For a few seconds Alvin was again stunned in his position. The reason Evelyn mentioned just now for a few seconds had made Alvin's lost confidence grow back.
Alvin's heart was delighted. It was like someone had given him a hope that his presence was expected.
The next second, Alvin came to his senses from his own mind and immediately shook his head. He is confused with himself. What did he just think?
Well, true to say people, being overconfident is not a good thing.
Alvin stared doubtfully at Evelyn who was now back to continue eating casually. He cleared slowly.
"Miss I'm not really a person who is suitable to be made as a friend. Especially by people like you." said Alvin feel inferior.
"People like me?" Evelyn raised her eyebrows.
"Yes,"
"What kind of person am I?"
"Rich. Well-favoured. Perfect. Miss friends are also rich and very honorable people."
Evelyn suddenly chuckled in amusement after hearing that answer.
"Oh, come on Alvin. That's a ridiculous excuse you're making up too much." Evelyn then looked at Alvin with her stolen gaze. "Don't you just make excuses because you're not willing to be my friend? That's right, isn't it?"
Alvin hurriedly shook his head to refute Evelyn's conjecture.
"No, that's not what it means. You do not misunderstand me first" said Alvin again with a stutter.
"But somehow I feel like you just rejected me?"
"Miss, you misunderstood. It's not that."
"Then, you want to, right?" evelyn's two eyes now seemed to sparkle.
"But I'm this-"
"Would you accept my friendship request or not? I really want to be friends with you."
Silent.
No response from Alvin. The young man seemed silent for a few seconds. To be honest he felt a little surprised when he found out that there was a rich and perfect woman like Evelyn who offered to befriend him.
'Should I just take it?' inner Alvin.
Alvin was clearly agitated. Think again. Since their first meeting, Alvin had already felt attracted to Evelyn. How could he be friends with that girl now. Then what if Evelyn later finds out how Alvin feels about her. Alvin was sure that the girl would definitely stay away from him after this.
Evelyn could clearly see the doubt on Alvin's face. The girl secretly smiled. What the fuck. Even to be friends with Alvin alone he got so hard like this. This young man was indeed different from other men.
"Oh Alvin, don't let me feel disappointed by your answer" Evelyn smiled blandly.
Alvin looked at Evelyn fixedly and sighed deeply then smiled. "Yes, I'm ready. We can be good friends from now on."
"really?" Evelyn smiled happily. "Thank you."
Alvin could only smile a little in response to Evelyn's attitude.
To be honest, there was actually no reason for Alvin to refuse Evelyn's request to be her friend. Evelyn's a good person. The girl did not even look at her social status to befriend her. But somehow Alvin just felt there was something odd to be around Evelyn as a regular friend.
He really did not want Alvin to know if he felt like Evelyn. That's the main thing that scared Alvin. He was really afraid that if he and Evelyn were friends, the feeling of interest would grow into love and grow bigger as their friendship grew.
And he was too self-conscious to feel that in a perfect woman like Evelyn. Alvin knew that in the end he would be trapped even tormented by his own feelings. Alvin could only lower his head at the thought of that.
Meanwhile, Evelyn seemed to be smiling happily. He pushed his empty bowl which he had just finished enjoying. He grabbed a glass, drank his drink and put it back on the table.
"What if I asked you now" Evelyn said breaking Alvin's daydream.
Alvin looked at Evelyn, smiled then nodded his head. "Please. You want to ask what?"
"Well, I'm actually curious about one thing" Evelyn said.
"What is that?"
Evelyn straightened up and brought her body closer to Alvin, looking at Alvin with a probing look. "I wonder, why are you willing to accompany me to lunch now?"
Alvin retreated his body and lowered his head nervously. It felt half-deadly when stared at by a girl as beautiful as Evelyn at this close distance.
"Well, I thank you for being with me. But I wonder what reason you accepted my invitation."
"That's because the lady herself asked me directly. Besides, I happen to have time to accompany you as well. It wouldn't feel good if I refused, would it?."
Evelyn clucked. "That's not the answer I expected from you."
"Huh?"
Evelyn crossed her arms on the table looking like she wanted to have a serious talk with Alvin.
