The Monster In Me

The Monster In Me
Brother's Request

“Why does Big Brother always want to have lunch with me? Does Brother have no friends?”

The girl said curtly while putting a tray containing her lunch on the table. While the young man in front of him did the same with a gentle smile that never left his face.

“What's wrong with a sister wanting to spend time with her biological sister?” asked the young man calmly.

“But Brother Adnan, right, always met me at home! Don't make me look like a cold little sister who keeps avoiding her brother.” Adira's lips pursed before she finally sipped guava juice using a colored plastic straw in line with the color of the juice.

The two girls eyes looked around. The crowd among them that was so noisy in the ears should have made him uncomfortable. However, Adira feels better for being near her brother. Although not the slightest bit of his lips conveyed it to the concerned.

Adnan has always been. The young man's quiet carrying was contagious to those around him. No exception Adira. It's just that they weren't used to being together at school. I am used to being busy with my own business. Therefore, Adira felt a little unsettled when suddenly the older brother approached her to class just as the break time bell rang.

Seeing Adira continue to refuse to look at him, Adnan reached out his hand to gently pat the top of his sister's head. “Iya, yes. This time, really. Tomorrow you can have lunch with your friends again, yes.” Adnan laughed as Adira brushed her hand away violently. “After all who asked you to make a separate meal from friends? Big brother don't mind getting acquainted with them.”

“Ih, I do mind! Later the incident in SMP first to repeat. I'm tired of having to be my friends' love letters to Brother!” amuk Adira is a little exaggerating.

The girl did not like to be her brother's private postman, but she hated it more if one day there really was a girl who would distract the brother from her.

Possessive? I don't know. Until now Adira does not feel like tying the brother, but the fear of loss will definitely continue in his mind.

Suddenly Adnan laughed loudly until the look of Adira's face frowned. Both of the girl's thick eyebrows are seen swooping to the center, reminding Adnan of the bird's position as it prepares to fly. Adira's cheeks also looked slightly bloated as her lips pouted. Make the young man must take pains to stop laughter until the water pooled in both corners of his eyes.

Really, this one-of-a-kind little sister looks so adorable when she's angry.

“OK, Brother understands. If that's the case, brother can't do anything. It is not wrong Brother was born too handsome,” said Adnan full of pride. Even though his fingers continued to rub his nose as it felt awkward.

On the surface, Adnan does look confident. Completely different from his true identity as a teenager who is easily misbehaved.

Adira who was just about to eat fried rice suddenly kept a spoon in her hand with a rough. “If Big Brother continues like this, I go!”

“Eh, no!” Adnan's hand held Adira away as his eyes stared regretfully. Even though the corner of his lips was still twitching, it was holding back laughter. “Shut up a minute. Actually, Brother no request.”

Of course Adnan's speech was successful in making Adira again speechless. The two girls eyes were round full of curiosity. Unknowingly, he also leaned closer to the older brother sitting opposite him. However, the size of the table is wide enough to prevent it from greatly reducing the distance between them.

“Tumbens. Brother never asked me anything.” Adira's eyes seemed confused.

Adnan smiled at the expression of his sister. He then took out a leaflet which he folded in such a way from inside the pocket of the gray trousers he wore.

In the process, he hits an ant walking on the table, and blows it away.

Adira shuddered in disdain at her brother's behavior before she stared intently at the thick, colorful paper her brother had unfolded before her. The paper seemed to only have a length and width that was no more than fifteen centimeters. However, the page contains so much information, seen from the dense writing and

the picture that is there.

Just a quick look Adira knew what paper it was. Because he can see clearly the various photos that are displayed there.

“Why is Brother showing this to me?”

Adnan closed his lips briefly before answering Adira's question. “Kakakak want you to join a tourist event held by the school this time, Dir,” pinta Adnan soft. "The OSIS side has been working on this holiday specifically for your generation."

Adira took the leaflet from her brother's hand. His eyes widened to see bright colors coloring various shapes on display. One of the most striking things is the collection of horse statues connected to the pole in a circular position.

A carousel that characterizes the playground.

The girl shook her head. “No. Wh-wh-what for? Just a waste of time.”

Indeed, Adnan had expected Adira would reject him firmly. However, still the young man felt a pain in his heart. He took a deep breath before looking back at his sister. “Dir, it never hurts to relax once in a while. Do not continue to force yourself to live life according to your schedule and plans for the future,” he said with a sad expression.

That's why, this time, Adnan won't budge. He will make Adira follow his request, no matter how hard the girl refuses.

“I'm relaxed, really. Brother himself knows, I have no ambition to be the best or anything. I just want to make our parents proud. Is such a goal dangerous for me?”

“Not relaxed if you do not have time to have fun with friends your age.

Come, Dir. This trip will not take long. It will all be over before you know it.”

Suddenly Adira laughed. “If it suddenly ends without feeling so, what's the point? I better use the time to study and do the exercises about.”

“Adira! You know what Big Brother meant by that.”

Adira was silent for a moment. Surprised to hear the brother beating on him. Although Adnan's voice was not loud enough to beat the crowd in the cafeteria, it still made Adira flinch. Previously, the brother had never raised his voice when talking to him.

Adira's surprise may be clearly visible on his face, because the next second Adnan rubbed his face with a huff and looked back at Adira with a soft look. “Kakak don't want to force, but-“

“Is having fun so important to me?” asked Adira without waiting for her brother to finish

his speech.

Adnan nodded with certainty. “Sure. There's no way Big Brother is suggesting something that's not good for you.”

“But now Brother is in 12th grade, so Brother will not attend any event other than graduation celebration later, right?”

Adnan breathed a sigh. “True.”

Suddenly Adira hit the table with her hand still gripping the leaflet. “How would I like

come if there's no brother? Later if there is anything, who will take care of me?”

It seems that their debate has been too intense to begin to attract the attention of those around. Some of the students even blatantly stared at the two of them.

Some looked at Adnan with admiration, while others looked at Adira with envy.

Of course Adnan and Adira are not people who care about the views of others. They continued the conversation without being disturbed.

A smile was again etched on Adnan's lips, this time without being equipped with a mocking expression. “Adira, you're just going for a walk, not a war! What danger will befall you?”

Adira threw away her face while holding her chest. He knew he was being irrational, but he felt so upset by his brother's attitude that he said whatever appeared in his head.

“Who knows? The world is full of bad guys, Kak.”

Adnan was silent for a moment. Let Adira dissolve in her emotions, as long as she looks for ways to calm her sister.

Finally, he pointed towards Adira's phone lying on the table.

“The world is now very sophisticated, Adira. If something happens, you can always contact Brother.”

His words seem powerful enough. Because Adira wants to look at her sister again. Although pouting still adorned his face.

“Kakak is always ready to come to you whenever you need,” continued Adnan. “You can keep the promise of Brother.”
