Chapter 67. Entrapment

"Floretta! What's going on?" Alden exclaimed in panic, seeing the woman next to him collapsing instantly.

The vampire king immediately left his unfinished birthday celebration, and escorted Floretta who was brought by the medical team. The celebration was taken over by Raven Black.

The bodyguards immediately secured the evidence, in the form of Floretta's used glass. They took him to the lab to be examined.

"What are you giving him, anyway? So where's the security? Why not recheck it before it's given to Princess Floretta?" ask Alden riled.

The waiter and other officers who were in charge of preparing drinks for the princess were sitting limp. They do not know why this could happen and can escape their scrutiny.

"Sorry, Your Honor. It's our fault. According to His Majesty's order, we prepared dragon fruit juice with fresh goat milk for Her Highness Princess Floretta," said the senior servant who was on duty in the kitchen.

"Are you sure, don't mix other ingredients into it? Or someone who told you to?" search Alden.

"We swear, Your Majesty. We don't do such a thing" the servants replied, bowing in lethargy.

"Track all the CCTV, do not miss a single second. I'll decide for myself, whether you're guilty or not" Alden decisively ordered.

"Haha ... Of all the news I heard from the palace, this is the best news. Now the deformed king must be crying out of hope, to heal the woman," Russell said, unable to stop his laughter.

"You're a real genius, Erlina. I didn't expect to do that neatly" Daisy continued.

After the king's birthday party ends in chaos, the vampires continue their retreat at Amethyst Castle, the Amethyst family's residence. Various meat-based foods are also held at the luxury dining table.

The upper class nobles also rejoice in enjoying luxury dishes, while laughing at the current state of Floretta.

"I should be happy, but why do I feel angry?" erlina said in her heart, to herself.

Alden's shadow, which was carrying Floretta alone, was still clearly recorded in his head. Alden was a major figure in the celebration of the day. All of Alden's attitude has shown how sincere the man feels about Floretta.

"Hey, Erlina? What are you thinking, anyway?" Daisy shook the woman's body, to wake her from the daydream.

"I just told the waiter to exchange the drinks they had prepared for the man's beloved daughter" Erlina said with her teeth cracking in anger.

"Obviously he will not survive, because so far no human has survived the deadly poison at that time" Erlina continued.

"Ah, what about the waiter? What if he's on CCTV, or leaked everything?" ask Daisy worried.

"Don't worry about that. The servant would not be able to open his voice, because he had even forgotten about the incident. If someone tries to unseal her memory, then the servant will go crazy," Erlina replied with a cynical smile.

"Well, you're using your magic? Finally, the strongest magic in the kingdom is used again" Russell said.

"Hahaha, even my magic level is still below it" said Novac, Erlina Amethyst's brother.

"It's not in vain that you've spent years studying abroad. Your abilities are growing rapidly" said Edmund.

"But all of that was for nothing, because Alden's heart was just staring at Floretta," Erlina's inner self was still irritated. "Now even the whole kingdom knows that the king loves the man very much" he thought.

"Now, we're just waiting for that human to die slowly. After being tormented by the poison in his body," Novac laughed with satisfaction.

"It's been three days that Floretta didn't wake up. There are no signs of his condition improving. What am I supposed to do?"

Alden was moping on the edge of the bed, looking at his helplessly lying wife.

"Why was he unconscious just because of the dragon fruit juice and the fresh goat milk? Does he have the same allergy as one of the ingredients in that juice?"

Alden still can not solve the mystery of the fateful incident that befell Floretta. He is also now increasingly hated by the people, because it is more concerned with humans than royal sacred events.

"Where is he?" ask Raven who visited Floretta's room.

"There's still no change" Alden told his brother. "Eventually it became like this, yes. I made him hurt and lay in bed like this" the king continued, in a stinging voice.

"It's his own fault" said Raven.

"What's? Why is this his fault? He's a victim" Alden protested.

"I reminded him not to trust anyone in this kingdom. But he drank the fruit juice without any suspicion" Raven said.

Alden raised his face, then looked at the brother's face. "So that's what you taught him?" ask Alden.

Raven nodded. "That's the main thing he should remember, if he wants to stay in this kingdom. All this time you've been spoiling him too much, Al," Raven said.

"But it's just plain fruit juice. It's natural that he doesn't feel suspicious" Alden said.

A second later, however, he gasped.

"yes too. I'm too naive, Al. I forgot, if there were some kind of poison that wasn't hard to detect" Alden murmured as if talking to himself. "Will you help me with something?" ask Alden later.

"I am not on the king's side. I am an evil prince who wants to take your throne. So only so far can I help you, nothing more" Raven said.

"But sister loves Floretta, right? Do you want to see him die this way?" persuade Alden.

"Fuckin' shit! How does he know that I love, ah I mean to love this lowly man?" Raven's heart almost jumped out, having been caught off guard by her own sister.

"I've known my sister since I was a kid. From the eyes of my brother to Floretta I already know that you love this girl" Alden said, as if understanding the thoughts of Prince Raven at this time.

"Don't be so smart, you. How could I like a weak nation like them." Raven denied the sister's words. "I behave like this, because I want to take the kingdom fairly, not civil war," he added.

"Don't you think I'd believe that? What's it going to take for you to come here and wake me up about the poison?" reply Alden again.

"U-already, don't talk about it again. What do you want to ask for help? As long as it doesn't ask me to stop wanting to be king, I'll try to fulfill it" Raven said.
