Chapter 9. Not Family

"I, Alden Black accept Floretta Blue as my wife forever" Alden said.

"What's? Floretta Blue?" The guests looked at each other. "Isn't her name Floretta Green? How could Alden have misnamed his wife? Because there's only one Blue family here, and that was a dozen years ago."

The atmosphere in the wedding ceremony room was suddenly crowded. The guests invited by Jayden and Olive whispered to each other, and looked at the bridal family cynically.

"Suckers! What did Floretta and the rich man do? Intentionally embarrassing the Green family here?" grouse Jayden.

Meanwhile, Floretta reflexes let go of Alden's hand. "Why does he know my real name? Who the hell is he?" thought Flo was fretting.

"St! Flo, relax. It's the only way you can escape their restraints forever. I promise I'll tell you everything" whispered Alden.

"But a-I ..."

"If we are married using the name Green, then our marriage is not legal, even though it is recorded in the civil record. And you will continue under the shadow of your family" whispered Alden reassuring the future wife.

Floretta who was in a position not to protest was finally just silent and relented. His body was trembling in fear.

"Who exactly is this man I married?" Flo's heart kept wondering, while running a series of wedding ceremonies.

Her beautiful eyes stared at the faces of her parents from a distance. They look very angry. Olive and Jayden were seen wanting to protest, but were blocked by some of Alden's men.

The sacred and solemn wedding ceremony ended smoothly, with snowfall for the first time that year.

"Unbelievably, their marriage was sanctioned by the universe. They will definitely be a happy couple forever" whispered the guests.

A myth told in descending order, that a marriage performed during the first snowfall of the year, will be the most lasting and happy marriage ever. Hmm, but is the myth true?

"Alden, where is my daughter," asked Jayden in a high tone.

"Oh, Floretta is in the bridal room to change clothes" Alden replied casually. She even smiled sweetly as usual, without feeling the slightest guilt.

"Take me to him. I want to talk to him, "pinta Jayden.

"No, could. Even though she's your daughter, it's still rude to see her change her clothes," Alden firmly refused.

"I want to talk to him for a second, asshole!" jayden.

"If so, just tell me. Because now I am her husband" Alden replied.

"Then I say it here. Your marriage is invalid because you misnamed my daughter" Jayden said.

"That's right, really. His surname is Blue, not Green. So our marriage is legal" Alden replied firmly.

Jayden growled. "So Flo told you everything? But still your marriage is not legal, because the name you mentioned earlier does not match the official documents issued later," said Jayden still did not want to give up.

"I have Flo's real birth certificate, so all the names on the wedding documents are under Floretta Blue. Getting here already understands, right? You'd better keep quiet, than I unravel your other rot," Alden said with a faint smile.

"How about a wedding present for us?" ask Jayden.

"Well, you shameless bastard! You guys said my marriage to Flo wasn't legal. But the wedding presents are still you guys charged."

Alden insinuated the family of his wife openly.

"Of course you can't. Because Floretta is not part of your family. Or rather your distant nephew" Alden continued haughtily.

"But we've been babysitting Flo since we were kids. We purposely changed the girl's last name so she could have a whole family again" Jayden said.

"In our tradition and in our law, there is no obligation for the groom to give the wedding gift to the family who cares for him, if he does not have a biological family. Instead, all those wedding gifts will go to the bride."

Alden explained why he did not want to give wedding gifts to the wife's family, as has been the tradition.

"Not fair? What kind of justice have you understood all along? Is blackmailing a little girl's sweat fair her name?" reply Alden.

"You misunderstood me, Alden. We didn't take his salary, but just helped him manage the money, because he was a minor at the time" Olive argued.

"Isn't that even stranger? He is still a minor, but you even told him to work instead of school" Alden replied tightly.

"If you are curious about the prize, I give it a large mansion in the foothills that has a panoramic view of the lake. Then a bakery, a bookstore in the next town, and a few expensive jewelry sets as an investment" Alden said.

"Uh... What about our debt to Mr Cyano if you don't give us a wedding present?"

"Why does Floretta have to be responsible for the same debt that your money used to spend?" sahut Alden while sneering.

Jayden and Olive could only gulp, hearing a loud reply from Alden.

"I've given you expensive dresses, shoes, bags and jewelry to wear at this party. You can sell it again if you need money. So you stop bothering my wife. Let her live happily with me" Alden said.

Floretta who heard all Alden's talk with Jayden and Olive could only cry bitterly. He was saddened to see the attitude of his uncles and aunts that he already considered to be his own family. But in another corner of her heart, Flo also felt moved, as Alden defended and protected her.

After the wedding party was over, Floretta officially joined Alden to return to his residence. Along the way Flo fell asleep. The series of wedding ceremonies were very long, making his body exhausted.

"Flo, honey. Get up, we're almost there" whispered Alden, as he kissed his wife's forehead.

Flo opened her eyes slowly. But a moment later his forehead creased. Flo silently stared at the magnificent building before him.

The tall buildings that soared into the sky had very beautiful and amazing architecture. The design is unique and classic, making Flo feel back to medieval times. The park is beautiful and spacious, overgrown with a variety of plants that are currently covered by snow.

Flo's whole life had never seen someone this big. She felt so small, compared to the house owned by Alden Black who is now officially her husband.

"Where is this?" asked Flo in confusion.

"This is our palace. Our home starts today" Alden replied.

"Huh? I must still be dreaming. Is there a place like this in my country? It's even more luxurious than the mayor's office and home service," Flo thought confusedly.

"You're not dreaming, baby. This is indeed our place of residence forever" Alden stressed.

"God! That right? What is this man, until he has this palace?" thought Flo in the heart.

But all of Flo's questions only grew, as they reached the vast courtyard of the palace. Some people were dressed officially, neatly lined up as if welcoming their arrival. The car they were riding then stopped in front of the lobby, then someone opened the door.

"Welcome, Your Majesty the King," said all of them, bowing their bodies.

"His Majesty the King? What's this show?" Floreta's getting confused. "Alden, you're a King? Isn't our country led by the president?" whispered Floretta who was walking by her husband's side.

"Bless your face and smile, everyone is looking at the two of us" Alden replied without looking at his wife.

The answer that came out of Alden's lips upset Floretta himself. Even until marriage, the husband still kept many secrets from him.

Alden continued to walk into the magnificent building, holding his wife's hand. Floretta had no time to hesitate. The woman who officially bears the statue of Her Royal Highness Princess Floretta also harmonizes her footsteps with her husband, while smiling sweetly.

"Hey, I don't understand. Why did His Majesty choose the wife of the human race, which is only our food?"

"Human people? Food?" Flo who heard those words immediately shuddered in horror. "Don't ... "

"Welcome, Your Majesty the King and Her Royal Highness Princess Floretta Blue, the future queen of this vampire kingdom," said one of the men in official black clothes.

"Va-vampire?"

The beautiful dream offered by Alden on Flo was shattered instantly. All that could be seen before Flo right now was just a nightmare.