"Look, for someone who looks smart, you don't hesitate to go out with someone you've even known for a few days." Evelyn spoke her mind.
Alvin frowned. He did not understand what Evelyn was saying at this moment.
"So I mean, we've even met a few times. Then how can you easily come with me now."
Evelyn's question was able to make Alvin blink his eyes and turn his gaze to the empty chicken porridge bowl before him. Instantly he became misbehaved because honestly, he did not know what to answer.
Suddenly, a reality hit Alvin hard.
Evelyn was right.
They just got to know each other. How could he like Evelyn like this? Who gave Alvin the right to feel attracted to the beautiful girl. If you think, he has absolutely no right to like a girl as perfect as Evelyn.
"Yes, you are right. Actually I just want to be polite at your invitation." replied Alvin as he was.
Evelyn nodded. "yes too. As far as I know you, you're too polite."
Alvin frowned confusedly. Whether it was a compliment to Alvin or not.
"I was the one who forced you to have lunch with me earlier." Evelyn chuckles.
"No problem, miss. Here, I am also the one who is willing to accompany you, right?!" Alvin said politely.
Yeah, Evelyn admitted that Alvin was too good. He realized how extraordinary the young man's heart was after seeing the incident where Alvin was humbled by his former lover at the nightclub but he was not even angry at all.
Evelyn so imagined if her former lover dared to humiliate her like that she would definitely finish him off right then and there. According to Evelyn, Alvin's ex-lover must get the right reply for his bad behavior.
Didn't that stupid girl get her reward?
Do not forget that Evelyn has secretly helped avenge the actions of Alvin's ex-lover by pouring drinks on him.
Remembering that Evelyn just chuckled to herself then looked at Alvin with an enthusiastic look.
"Actually I know why you didn't refuse my lunch and just agreed."
"Yes?" Alvin smiled confusedly.
"Of course it's because I'm beautiful and rich, right?" evelyn said proudly.
Alvin.
He was a little surprised when he heard the confident sentence that came out of Evelyn's mouth.
"That's why, isn't it?"
"h-huh?"
Alvin did not dare to answer. Even though what Evelyn said was true. Evelyn is beautiful and rich.
It's fact.
No one can deny that.
"It seems like my guess is correct. You didn't reject my invitation because I'm beautiful and rich. So there's no way that I want to cheat let alone mess with you. You trusted me. Yeah, right?" evelyn said at length.
Alvin nodded awkwardly, "Less so. Besides, we had also met a few days before, right? We already know each other."
Evelyn just smiled at Alvin's behavior which she thought was very funny.
"But listen! If the one who took you away was someone else. Besides me. Then you can't just accept it right away. That's very dangerous. You tau? So don't trust strangers as you do right now, let alone women."
"Why is that, miss?"
"You'll be doomed to meet another woman." whispered Evelyn.
"That's how it looks, all right, miss." Alvin just nodded.
To be honest, Alvin also did not know what to answer because after all in fact all this time he always believed in others. And so far no one has ever done anything bad to him.
While Evelyn was secretly smiling proudly to herself. This was his plan from the beginning. Befriend Alvin, then vilify other women. That's because he doesn't want Alvin to be close to any girl. Evelyn plans to keep Alvin away from the girls who will try to tease him.
For him, this is the only way. There is no other way to get close to Alvin without being distracted by the seductive girls.
"Are we done?" evelyn asked Alvin moments later.
"Ah, i-yes." Alvin nodded then got up when he saw the girl rise.
Alvin frowned when he saw Evelyn stepping towards the owner of the stall.
"Wait a minute, miss! Miss want what?"
Evelyn turned her head and lifted her purse, showing it to Alvin. "You pay. Especially her?"
"No, miss. I'll pay." said Alvin stepped up after Evelyn but it was too late because the girl had already paid.
"Father just take the change" Evelyn said kindly to the owner of the porridge stall after giving a piece of money a hundred thousand.
"I paid for it. Okay, let's go!" take Evelyn while reaching into her bag looking for car keys, ignoring Alvin who is still gawking while holding his wallet.
