The Monster In Me

The Monster In Me
Quarrelling

“Are you crazy?!” amuk Adira while rubbing his chest with a breath of breath. He could feel his fast and hard heartbeat. Almost made his ribs feel sore. This incident really tested his guts, exceeding the night jurit event that is often held by the school as part of Scout activities that must be followed by all students.

“Absolutely who can remain sane in a situation like this?” firda protested while tightly holding the shabby ape doll in her hand. The doll's face seemed to be torn at some point, while the drumstick she was holding was missing one. However, the puppet still let out a loud drumming sound every time the middle of its body was pressed.

That annoying drum sound that makes them visited by dozens of zombies in an instant and almost killed.

Adira closed her eyes tightly. He could no longer hold back his anger against his friend. For a moment he noticed the broken speakers that were near them. The loudspeaker continues to rotate the Java chatter that is usually associated with mystical stories. Of course, because they were on the Ghost House rides.

Coupled with the rattling sound caused by a zombie-like attack on the speaker made the chat that seemed far more terrible.

However, it was that sinister voice that was able to save Adira and Firda at this moment. It seemed, the zombies would not be interested in the sound that continued to sound consistently. And any sound that comes out of Adira and Firda's mouth mingles into one with the song, so they don't have to worry about being attacked.

Therefore, the two of them can now rebuke each other freely.

“I know everything that's happening right now almost makes us lose our minds! Moreover, never once have we learned how to survive while avoiding vile creatures like zombies!” Adira rubbed her face violently before looking at Firda who was still keeping her distance. “But you should know that we cannot recklessly act! What you did earlier almost hurt both of us!”

“OK! I'm sorry!” yelled Firda at last. Angrily he threw away the monkey doll which was one of the reasons the two of them were now fighting. “I just want to distract me a little bit from all the horrors we continue to experience endlessly! That's why I picked up the doll we found outside the dress shop. How do I know that the doll will sound so loud?”

Firda seemed to start having trouble breathing because of her overflowing emotions. He stopped for a while before returning to talk. “After all, until when should I keep quiet and hide without doing anything? Then how is it different from the dead?”

Adira was silent. The frustration that Firda expressed landed right on target in Adira's mind. He really can understand the feelings of his friend, because he himself did not stop holding all negative feelings so as not to overflow the surface. However, he was also just an ordinary High School student who had yet to face much of the cruelty of the world. Moreover, the zombie attack was not something that many people had experienced before. Adults are not necessarily strong enough to survive in this situation. All of that is evident from the many bodies of men and women scattered along the road.

And although Adira refuses to admit it, she knows very well that not everyone who lost their lives was caused by the zombie atrocities. Not a few among the visitors who chose to resign even ended their own lives because of despair.

“I'm also sorry,” reply Adira finally. He walked slowly and sat near a replica ambulance. Lean on a coffin lying on the ground. Not one bit he felt afraid of all the ghost statues and imitations of terrible things, because what happened out there was many times more frightening than all this. “Only, we have to be very careful. Don't let us end up being one of the zombies for acting recklessly.”

Although there were still many complaints that Adira wanted to express, all her might was restraint. Letting her words stop until there and providing an opportunity for Firda to ponder over everything. Nope. More precisely the two of them.

In such a precarious situation it would be very easy for them to clash with each other. Friendships that have not been established strong enough can be cut off just because of a debate that should not need to happen. They were still standing straight, without any significant injuries. Although there was not much energy left, Adira and Firda were still more than able to speak more calmly, heart to heart.

No one knew when they would have to go back to face off against the zombies. Especially when they would be rescued from this place. So as long as there is still an opportunity, Adira and Firda should respect each other's existence by holding hands, rather than by shouting at each other.

“Maybe we should rest first. We left the store at dawn, meaning soon the sun will rise,” Adira suggested. “We have walked a lot, even the supplies in your bag have long been exhausted. If like this continues, we could collapse.”

“Ten minutes.”

Adira blinked her eyes. “What?”

“I'm going to sleep for a while. Just ten minutes. After that we can go again.” Firda looked at Adira for a while before sticking her legs forward. Find a comfortable position for her to sleep in. Although still his back feels pain leaning against the hard and rough textured vehicle wall. He really doesn't care. The extreme fatigue made him enjoy whatever he could get right now.

Adira wanted to remind Firda that they did not have any objects that could show or count the time for them, but he paused that intention. He and Firda are entitled to rest for whatever they need.”

One thing that becomes a problem is, Adira has not felt safe enough so that drowsiness does not come at all. Finally he just closed his eyes in a sitting position while trying to convince his brain that he was really resting.

The sound of a terrible song still echoed from the loudspeaker. However, for some reason, Adira felt that the atmosphere between them now felt more calming than before. It was as if every sound that was heard was a natural melody that was commonly heard from the waterfall as well as from the raindrops that hit the precarious. It is loud, but does not interfere with their hearing at all.

“That's enough. Whenever you are ready, we can go,” said Firda suddenly to make Adira quite surprised.

Adira turned to look at her best friend who had been standing up since when. Complete with a smile and a burning spirit. “What? You don't want to go?” Firda looked frowned looking at Adira who was just looking at him in silence.

Adira then cleared her throat. “Oh, sorry. I'm just surprised. I thought you'd be mad at me longer than this.”

“What do you mean?” asked Firda while chuckling. “We can continue fighting after we made it out of here safely.”

They both laughed. It turned out that their short break was able to make the mood of the two girls better than before. Finally Adira stood up and embraced Firda with a fluffy smile.

“Good. Then, what are our plans this time?”
