The Monster In Me

The Monster In Me
Wait Brother

“We are working hard to conduct further investigation. Please keep waiting quietly outside the boundary line we have set,” said the man in uniform in front of Irwan with a face that is difficult to interpret.

Irwan who initially asked calmly started to feel uneasy. The answers he got did not satisfy him at all. “Please just tell me what is really going on. Is it true that inside there is a gathering of man-eating monsters? Is there a survivor?”

“Sorry, Sir. I can't say anything before everything is certain. Please understand.”

“How can I understand if you all do not say anything useful?” asked Irwan again loudly. He began not to be able to hold the anger that had kept him quiet. “Actually what are you guys doing? Why are you just gathering here instead of going in there to save my son? Huh?”

Irwan took a deep breath while taking a few steps back. Until suddenly he ran and intended to hit a barricade that closed the access road. The policemen who were nearby deftly grabbed her body and held her back from going any further. Irwan thrashed out with all his might, with his index fingers continuously directed at the policemen one by one. “Don't hold me! Do you have no heart? My son is alone there!” The man continued to shout, drawing the attention of the families of the other victims who were also there.

Irwan's body was then pushed to fall backwards, but he did not give up and rose again. He continued to try to break through, without feeling ashamed of having been the center of attention.

However, apparently Irwan's actions were able to cultivate the courage of many who witnessed. As commanded, the men followed Irwan's lead and began trying to break through the police defenses. Overwhelming the men in uniform until they could no longer control their expressions. Frantically they exerted all their ability to contain the raging crowd.

“Let us in!”

“If you don't want to do anything, let us save our own family!”

“My boy! Mom and Dad are here, son!”

One by one they started screaming. Wish their family members could hear it from behind the gate that was still a few meters away. Their voices sounded hoarse and poignant, capable of heartbreaking anyone who heard them, including the police officers. However, the task entrusted to them made the police stand firm to hold the crowd even though their hearts were not able to bear.

“Please stay calm! If it continues like this, someone will get hurt!” one of the police warned.

It was a pity that his voice was swallowed by a much louder scream, even though the policeman had used a portable loudspeaker.

In the midst of all that chaos, Adnan who had been watching from the car, sneaking out without making a sound that might wake his mother. It is indeed hard for Adnan to leave the currently drooping Goddess helpless, but he must act immediately to save Adira.

“Everyone is focusing on the commotion. Mom will be fine here.” He tried to convince himself.

The young man then walked away. Down a road still full of police on guard. The police officers seemed to flinch at each other's place to frustrate Adnan. “Is there no path I can go through without being discovered?” thought.

The sound of gunfire could be heard from a distance. The policemen who were near Adnan seemed a little jolted and turned to the source of the voice. An idea that came to mind the young man made him smile thinly.

The officer who was near Adnan seemed to only frown without showing the slightest sign of moving from his position. Adnan had even pulled the man's hand firmly, but there was no result. Adira's brother was almost desperate as another officer standing a few meters away walked towards them.

“It looks like this kid is right. I can't contact the officers standing guard there,” said the newly arrived man anxiously. Actually, he spoke while whispering, but Adnan who was putting his ears wide was able to hear his words clearly.

“But we must not leave our current place,” said another man as he put away Adnan's hand which was still holding his uniform tightly.

“It's okay. There's hardly anyone around here. We'll just go for a while.”

“Then, I'll just go.”

“Do not go alone. There was a warning shot, so I think the situation is quite serious.”

Adnan crossed his arms while frowning as he watched the two police officers argue. He could not help himself until he finally shouted. “Pak! Hurry on! Before one loses life just because of the commotion that should be able to be stopped!”

Adnan's words turned out to be powerful to make the police silent for a while before finally one of them spoke. “Alright, we will check it soon. You better go back to the place or meet the other police officers who are at the end of this road. They'll direct you to a safe place.”

Only then, finally Adnan managed to make the two policemen get away from his presence. He was now standing alone, the nearest police officer was a few meters away, and the officer was focusing on looking the other way, so Adnan can assume that now no one is watching him.

He quickly jumped over the police fence without difficulty. His long legs easily passed through the fence that was not even taller than him. He then ran towards the outer wall of the Cakrabuana Playground that stood firm, as if there was not the slightest bit of chaos behind it.

Adnan's palm touched the wall slowly. “Sial! Now, how do I climb this wall?”

The young man continued to look back and forth anxiously. He must quickly find a solution before anyone realizes his existence. Moreover, there were not many trees that could cover the figure of his large tall body there. Each tree grows over a certain distance, so Adnan has to stay right behind one of the trees if he doesn't want anyone to see it.

Not getting another idea, Adnan then tried to climb a large mahogany tree nearby. Carefully hold on and place her footing on a branch that looks strong. Don't let him fall and get hurt until he can't run looking for Adira later.

“Adira! Wait Brother!”
