The Monster In Me

The Monster In Me
Both Are Better

Shouts continued to be heard from various directions, until Adira was no longer able to determine where her legs should go. Her hair had long been visibly messed up as her hands continued to nourish her with ruffles. The uniform that was attached to his body now no longer looked pure white. Various coloring stains until the name label printed on the chest is almost no longer legible. The girl got rid of the dust covering the writing there: “Adira Marwa B.”

I don't know until when Adira will keep that name attached to her uniform. As it seemed, he would not need it anymore after today.

No one would care about a name to call. Even Adira is not sure, whether there will still be beings who understand what the name is after everything that happened.

“Dir, what should we do? I don't see any of our friends nor Ms. Danita around.” Firda continued shaking Adira's shoulders while running beside her. Both of his eyeballs trembled at the sight that greeted the two of them.

Adira bit down her lips in agitation. Regretting the decision of the teacher and his friends who were too hasty to make them all separated shortly after stepping out of hiding.

As much as possible the girl saw the situation around. It had not been long since the chaos had occurred, but Adira was no longer able to recognize the place where she was now. Black smoke billowed in several places, suffocating anyone forced to inhale it. Asphalt that originally looked clean is now stained with a lot of liquid that is mostly deep red. Typical playground accessories that should display fun now do not look at all fun, lay with colors that can no longer be recognized. Adira did not want to admit that the mounds on the surrounding streets were lifeless bodies.

A very shabby little girl doll was lying not far from where Adira and Firda were running. The puppet continued to emit a sound resembling a disjointed cry.

There were several zombies moving closer to the two girls from various directions. Some of them stepped slowly by dragging their feet, while most of them walked quickly even though they were sometimes whiny and bumped into each other while continuing to roar. The horror Adira felt could no longer be described. Her vibrating reflex grabbed Firda, forcing her friend to increase her speed.

The two girls ran and ran as fast as they could. Ignoring the tiredness and pain of their body. Especially the back that continues to be hit by the backpack that moves as they run. Their breathing was so loud that they could not hear the other sounds clearly. However, one thing was certain, the creatures that were chasing them continued to growl and scream horribly. At first glance, Adira knew that all the zombies were preparing to devour them with gaping mouths.

From a distance, a large circle of giant barred. Sebatat Adira was upset to realize that they were back in the ring.

“We're lost, aren't we?” asked Firda in between her gasping breaths.

“It's okay. We just have to keep running. The speed of the creatures was not as fast as Abian told.”

“But ... ouch!” Firda tripped on his own feet until he fell to the ground. Luckily, the gray skirt Firda wore was long enough to cover her knees. The scratches that arise are not so big even though the girl still grimaces and has to walk in a limp.

It didn't take long until those monstrous creatures managed to get close to them.

With all the power they had, the girls kept trying to block the attack. Adira pushed hard the zombie whose face was covered by long blonde hair. While Firda kicked the powerful monstrous man who was dragging his own body towards the two girls.

Adira and Firda protect each other with their backs attached to each other.

“They are too strong!” shout Firda.

Despite not responding to anything, Firda knew full well that Adira felt it too. Because, half-dead Firda held her body so as not to be pushed by Adira's body which continued to press her from behind.

Not taking it anymore, Adira took off her backpack. Hit it towards the zombie in front of him, and throw it at the zombie that attacked Firda.

Backpacks filled with boredom repellent books during the trip made the two zombies fall while continuing to roar.

The two friends were in a crouching position. Utilize thick shrubs to cover their tiny figure. Firda rubbed her chest slowly while trying to catch her breath to calm down again. While Adira put his eyes together to watch the movements of the terrible creatures out there.

The blood-soaked ‘men’ no longer seem to force their bodies to run. A woman with messy hair who had chased Adira with her body tilted to the side now seemed to just spin in place. Occasionally his body looked convulsed and a shrill voice came out from his lips that dripped a lot of red liquid.

Adira's eyes widened to see that. He then looked back at the other zombies. Not much different, the beings who had originally chased them with an expression of cruelty now seemed busy themselves and walked to and fro much more calmly.

Adira sees the situation as an opportunity. Without a second thought the girl pulled her friend back to her feet.

“Eh, where are you going?” whispered Firda panicked.

However, Adira nonchalantly prepared to leave. Until he accidentally nudged a slender wooden pole of a nearby road guide.

The pole, which had been repeatedly targeted by violence when the attack began, was not enough to remain standing after colliding with Adira.

Brak!

The sound of the fall of the pole on the ground makes Adira and Firda again an easy target for all the zombies around.

Time seemed to stop for a moment as his entire head turned to them.

“Hide behind ruins near carousel!” Adira shouted with all her strength.

The two friends ran. As much as Firda's energy ignored all the pain so as not to bother Adira. However, Firda suddenly widened his eyes when he did not find Adira beside him.

“Corsel on the right there! Where are you going?!” Anxious Firda caught up with Adira who continued to run in the opposite direction of their goal.

“I can't stand just being quiet and hiding. I have to find something to defend myself in the mall.”

“Alright, I will come with you,” said Firda while pulling Adira who almost tripped by the rigid bodies lying down.

Adira held back her screams. Suddenly his stomach felt nauseous when his sense of smell returned to feel the smell of fishy and piercing. As much as possible he focused on his best friend who continued to hold his hand. “But ... This is dangerous,” he said slowly.

It was hard for Firda to look at her best friend with a faint smile. Although all of his hair bristled as he felt his shoes wet by the puddle of liquid he stepped on. “It's okay. Both are better than alone, Ra.”
