Surprise Child's
Chapter 37 Finally Meet

Despite the victory of the Elves but the alliance could not close their anxiety, as long as the Riders were still alive and somewhere they continued to make every effort for world peace.

Continuing to inform each other in the search mission Zaruta came with news that was quite surprising to the Kings, it was the message of the three princes who wanted to unite forces in order to realize everyone's dream.

"Tell your master to come at a quarter of the night, we will listen" King Thomas said.

For hundreds of years they thought vampires never existed now they have to accept their presence by force, all for the sake of finding Sophia alone.

The three princes responded to King Thomas' request and came at his request, without the bodyguards of only three princes and Zaruta.

In the magnificent palace of King Thomas the kings and three princes came face to face for the first time, throwing eyes at each other.

"I'm sorry that there's no proper welcome for your presence" King Thomas said.

"Don't be ignored, we are used to being considered non-existent" Dimitri said.

"What if we get straight to the point" said King Salim.

As Dimitri expected the humans were impatient, he also said about the plan he built to make Sophia out of her nest.

"Are you sure this is gonna work?" ask King Thomas a little uncertain.

"We can try it, isn't it better than a search that doesn't pay off?" saith.

King Thomas realized it had a point, so he accepted the suggestion and their fellowship.

......................

Deciding to walk down the river their steps stop when they see a steep waterfall, there is no safe way except to enter the forest but Albert did not like it.

He stood on the riverbank looking for a way to get down there safely.

"Why do you want to waste time on useless things? we can go around the forest and return to the river safely" Damien said, starting to get upset that Albert had been quiet for too long.

"No, this forest is too dark. There may be one way," he said.

Damien did not understand why Albert was adamant, he only watched the young man jump to a stone to see how steep the waterfall was. Staring across the river he thought he might be able to cross safely and descend by holding on to the roots of the tree.

"Do you think those roots are strong enough?" ask Albert and look.

"Perhaps, but I think it's gonna be hard to hold on because it's slippery."

"Once, maybe we shouldn't touch the roots directly. We can use the cloth first," said Albert.

He jumped again on one stone, but because the distance was far enough he miscalculated so that his legs slipped.

Byurr...

"Albert!" damien shouted in shock at the sight of Albert falling into the river.

Without a second thought he immediately threw himself into the river, trying to grab Albert's hand which flailed above the water surface.

Unfortunately, the swift flow of the river made it difficult to swim, which is what made Albert carried away the current quickly and almost drowned.

As much as possible they continue to blow their heads above the surface of the water to breathe air, but the closer they get to the end of the waterfall the more swift the flow of water that makes it difficult for Albert to survive until accidentally hit his head hit a rock.

His body began to sink under the current until it finally fell in the waterfall, Damien who fell at a glance saw a black shadow darting towards them and felt something clutching his body.

Up in the air he realized that the figure was a huge dragon, gripping his body and Albert with enough strength to make it difficult to move.

"Oh, Albert!" exclaimed Damien immediately checked the body of his surprise child.

"Damn!" his grunts when he found fresh blood coming out of the wound on his head.

Confused what to do he saw the dragon as if watching them, still standing at the mouth of the cave as if afraid they would run away.

"Luca? what's up?" ask someone from the cave.

Damien turned his head and was surprised to see that it was Sophia, as well as Sophia who did not expect to meet them.

"Damien!" call Sophia immediately hugging.

"Sophia, we've been looking for you all this time. Are you all right?" damien asked could not cover up his worries.

"What's going on?" sophia asked glued to the unconscious Albert.

"He's hurt" Damien said.

"Hurry and get him in!" Sophia's orders.

The dragon went inside as Damien carried Albert's body inside, on a large stone illuminated by the light of fire he laid it down for Sophia to treat.

"He'll be fine" Sophia told Damien after she finished treating Albert.

"Is he your dragon?" damien asked looking at the dragon who was curling up.

"His name is Luca" Sophia said.

Damien suddenly touches Sophia's cheek which makes him flinch in shock from the cold, but then he gets used to it and lets Damien pet her.

As Damien's thumb played on her lips Sophia again felt a strange sensation that she had long since missed, unable to endure it any longer despite the cold Sophia let Damien do as they wished.

Just a few minutes was enough, still clad in the messy clothes the occasional light kiss Damien gave on Sophia's forehead.

"Do you feel safe here?" ask Damien slowly.

"Yes, Luca and I are living peacefully without anyone knowing."

"Then we will also stay here" Damien decided.

"No Damien, you have to go!" sergeant Sophia made Damien frown.

"Why?" ask Damien.

Sophia gulped, with a frightened look she replied "Because I'm the Rider."

It was the day he looked Luca in the eye for the first time, his soul drifting back for the third time. The mark on his forehead was clearly visible which indicated that he was ready to become a Rider, but then what he saw in Luca's eyes was their bleak future.

As everyone said he and Luca were a disaster, they would destroy everything in sight and force the living to submit.

"I must remain alone, isolated from the outside world like the Zimbe. It's the only way I won't be the Destroying Rider" Sophia said.

"How can you be sure of that?" damien asked, not accepting.

"The mark on this forehead was obvious when I met Luca, but I still had my sanity. That means we have to be here forever" Sophia replied.

Damien was still reluctant to accept Sophia's decision, but she stopped arguing and chose to hug the girl for a long time.
