink.” Keven replied with a small nod affirming Papa Leigh's words. He was in a hurry to take every step of the stairs to quickly get to his room.

Watching his son's back drifting away, Papa Leigh breathed a rough breath. Concerned about the unusual condition of her child's household, especially at the situation her daughter-in-law had to face.

From Mama Agni's short story, Papa Leigh understands how it hurts to be Yuki who always pursues Keven's love, getting married not because of her wishes, but because of her, even the reasons Keven mentioned on the basis of loving each other and having been in an out-of-bounds relationship are all lies. Although it ended in marriage, Papa Leigh really did not understand why the only child was willing to spread lies.

Then where did Mama Agni know all those facts? The only answer is Alia. Intending to separate Keven with Yuki instead ends Mama Agni who falls in love with Yuki's sincerity. What's more, the current condition of Mama Agni who is completely antipathy with Alia makes Mama Agni think smarter to filter all the words of Alia.

Now what Papa Leigh feels is regret as an old man who is too rash. Summing things up just from the vindication side of Keven. In addition, it is also because of the demands of the Yuki family who do not accept the behavior of their two children. After all, it is very natural that the female family will be more insistent and stubborn in such situations.

But there is still something Papa Leigh is grateful for. At least when Yuki is slumped at the moment, this house will be one of the options for Yuki to go home. Now they are family. Even Yuki's existence is like a blessing that gives a new color in his house.

The daughter of an elderly couple wants to be present from a daughter-in-law who is like a betel in two parts with Mama Agni. To get Keven alone they have to be patient through years of struggle. Papa Leigh's infertile condition is the toughest ordeal when they want a descendant.

While Keven who is currently standing in the doorway that is slightly open is already fixated is not able to continue his steps anymore. The hand that was about to push the door of her room was hanging froze at the sound of crying that definitely belonged to Yuki.

Several times Keven also heard the strong pull and exhale of Yuki's long breath. He knew clearly Yuki was trying to quell his cries, but all in vain. After the breath was successfully blown, then Yuki would return a mouthful.

Stepping in and putting the glass and water pitcher on the nightstand next to the bed, Keven wiped the tears that drenched Yuki's cheeks with his thumb.

“Do not hold. Release.” Keven said softly which made Yuki aghast. During his time near Keven, only this time Yuki could feel the true tenderness of a Keven. The words, attention and treatment made Yuki feel valuable. But Yuki's common sense always manages to scream so that she doesn't fall asleep.

“Udah?” Keven asked as he rubbed and rubbed Yuki's long hair that was attached to wet cheeks and puffy eyes due to crying that did not end.

Once again Keven tried to ease Yuki's cries through warm hugs and gentle strokes on her back. His guilt is growing.

“I have to where now?” Yuki said softly, still resting his head comfortably on Keven's chest. Between sad and happy, Yuki feels comfortable finally one of her wish lists materializes. He is not dreaming, nor hallucinating, the warm embrace of his tiny body is a reality that Yuki probably will not be able to repeat.

“Since when? I'm just a stranger in this house.” Chuckling sliced Yuki said that sentence. Inevitably Yuki realized, if putting forward the ego by throwing away all the facilities that Papa Gibran and Mama Maria still give, then he must also be ready to have nothing if one day Keven also threw it away.

Thinking about Dimas and Ara who would want to accommodate had crossed, but it felt Yuki was too reluctant to have to bestow his difficulties on his two friends. even without being asked, it was certain that both Dimas and Ara would force Yuki to be with them.

“You're my wife.” Tukas Keven. The intonation of her voice made Yuki's heart throb pain. Either Yuki who is thinking too badly or her wrong earlobe catches the vibrations that deliver sound waves knocking on the eardrum, but what Yuki believed from the same time as the stopping of the rubbing on his back was the insincere Keven.

“Since when am I your wife?” Tanya Yuki was no less smirked with lips flattering a slick smile. Since when she was considered a wife, the sentence seemed to soar in the dream along with a series of glimpses of the events of her solitude in the household they had lived.

The clothes that Yuki always neatly arranged on the bed for Keven could definitely laugh because he knew he was secretly begging for attention. Breakfast is always prepared even though the gastronomy is minimal. Scratched by a knife, splashed with oil and hot water Yuki ignored, he kept asking Mama Agni to teach him how to cook all his favorite foods Keven. Yuki's various concerns are lavished despite her pretentious attitude to stupidity, but still only end with their increasingly tenuous relationship.

“Sorry, I was too shocked by my parents until I didn't realize I was hitching a ride here. As much as possible after this I will not trouble you again.” Yuki said steadily, letting go of Keven's embrace and distancing herself. Yuki had already felt enough for the momentary comfort he had obtained. He was afraid he would get greedy and end up disappointed.

“This is not my home. This is my parents' house. But you are now also a family member in this house.” Keven tried to explain to Yuki.

Reviewing the thin smile with narrowed eyes that seemed to close tightly due to being too swollen, Yuki shook her head weakly. It is too much to consider himself part of the family. His existence in the house was no more just because Keven tied up in a marriage.

The two hung on the roof and even the same room above the status of a married couple, in fact, it does not mean that the love that Yuki once wanted to bury deeply was avenged. Yuki dared to swear that Keven's current concern was just a form of pity.

Slapping herself with the memory of Mama Agni's words about Alia that she accidentally listened to, Yuki only hoped to be able to hitch a ride for a while in the house that Keven said accepted her presence as a new family.
