MINERVO 42: The Right Choice

Brak!

Koko and Naomi were shocked when they heard a loud noise from the door of the restaurant, it seemed like a stranger was rushing through the door. As a result, Koko and Naomi turned to look, it turns out that their guess is true, there is a man who entered the restaurant with a fierce anger, like wanting to vent his anger here. However, Koko turns up when she realizes that the man is Paul, what is with the mentor? It seemed that Paul was feeling very bad, evident from his sculpted facial expression, as if the man was about to bite anyone who approached him.

"What's up... Paul?" koko asked in a soft voice, worried about Paul's condition.

"I thought you came here!" said Paul in a high tone, he also went to the table inhabited by Koko and Naomi. Upon reaching the table, Paul looked at Koko's face with a sharp look. "Why didn't you pick a better place than this shabby restaurant!? Didn't I tell you to find a safe place!?"

Hearing him, Koko was silent for a moment, contemplating, until finally she replied with a troubled heart. "Because I think this place is quite safe," Koko lowered her head. "But if my choice is wrong and makes you angry, I'm sorry."

"Easy! Forget it!" Paul ruffled his black hair in annoyance, then he turned his head, looking at the appearance of Naomi who was mostly covered in bandages. "How are you doing? Is anyone still sick, huh!?" paul asked, looking into Naomi's eyes intensely. Hearing that, Naomi let out her breath.

"Thank you for asking that, but you don't have to worry, because I'm fine" Naomi replied with a calm face, then she glanced at Paul's appearance. That's when Naomi is shocked, considering that Paul has faced a very violent White Cloak horde, but why the man looks fine, his body has only minor injuries, unlike her who was so severe that she had to be bandaged. Then, astonished, Naomi asked Paul, "Did the robed men do nothing to you?"

Hearing that, Paul snorted. "I killed the leader! Jeddy's still there, taking care of the rest! And who says those bastards didn't do anything to us!? Of course those bastards attacked us! But we managed to defeat them!" Naomi is stunned, she does not believe there is anyone who is able to defeat strange people who can remove a large stone from her palm, then, Naomi became curious about something.

"Then, how do you beat them?"

"Rather than answering that! I better explain to you who you really are!" Naomi is shocked to hear Paul's words. Paul takes a chair and sits at the same table as Koko and Naomi. "You're a hero, Naomi."

Both of Naomi's eyes were wide. "Hero?" Naomi still doesn't understand this, but she starts to remember things. "May I confirm something?" Paul nodded quickly. "If I were a hero, then why would the robed people say that I was a piece of the devil and would later become an enemy of mankind? However, as long as you know, I don't actually believe in those two things, whether I'm a demon or a hero, but I want to be sure, because lately, I've been, I feel like there's something weird about myself."

Koko and Paul were shocked to hear this. "Not Demons? The enemy of mankind?" Paul weighed his thoughts for a few seconds until he finally came to a conclusion. "I get it now" Paul looked Naomi in the eye seriously. "They are spirit killers."

Naomi furrowed her brows, "Spirit Killer? What else is that?" The more here, the more difficult the discussion to understand, Naomi had to turn her brain to get enlightenment. "But" Naomi remembered something. "If you call them 'spirit killers', I agree. You see, they once told me about the spirits that must be exterminated and they also said that in my body, there is a demon spirit that will endanger humanity, is that true?"

"WRONG!" Paul immediately kicked the table violently, he fattened his teeth in annoyance. "Even the opposite! You will be the one who will protect mankind! To be a hero! Because inside your body, there's a firefly spirit! And just so you know, that spirit didn't choose humans carelessly! He chose you because you are a human who deserves to be a hero!"

"Re-really?" Naomi was aghast at Paul's words, she blushed a little, but hurriedly she asked the man something else. "So you said firefly spirit? What did that mean, was his spirit form like a firefly? And why-"

"Look! I'll explain from the beginning! So you have to remember!" Then, Paul began to explain everything about firefly spirits, mentors, ten heroes, spirit killer figures, anyone who was chosen to be a hero before him, and also about Roswel. Until finally, Naomi was not ceaselessly surprised to hear an explanation from Paul, but she began to understand now.

Naomi turned to Koko, "So you are also among the humans who were chosen to be a hero?" Koko nodded with a smile. "I didn't expect the world to hold so many amazing things" Naomi's view focused on Paul. "Since you are a mentor, then your job is to guide heroes like me to become true hero figures, is that it?"

