The Monster In Me

The Monster In Me
Brother! I'm Coming!

Don't mistake. Adnan is afraid not only because he knows that he has been cornered, but because it is likely that there are other creatures out there that have loaded the zombies into more dangerous walking weapons like this.

‘I can't give up. I have to protect Adira from this hell,’ thought Adnan. Deep in his mind he still wants to fight to be able to stand by Adira's side, but now he cannot say his wish out loud and confidently.

For Adnan could feel his consciousness being lost along with his blood flowing outward. Every second Adnan's body is getting weaker, while the zombies that re-enact him show no signs of stopping. Slowly, Adnan's eyes closed, the look on his face clearly showing how much he did not want to leave the world this way.

Everything seemed to happen in a very slow time for Adira who watched. He no longer tried to escape from the grip of Firda that flipped his body and made him escape as far as possible from the zombies. However, as much as possible Adira continued to look back, hoping to see her brother crawl out of the zombie hill and approach her with a bright smile. Honey, hope is hope. Adnan did not show his nose back.

‘Why is Brother here?’ Adira kept wondering as long as she limped beside Firda and Aron. ‘I knew Brother would come to save me, but I never expected that Brother would be so reckless. Then I should have done the same.’

“Dust, Dir! We just have to avoid the zombie's traveling path!” said Firda cheering Adira from the side. “Sama like yesterday, surely they just want to approach the source of the sound of the song Playground.”

Playground Song? Ah, Adira did not even realize that the noise had now turned into a song that was playing cheerfully. As previously anticipated.

Suddenly Adira clenched her legs violently before stopping walking completely. He stared intently at Firda and Aron, before breaking away from Firda's grasp. “You go! I have to save Brother Adnan first!”

Frantically Firda tried to restrain Adira. “Dir! This is not true! There's no way Adnan's sister can get out safely from there!”

“Shut!” Anger begins to take over Adira. It was as if his eyes were now burning red. He seems to be able to do anything to get to Adnan's side right now. “Do not talk carelessly! You know how amazing my brother is! He even came to this place just for my sake! How could I just leave?”

Firda admitted he trembled a little at how furious Adira was at the moment. Indeed, he knew that he had no right to force Adira who really wanted to go to save her brother. However, on the other hand, Firda knew very well that Adira would only end up following her brother leaving the world if the girl hit the zombie herd without any plan and careful preparation.

Aron who was now hugging Firda's waist tightly began to tremble violently. A child like himself is certainly not able to understand what is going on. The only thing he knew was that they had to immediately go save themselves. But why did Adira and Firda leave? Moreover, now the zombie riot that attacked the young man had begun to decrease, and now some undead had walked towards them.

Catching Aron's fear, Firda finally made up her mind. “Dir, for the last time, I beg you! Come on, go with us! There is nothing you can do to save Adnan!”

It is with great regret that Firda tries to make Adira aware of the reality they are facing. “Dir, all that is different to the current situation. At that time we were just facing a little zombie. And we too many times almost died because of all that! Now, follow me or your life will be over!”

Adira was surprised to hear the frank expression of the friend. Both of his eyes were shaking along with his gaping mouth. Adira did not find an answer that could refute Firda's statement, until he finally walked backwards.

“I can't stand it, Fir. I can't take it anymore.” Adira's words now sound very painful. The girl began to have difficulty wiping away the tears that had been rushing over. “What am I going to last all this time just to make my brother's life just go away? There is nothing more I want right now than my desire to spend time with Adnan. But now all that is impossible to materialize.”

“D-Dir, stop!” Firda was starting to feel very nervous. He saw the light in Adira's eyes slowly dimming. Representing the spirit of the life of the friend who is now almost no longer left. Firda tried to grab Adira's body, but her own hands now felt heavy. It was as if he was carrying a lot of large bricks on his arm. “Adira, please. There is hope out there. Think of your parents!”

Adira smiled wryly hearing that. Only then did he realize that since all this chaos had occurred, he had never once missed or worried about his parents. The only thing he thought about was how he could contact Adnan, to tell his position to the older brother. Because even if Adnan never promised to protect her, Adira always knew that Adnan would be willing to go wherever Adira needed him.

Adira is everything to Adnan, and Adnan is a world figure that Adira knows.

Can the girl feel that the zombie entourage is starting to lead to where she, Firda, and Aron are at this time, Adira still does not worry about anything and only thinks about the figure of her brother. The figure of Adnan who always smiled despite bearing the burden that Father and Mother gave him as the eldest son. Adnan who is always ready to install his body to become the protective fortress of Adira. There was not a single thing that he would let touch the younger brother, including Irwan and Dewi, their parents.

In fact, Adira knew that her brother had sacrificed many things, so that Irwan would allow Adira to join the school tour. However, Adira never said anything knowing that Adnan wanted to keep it a secret from her.

Now, as the figure of Adnan slowly disappears from his presence, Adira begins to regret himself who never returned a little kindness to his brother.

Armed with all those regrets, Adira finally stepped up bravely and started running crashing towards the zombies. Without paying any heed to Firda and Aron who were crying roared begging him back.
