Floretta had just finished feeding the little birds by the window, when Lily came and brought him breakfast. Both of his eyes were fixed on a large envelope located on a small table near the door. He just saw that thing right there.
"Lily, what is this?" Floretta pointed towards the envelope.
"Oh, yes. Sorry, Your Grace. I almost forgot. This is a letter from the chairman of the palace council, Your Majesty. A bodyguard brought her here" Lily said.
"From the palace council. What's it say?" Floretta hesitated to open it.
"So they just said, if this is a letter that Your Majesty should read," Lily said as she arranged the breakfast menu on the table.
"What's that about, huh?" Floretta immediately opened the envelope with a thumping chest. "Hopefully this is not a trap" he added.
Given the highly manipulative demeanor of the councilors, anything they could do was to expel Floretta from this palace.
"Wedding annulment letter? So they're still waiting for me to fill out this letter?" thought Floretta was fretting. "Are they really not afraid of the king anymore?"
Florett put the paper back in the envelope. She asks Lily to put it in the closet.
"Leon, what other than nobles can't be queens here?" ask Floretta suddenly. The woman had not even touched the breakfast the waiter had served.
"Sure I can, Your Majesty. The Black family's great-grandfather once married a girl from the common people, and became queen here. But the process is long and not easy" Leon said.
"But that happened three hundred years ago. I don't know if the rules have changed or are still the same as before" Leon said.
"Hmm, is that it? Then what are the conditions? Did she also go through as many trials as the other noble princesses?" ask Floretta.
"Has His Majesty already decided to settle down here?" Leon asked the princess.
"Is it strange that I decided to accompany my husband? Because I'm a human?" reply Floretta again.
"No, Your Grace. I'm happy, because His Majesty has looked more cheerful since marriage" Leon replied with a smile. "Now I feel like I'm working for a vampire, compared to what used to look like a robot" added the bodyguard.
"really?" Floretta had a little doubt on Leon's words. With this much treasure, it would be very easy for the king to find friends.
"Yes, Your Majesty. I don't know in full, what are the requirements to be queen. But it must have a letter of recommendation from one of the highest nobles here, then take the official examination," Leon said.
Leon explores the kingdom's online library, in search of a book on the exam of the country's future queen.
"Ah, so that means I should get a letter of recommendation from the five noble families here?" reply Floretta.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
"Haaah, that's where it might be. It was impossible for them to give me a letter of recommendation. They will all want me expelled from this kingdom" Floretta murmured.
"What would happen if I stayed? Will there be a power struggle? Or worse, there's bloodshed?"
Floretta was suddenly horrified, thinking about it all. "Do I have to sign the marriage annulment letter? To this day Alden still keeps a lot of secrets from me, right?" floretta muttered worriedly.
"Duh, it seems like the book about the queen candidate exam is not in the online library. It seems like His Majesty should go to the palace library to get more complete information."
"palace library? Is that the first place I went to, when I got to this palace?" floretta.
"Yes, Your Majesty. But it is better that His Majesty come there in the afternoon. To be able to freely search for the book, without being disturbed by other vampires," Leon said again.
"Hmm, okay. Will you two be able to accompany me there this afternoon?" ask Floretta.
"Ready, Your Majesty," Leon and Lily replied simultaneously.
...🦇🦇🦇...
"Well, this book is high. Are there chairs and stairs here?"
Floretta turned to the right and to the left, to seek help. But it seems Lily hasn't come back, since being told to take a warm coat for her. Then, where did Leon disappear to, huh?"
Hup! Hup! Floretta tried to jump around and pick up the old book located on the top shelf. But still, even though he had already exerted all his strength, the book was still too high to reach.
"You want to take this book?" A man made a heavy voice, suddenly picked up the book, and gave it to Floretta.
"Thank you, Your Majesty." Floretta lowered her head, to greet the sister-in-law.
"Well, are you here? What are these books for? You still want to be queen here?" ask Raven with a ketus. She blatantly covered her nose with a mask, to avoid the stinking scent of Floretta's blood.
"I haven't decided yet, Your Majesty. But..."
"Do not learn. I'm sure no one will give you a letter of recommendation, including me." Raven interrupted Floretta's unfinished speech.
The man sat down on a chair near the bookshelf, and raised his head to look at Floretta's face clearly. The woman felt her knees feel weak, due to the sharp gaze from the man. It was as if he was unable to support his body anymore.
"Have you forgotten what I said yesterday? The reason you want to accompany Alden alone, is still not enough to be queen. Especially with your status that is only a human from the low class. Do you want to destroy our kingdom, with that low knowledge?"
It seemed like the prince's words really could not be filtered. Every word that Raven spewed, instantly pierced right in the heart of the princess.
"Didn't your great-grandmother come from the common people?" floretta tried to defend herself.
"Indeed right. But he came from a vampire nation, and graduated from a top university in the kingdom" Alden replied. "When you?" The handsome man looked at Floretta with a petty look.
"I-i ..."
"Easy! Have you forgotten? Did I almost kill you? The cockroach that bothered me would kill me to smash it to pieces. Let alone a human who is about to take over my kingdom."
Raven showed her sharp and long fangs. Her two beautiful eyeballs, turned bright red. His fingers pulled out a long, dreadful nail.
"Originally you know, I can kill you anytime. Especially when your husband isn't here."
The man gripped Floretta's neck with his fingernails, so the woman had trouble breathing and asked for help.
