Chapter 42. Lunch for King

Madame Maggie returned to her home after her meeting with Mr. Philips was over and managed to reach an agreement, she asked the man to keep it a secret first to Rani or Gaby, because I wanted to surprise them both.

Seeing the busyness in the kitchen of her house, Madame Maggie only saw a moment ago berbit to return to her room.

“Do Grandmas not want to join us here?” Persuade Rani, seeing the grandmother walking towards her room to rest.

“There is already Mala helping you there, you can do it with her and Gaby.” Grandma before disappearing behind the door.

“Hmm, even though this morning Grandma was very excited to invite me to help her cook. Now even go away,” said Rani staring at the closed door of the grandmother's room.

Gaby just laughed in response, she then sighed Rani's shoulder and invited her to finish cooking that morning. “Come on, we have to be quick. Before eleven o'clock, all must be ready.”

“Alright, I understand. Now show me how, what do I do with this broccoli?” rani said she showed a plastic package in her hand containing small pieces of broccoli.

While in her room, Maggie's mistress was opening her iron safe which was sheltered behind her dresser. Where there are many precious things in it. Land letters, pieces of gold bars, and other securities are also some of his savings books.

He pulled out his savings book, put it on the nightstand and then closed the safe back as before. Madame Maggie laid her body on the bed, and smiled as she closed her eyes slowly.

There was something different about lunch that day. Workers filled the kitchen of Maggie's spacious main house and ate voraciously, praising the day's cooking. But darling, King doesn't seem to be with them.

While Andre chose to rest in his room after his legs sprained due to falling from the horse. The man was supposed to thank King, because King helped him tame his horse so as not to make him hurt worse.

“Already expected,” the words were thrown out of Rani's mouth when she heard the story of one of the workers who reported the accident that Andre had experienced while riding.

“You look very happy to hear it,” Gaby said, seeing Rani's lips reviewing a cynical smile.

“He is not good at horseback riding, but dares to challenge King. The man fell down every time he tried to ride on the back of his horse. Even if he could jump up, it was because someone else was helping him and trying to calm his horse. If he can last longer sitting up there, I make sure it happens for only five minutes.” Rani said, she grabbed her drinking glass and gulped the contents until half of it was left.

“You know him very well, he tries to attract your attention even though you always ignore him.” Gaby said, staring at Rani for a moment.

The corner of Rani's lips lifted, she rubbed her lips with the back of her hand. “Two years we were together, I really know how everyday she is.”

“I hope he does not suffer a broken leg or other serious injury,” Gaby said showing his side of concern for Andre's fate.

“Only sprained, will not make him feel at home for a long time in his room. Unless there is something that makes him have to languish there,” replies Rani, finishing her last bribe. “At least we can eat quietly here, without having to look at her sickening face and behavior.”

Gaby gave a smile at Rani's last words, she no longer extended the conversation about Andre and preferred to finish her meal.

“There are two men who are not here, who is he you mean. King or Andre?” gaby asked with a seductive mimic.

Rani swished with pursed lips. “You already know the answer.”

Gaby laughs, “King is in the fields, collecting hay and lost cattle with some workers.”

“How did you know about it, weren't you with me in the kitchen of this house?” rani asked with a frown.

“Hary told me, King took some workers with him. If you're worried about whether King will starve there, you can send him food.”

“It looks like Hary's relationship with the workers in this place is improving again, and your attitude towards him is starting to soften. Has he managed to reach your heart and get his love in return?” rani asks back to tease Gaby.

Gaby's face flushed red, “I'm trying to open my heart to her, her attitude has changed a lot and she no longer acts as annoying as before.”

“I'm glad to hear it, I'll send lunch to King. But what about the other workers? I can't bring food to King alone,” said Rani, looking to sigh.

“Quiet, You don't have to worry about them. Before leaving, they always prepare lunch first. That's why Maggie's mistress lets the workers cook their own food during holidays like this,” Gaby explained.

The next minute Rani is busy arranging food containers and preparing drinks for King, while Gaby is assisted by the housekeeper Madame Maggie busy cleaning the leftovers of the workers.

Rani changed her clothes with a short-sleeved sweatshirt and denim shorts above the knee, and replaced her sandals with sneakers. Not to forget the wide hat to protect his face from the heat of the sun, because the weather out there is hot. If he reflected, his face would look tense even though his appearance looked younger and fresher.

Rani drives an open tub car to the fields, chooses to go alone and refuses to be escorted. He drove his car at moderate speed, dust flying behind him as he passed through the rocky and arid road.

Along the way he spoke for himself, composing words when he met King. He hopes the man will change his attitude after seeing his arrival by bringing lunch for him.

Rani pulls over her car when she sees King driving his tractor in a chest. The man was alone in the middle of the field. His sturdy body is wet with sweat, looks shiny when exposed to sunlight.

“King!” Rani jumps down from her car, yelling at King while waving her hand.

King turned off his tractor engine, frowning at Rani who was running towards him with food in her hand.

According to his heart, it felt like running to welcome and then hugging him tightly. But that's impossible because Rani's not hers. There was someone waiting for him at home, considering that it made his chest like sliced and the smile that had risen on his lips slowly faded away as Rani's presence nearby.
