The Monster In Me
Taka is Bored

“Hah! Look that! Absolutely disgusting!” Taka laughed mockingly at one of the zombies who was turning to and fro with a broken motion. He even imitated the movement of the zombie while exaggerating his facial expression by sticking out his tongue. “Sial! They look so stupid! Why can people be afraid of such stupid creatures?”

The young man leaned over, leaning completely against the balcony wall of the mock royal palace building. Both of his hands propped up his chin while he stared at the chaotic appearance of the Cakrabuana Playground that he could see clearly from a height. Not in the slightest he was afraid of zombies that might come and attack him suddenly. Because today is not a weekend, the palace buildings are closed. Plenty of padlocks are installed at each entrance. Taka had enough trouble finding a path for him to climb all the way to the top.

“About how many of my friends survived?” ask him to himself. Slowly, a thin smile was etched on his face. “Trisha must be alive, right? The child will buy Karsa or anyone who can protect him. Types of parasites that will continue to survive until the end.”

Brak!

Taka was jolted by a loud voice that suddenly sounded. He glanced down and saw how the zombies that might have just crashed into one of the fountains in front of the palace were slumped and growling violently. Inviting many other undead to also let out a heartbreaking and terrible sound. Though unafraid, Taka admits he is quite distracted by the voices of those competing with the howling sounds of dogs in the distance.

Even so, he just hummed and reached into his pants pocket. Take out a phone whose screen has been decorated with many cracks. Taka blew on the screen a few times, then rubbed it against his shirt to get rid of some of the dirt that was left, before he finally tried to turn it on. The young man cheered cheerfully as his mobile brand was clearly plastered on the flat object screen.

“It's a shame that the fountain is not emitting water, but the light looks quite beautiful,” he said while opening the camera application. “That kayak gini must be recorded. I'll edit a little bit more dramatically, then upload it to social media. It's gonna be a scene! Hopefully no one has preceded me yet.”

Taka hurriedly recorded the atmosphere below, as the voices of the zombies were getting weaker with time. He specifically focused his camera focus on the zombies who were trying to get back on their feet, but instead ended up in a position resembling a kayang position.

Just now Taka laughed satisfied when suddenly his phone screen died. “Ah! Damnit damnit! Turns out this obsolete object was damaged after it fell slammed!” his gerrick. He swung his hand and threw his phone. Exclaims when the object landed right on the head of one of the zombies.

Taka was proud because he could still see well even though the lighting tonight was not too bright.

“Hah ... Now I have to what?” complained again. Most of his current time was completely filled with complaints. Whenever he found something interesting to do, he would quickly get bored and complain. Luckily, he was alone at the moment. If not, it is certain that the person who is with him will feel annoyed at his behavior.

Until finally his eyes caught the sighting of a long and black object standing at the end of the balcony. After walking closer, his face was then radiant because he recognized what it was.

Taka's lips formed a disgusting grin as he aimed his binoculars at the female zombie that was walking around in a twisted step with its steps dragged and its head drooped to the side. The zombie looked pitiful with injuries all over its body, while one of its hands hung and looked almost severed. However, that is not all the things that are the center of attention of the young man today.

Without hesitation Taka directed his binoculars to show the zombie's shoulders are clearly displayed. His clothes that had been torn apart left part of his body exposed. The basket-eye enjoyed a scene that should not make himself excited. He did not care at all if his current attitude was considered undignified.

“There is no point in maintaining morals in a chaotic world like this,” he said in self-defense even though no creature around was able to judge his deeds. “Solah herself, why wear such an easily torn shirt?” Taka clicked his tongue while away for a moment from the binoculars to straighten his back that felt sore because he had to continue bending a little. “I'd rather end my own life than have to be like them.”

Taka wanted to stop playing with binoculars, but he saw a rapid movement not far from the palace grounds. Curiously he finally tried to figure out what it was. “No zombies move that fast,” murmured.

Justjust right. As he adjusted his focus and distance, he was able to see clearly enough that the creature running around was human. Without making a sound, the stranger moved from one bush to another. Cleverly hiding its existence from the zombies that were still wandering around aimlessly.

“Wait! It's not one person, but two!” Taka widened his eyes when he realized that the agilely moving man was holding a small child. “Women or men? Not visible clearly but certainly it's a child.”

And the thing that makes Taka consider himself to immediately get down from his position is a large backpack that is on the back of the child. “He took pains to bring a small child as well as a backpack that big. Surely the contents of the backpack are as important as their lives.”

Suddenly Taka's back let out a rumbling sound. His empty shell began to force him to look for food. The last time Taka ate food was when he was still on the bus with the school troupe, it was just a sandwich that was not enough to satisfy him. So, it was only natural that at this moment he was already feeling very hungry.

It was easy for him to travel to the nearest shopping center, but he knew that all the remaining survivors would definitely head there. He is very lazy if he has to interact with them or even join and move in groups of others. For he himself is more comfortable moving on his own, for he will have no responsibility to protect those weaker than him.

“Facing one to two people is much easier than facing many people at once.” Taka crossed his chest as he continued to watch the man in the hat and the little boy who was still resting near the guardrail between the palace and the nearest rides. Hiding behind shadows formed due to illumination limitations. “Then, I just snatch their backpack.”
