My beloved Young Miss
42 Need Sleep

Alvin let out a long sigh, making Dave who was sitting explaining the material in front of him instantly come to a halt. He looked at Alvin with a dazed eyebrow.

"What's wrong?" ask Dave.

"What?"

"explanation. Is it hard for you to understand?" asked Dave with a curious look because he saw his best friend who had seemed silent, daydreaming.

Alvin.

The young man then lowered his gaze to stare at the thick book before him and turned to the surrounding area. He just remembered that he and Dave were in the library because they were working on a group assignment that had just been given by a lecturer in their class a while ago.

"Is the theme not suitable for you?"

"I-i"

"If it's too hard to understand we can just change the theme." Dave suggests.

"No. No need." Alvin shook his head quickly, "This theme is the best."

"All right." Dave nodded his head understandingly. Dave who was about to work on the material, looked back at Alvin with a curious look. "But are you okay?"

"Yes?"

"I asked, are you okay? Your face looks pale. You sick?"

Alvin looked at Dave's face which looked worried as well as curious. He sighed slowly. His best friend always knew anything about Alvin without needing Alvin to say anything to him.

"The black circle under your eyes is interfering with my vision. You look like a sick man." Dave was joking, but he was serious.

"I'm fine, Dave."

"You sure? I mean, you daydream a lot today. You didn't even seem focused during the delivery of the material in the class."

"It's okay. Maybe I just don't sleep enough." Alvin pinched his forehead, feeling a little dizzy.

"See that. You're sick." Dave protested.

"No problem, Dave. I will rest if I have time." replied Alvin still staring at the thick book in front of him. "So where we were?"

Dave was silent, staring at his best friend. Alvin was always like this. No matter his health at all. Dave knows Alvin's tired right now.

"You go to sleep first! Rest."

Alvin frowned, "What do you mean?"

"What part of the word 'rest' do you not understand?"nagel Dave.

Alvin replied with a snort.

"Not that. You saw for yourself that our college assignment wasn't done. But you're telling me to take a break?"

"It's an easy task. I can do it myself."

"But it's a group task."

"Oh Alvin, after all, I also often sleep when you do group work. Consider this my return. When you're done, you can check my work."

"I don't want just one person working. It's a group task. We both have to work on it. Let's get to work!" alvin Pinta.

"Then let's just end the discussion. You rest first. You must be exhausted. I think you're working too hard." Dave guessing.

"Maybe, yeah. But I don't think it's necessary to end our material discussion. I just-"

"Stop talking. You rest now. We still have one more course to attend after this. Do not let you not focus later." cut Dave at length while putting his things into his bag.

"Well, I'll follow your wish."

Alvin gave up and put his belongings in his bag.

"Does the boss at your new job force you to lift heavy things?" Dave asked, he knew it. But that question came up because he saw Alvin who looked so exhausted, for some reason. "...or, does he keep asking you to work endlessly, is that it?"

"No. Come on Dave, ask me something more sensible." Alvin said to the silly question while putting his bag on his shoulder.

"Yes, okay. Sorry." Dave shook his shoulders. "I'm asking because you look like someone who's getting stuck."

Alvin hurriedly held his face.

"really? I look like that?"

"Yes, right." Dave nodded.

"Did it look so obvious?"

"Yes," Dave nodded.

"I'm not stamped. I just feel tired and sleepy."

"I wonder what your job is. You seem to have a lot of mind burden. Like not sleeping for a few days."

Alvin chuckles. "Better you don't know."

"Why?"

"If you knew you'd be surprised."

"Your brains are so negative." said Alvin, shaking his head tired.

Dave laughed amusedly.

"Yes already. You rest first!" said Dave. "Let me return these books to the library cupboard."

Dave then stood up while carrying a stack of books on his chest to the library closet to return them.

"Feel better?" dave asked as he looked at Alvin who had just woken up from his sleep, looking into his eyes.

Alvin turned his head, looking at Dave who seemed to focus on reading the book in his hand. Alvin looked around, looking at the library a little quieter than before.

Alvin rubbed his face roughly, "How long have I been asleep?"

"An hour."

"An hour?"

"Hm." Dave who was reading the book just nodded, without looking. Meanwhile, Alvin's eyes immediately rounded perfectly.

"Dam. Why didn't you wake up, anyway?" Alvin hurriedly pulled next to his bag strap, about to stand up but at Dave's hold.

"You're playing believe it. I lied." Dave could only giggle amusedly as he shook his head in disbelief at how stupid his best friend was.

"Huh?"

"Grass your watch."

Alvin checked his watch. "Fifteen minutes?"

"Yes, you only slept for fifteen minutes!" answer Dave chuckled.

"really?" ask Alvin not to believe it.

Alvin could only gawk at Dave who had just been raking at him, while Dave still laughed as he put his book on the table. "I'm sorry, my intention was just to prank you earlier. I really didn't know you'd be so easy to lie to."

As a friend, Dave knows that Alvin is a plain young man who is easy to work with, but Dave does not know that Alvin believes in him.

"You're really mean." said Alvin, clinging to his shoulder by the strap of his bag.

"Hey, I'm sorry." Dave defended himself.

"All right, all right, let's go to class!"

Alvin got up and immediately stepped into his class, followed by Dave who still seemed to be laughing behind him.

"So, are you feeling better now?" Dave asked again as they were on their way to class.

"Lumayan." Alvin nodded. "It turns out fifteen minutes of sleep is quite fresh as well. My sleepiness has also diminished."

"Then, have your strings decreased as well?"

"What are you saying. I told you right from the start that I'm not in the mood." Alvin answered lazily, making Dave chuckle.

"If you say no, but still, you can't cover up reality."

"What do you mean?"

"Your face." said Dave pointing at Alvin with his chin. "After you wake up, you look a little better than before."

"That's because my drowsiness has reduced" said Alvin rubbed his face slowly. "But I feel that my face must look like someone just woke up right now."

"Yes, your pillow face is really visible." Dave agreed.

"Then I'll go first."

After saying that, Alvin turned around and ran against the direction.

"Where are you going?" shouts Dave confused.

"Toilet. I want to wash my face. My eyes are too sleepy for the next hour of college. I don't want to fall asleep while class is going on. You go to class first!"

Alvin ran into the toilet. He must hurry because the next lecture hours will start soon. Alvin washed his face several times and dried it using the available tissue.

After finishing, Alvin threw the tissue into a litter box near the toilet sink and stood in front of the glass to check his hair.

Alvin was tidying his hair in front of the glass when he heard someone calling out to him.

"Alvin's."

Alvin turned his head and frowned when he saw Karina standing in the doorway of the toilet.

"Marina?"

Karina stared at Alvin for a few seconds before suddenly stepping in and closing the toilet door and washing it from the inside, making Alvin's eyes round.

"What are you doing, Karina?"