"Yes!" paul said with passion. "Then from that! You have to bow to me, Naomi! Because I'm your mentor!"

Suddenly, Naomi lowered her head with a trembling body. "Before that, I want to apologize to you, Paul," Naomi said in a low voice. "Because this morning, I rudely humbled you just because you were an Eris. I'm really sorry for being so."

At first Naomi is restless, because the choices made by Paul have their own risks. For example, if Naomi chooses to go with Paul to Swart, then the risk is, she must leave her beloved city, her family, her friends, and all the memories she created as a child in her homeland. And if Naomi chooses to stay in Sablo, then the risk is, she will have to face those white-robed people, the spirit killers, the, who has great power and can eliminate his life in a matter of seconds. Naomi is confused as to which one to choose.

However, just now Naomi was about to give an answer, suddenly a thunderous voice sounded from someone. "BROOO!" Enter a green-haired and sturdy man into this slum restaurant while shouting for someone. The man immediately went to the table inhabited by Naomi, Koko, and Paul while crying. "Bro!" The man patted Paul on the shoulder in a familiar manner, making Naomi furrow her eyebrows. "I've done the rest! They're really weak, bro! I thought I'd be ganged up after you left that alley, hahahahaha!" And even more strangely, the man laughed at his own talk, really scary, Naomi thought.

"He is Jeddy!" paul told Naomi, trying to introduce Jeddy. "He's just like you, one of the humans chosen to be a hero. But you have to be careful with him, because he's a super perverted guy!" Naomi was stunned to hear it, she immediately shifted her kiss away from Jeddy, while displaying a bland smile.

"O-Oh, so, yes, hehehe, it's okay, I don't care about that" Naomi said trying to be friendly to Jeddy even though she was actually very uncomfortable with the green man. Jeddy smiled broadly at Naomi.

"Whoah! It turns out that when you look at your face up close, you look amazing, Naomi! It's not wrong that I think of you as 'My dear Naom', hahahaha!"

Both of Naomi's eyebrows raised, she is shocked to hear the name Jeddy made for her. "W-What do you mean you call yourself that, J-Jeddy?" Jeddy scratched his neck with a whimper.

"Haha! It means nothing, really! I just want to call you! So that we have a strong relationship! Ahhaha!"

Koko stifled laughter hearing that, as did Paul. While Naomi is upset, because she feels humiliated in front of Koko and Paul, while Jeddy just laughs without feeling that his words bring an uncomfortable atmosphere. But a moment later, Paul cleared his throat.

"So how? Which one did you choose, Naomi!? I want to hear your answer now!" Hearing that, Koko and Jeddy were silent, staring at the focus on Naomi's face that would respond to Paul's question. "Don't let your choice make you regret it later on, Naomi."

"Alright," Naomi said with a deep breath. "I'm willing to come with you to Swart City, because I'm curious about Colin, Nico, and Cherry, who are chosen human beings, just like me. That's the reason I want to come with you guys."

Hearing Naomi's answer, Paul, Koko, and Jeddy develop a wide smile.

"Thank God..," Koko was relieved after hearing Naomi's reply. "I'm glad you want to come with us, Naomi."

"Haha!" Jeddy. "My guess is right! You will miss me! That's why you chose to come with us! Ahhaha!" Hearing him, Naomi's eyebrows twitched in annoyance.

"Good!" Paul looked happy. "You have chosen the right choice, Naomi," Paul stood up from his chair. "Then, our task here is done! Time's home!" However, just as Paul was about to leave, Koko immediately withdrew her hand.

"You're forgetting something, Paul," said Koko anxiously. "You remember? When we're going to Sablo, there's someone who says they want to taste the city's food, which is why, we'd better buy a snack at this restaurant, Paul."

"You mean, Nico, yeah!?" Paul also remembered the words of Nico when he was about to leave for the city of Sablo. "Yes, buy him a lot of food! Jeddy, it's your job to find the bus stop! And Naomi, get your things ready to go to Swart!"

Koko immediately ordered a special meal of Sablo City which will be wrapped in waitresses to be made souvenirs. Jeddy ran outside the restaurant to find the nearest bus stop, while Naomi said to go home, to bring some things that must be taken, such as tools for worship, all kinds of veils, and so on, and similar.

And Paul's only job was to sit in a chair, waiting for his three students to complete their respective tasks.
