Abrine didn't know what to answer Raymond. Should he be honest with the man about what he is dealing with? But, somehow he did not want to be frank, considering Raymond had lied to him and closed about a relationship with him. Raymond shouldn't know everything about him. Yeah, at least about this. Before the matter is over, it's good for Abrine to keep his mouth shut, let Raymond speculate himself. If there is a chance and everything is done, maybe that's when Abrine will tell Raymond about what happened.
"Brine, are you really getting married?" Raymond repeated the same question. There was a deep sense of disbelief about what he had accidentally heard from this Abrine.
"Ehm..mm...." Abrine was confused, he wanted to say no, but he couldn't possibly say yes either, right?
"Answer, Brine. Tell me this is just a joke!" Raymond began to speak his mind.
"Yes, I'm getting married, Ray!" abrine finally said. But in his heart he continued the sentence that he would indeed marry later, not now. And I don't know who it will be with. Although Abrine realized that speech was a prayer, but indeed he also expected a marriage someday, so he did not feel wrong to say it.
"What?" That made Raymond aghast. "Don't mess around, Abrine!" continued.
...Tok tok...
The sound of a knock on the door saved Abrine from Raymond's next question.
"Ray, it looks like this call has to end, I have business."
Without waiting for a reply from Raymond, Abrine immediately disconnected the call and kept his phone in his pants pocket. Before he even deactivated cellular data to avoid receiving calls again either from Raymond or Yemima, he was lazy to explain, because his main goal now was to solve the ridiculousness that Elrich had made in front of his father.
Abrine opened the door of his room, a tall man with brownish hair stood up while putting both fingers in his pants pocket. His style is very relaxed, but Abrine is sure if the mind of this man should be tangled.
"Why?"
"Come on! I'm going to see you now."
"Yes, just meet. Make sure everything is done today. I'm going home soon."
"Yes, I'll make sure everything's done today and we can get home soon. But I want you to also hear my conversation with Dad."
"Why? Are you afraid to face your father alone?" Abrine smiled full of sneers. "Fear your father's mad if you're lying to him?" he continued, looking at Elrich from head to toe as if underestimating the man.
Elrich just smiled faintly. "Whatever you want to say! Come on!"
Finally Abrine followed the man's steps and walked right behind his sturdy body. Abrine even whistled leisurely while folding his hands on his chest. Ah, this matter will finally be resolved. If Edgar will be angry with Elrich, let that man alone finish it. It is wrong to lie to your parents.
"Dad...." Elrich opened the door to his father's room. But Abrine waited outside, feeling awkward about coming in before he was allowed to.
"Yes, El?" Edgar who was looking at the view from the window of his room-turned facing the prince.
"We want to talk."
"You mean you and Abrine?"
"Yes, Dad."
"Well, we're just talking in the living room so that Abrine won't hesitate." Edgar took a quick glance at Abrine who was in the doorway, he understood the girl's grace.
Arriving in the family room, Edgar sat on a sofa. He looked at El and Abrine in turn.
"So, is there a decision, El?"
Elrich nodded his head. While Abrine just kept waiting for El who will soon be sprayed by his father for lying.
"Me and Abrine, actually...." Elrich looked at Abrine for a moment, looking hesitant but then continued his sentence. "Actually, we've agreed to get married in two months, Dad." El's words sounded very calm and confident.
Hearing that, Abrine jumped in shock from his position. What the fuck? He glared at Elrich who threw a faint smile at the girl. If he had sneered at El's relaxed attitude, now he was facing execution for this man's words. All this was not in accordance with his expectations. Damned!
"Good! That's a real man." Edgar's face looked crisp, inversely proportional to the face of Abrine who pias whitened like no blood flowing under his skin.
"Good, Dad."
Abrine shook his head violently, he looked at Elrich alternately with Edgar.
"Uncle.... Uncle... wait a minute!" prevent Abrine while approaching Edgar who almost left the family room.
"What's up, son?"
"It's not like that, it's a mistake. Doctor El was just kidding, wasn't he, doctor?" Abrine looked at El as if seeking support there. But Elrich just sniffed his shoulders indifferently.
"Uncle, Doctor El lied. We-we were actually no hub-" Abrine's mouth was immediately gagged by Elrich's wide palm. Abrine thrashed to be released but El put all his strength in order for Abrine not to continue the sentence that he clearly knew the continuation.
"Dad, rest. Sometimes Abrine still likes to behave. I-I-only I can deal with it."
Edgar smiled and nodded at Elrich. He walked back to his room. At the same time Abrine bit El's hand which kept smothering his mouth.
Elrich grimaced, Abrine instead added by stepping on the man's feet firmly. He glared at Elrich. Angry and upset of course.
"You're! Remember yes, our business is not done yet, Doctor!" crush Abrine while passing after Edgar's steps. He wanted to say everything before it was too late.
Elrich wanted to prevent but Abrine's footsteps really made his legs hurt, he only shouted the girl's name repeatedly, but Abrine did not digubris at all because Abrine continued to continue step by step following Edgar.
*******
Abrine caught up with Edgar, he explained everything to the middle-aged man. Starting from the accident that had occurred to make El's hand broken. He also said El took advantage of his circumstances, so inevitably he agreed to the crazy idea Elrich made.
Edgar listened to Abrine's explanation carefully. Sometimes he nodded but he looked ordinary. There was no look of disappointment, anger or even surprise. The middle-aged man looked very calm and difficult to guess. What exactly did Edgar think after knowing all this?
"Actually, Uncle already knows that you guys have nothing to do."
"W-what?" It was precisely now Abrine who was shocked. "Where did Uncle know?" tanyakanya.
Edgar smiled, but the smile was hard for Abrine to interpret. "You guys look awkward to each other. And often argue. Uncle may be old. Uncle's glasses may not be able to clearly capture your attitude toward each other, but these parents' ears and feelings can't be lied to."
Abrine was ashamed of Edgar's words. He was caught lying before he admitted it.
"But, Uncle's decision and speech did not drag, Uncle still bless you."
"But, Uncle? We're not even dating. We just got to know. I also don't want to hang my life on a man I don't trust."
Edgar smiled faintly at Abrine's words.
"Not dating doesn't mean you can't get married. Many are married because of an arranged marriage that they did not know each other before. And let's assume Uncle's betrothed Elrich to you, son."
Abrine was shocked. "But.. but... What about my trust in him, Uncle? I can't believe it yet. Lookie! Today he lied to me, he said he would be honest with Uncle but he was talking about marriage" Abrine lamented, sighing softly.
"To know it or not, doesn't guarantee that trust exists, son. You may not even be able to trust people you have known for so long. Or rather the belief may fade over time because of deeds."
Abrine speechless. Edgar reminded him of Raymond. Yes, his trust in the man he had known for a long time was now fading because despite having known him for a long time but Raymond could bear to lie to him, yes that's what Edgar intended in his speech.
"But, Doctor El lied to me earlier, too" Abrine murmured softly.
"At least, with you following El all the way to this Villa, that means you have a lot of faith in him. Try asking yourself, if you didn't believe him in the first place, how could you possibly want him to come to this place, right?"
