My Beloved Cowboy's

My Beloved Cowboy's
Chapters 19. Agree to work back at Maggie's farm

Gaby kept her head down, hiding the wound on her face. He did not want Mr. Philips to know his true state because there were other bruises on his body, then worried about him. Gaby did not want to add to the burden of her father's mind who is now often sickly.

Gaby only told her father that she slipped because of the slippery road, and her face hit a wooden board in front of her.

Rani thinks she must have misheard, it's unbelievable to see Gaby come home in a hurry with a frightened face. Is it possible that hitting a wooden plank can scare people?

“Actually I came here because I wanted to meet and talk to you.” Rani sighed, staring at the wound on the corner of Gaby's lips. “But it looks like I have to postpone it, you better just rest. I'll see you next time.”

Rani bids farewell to Mr. Philips who is resting in his room, and the man sends his regards to his grandmother. “Will I say, Sir. Thank you for accepting well my presence in this house.”

Rani turns around and walks towards the exit, where Tony is waiting for her. But Gaby's hand held her arm. The lips seemed to shake, he looked at Rani with teary eyes.

Rani can't ignore it, she asks Tony to wait for her while he talks to Gaby.

“I don't know who I should talk to.” And Gaby's tears spilled, she bit her lips holding a sob that urged her out.

“Yes God, what exactly happened to you. Why is it that until you get hurt like this, does that guy hit you and force you to do things you can't?”

Rani guides Gaby's hand, taking her to sit on one of the chairs. And the woman seemed to grimace with the pain. Rani is surprised, Gaby pulls down the arm of her shabby shirt. There was a clear bluish color there.

Gaby shook her head strongly, “I need a job, and I can no longer lose my job. Dad is sickly and we don't have enough money to treat his lung cancer.”

“What injury you have had has to do with work problems, did your boss do it?”

“Mr Parker, she's the manager at my place of work.” That's all Gaby said, but it's enough for Rani to understand what's really going on.

Seeing Gaby's condition and the bruising on her arm as well as the bloody corner of her lips, Rani is not sure Gaby is able to put up a fight. Especially after hearing her complaints about losing her job.

“I heard you're going to sell this farmhouse of yours, and there's been a bargain at a high price.”

Gaby shakes her head again, “There is no payment at all, no binding money either. The businessman is still waiting for approval from the bank if the loan he submitted is approved, then a transaction will be held. But until now we have not heard from him,” Gaby said.

Rani is relieved to hear that, there is hope for her grandmother who wants to take over the Gaby family farm with the intention of helping the family.

Now Rani just needs to deliver her grandmother's message to Gaby, without offending anything else.

“Grandma wants you back to work on the farm, your strength is very much needed there. I can't take too long to help my grandmother replace the job you left behind, because I have other jobs in town. Don't be afraid, Hary won't dare bother you anymore. And you can stay with your father at the farmhouse, with the other workers.”

Rani holds Gaby's hand, smiling at her. “You need not be ashamed let alone feel guilty, because it is not your fault.”

“Does Madame Maggie still want to take me back to work on her farm?” gaby asked, those eyes shining expectantly.

“Of course, that's why I came to see you here. Grandma wants you back to work for her,” Rani said.

“But I have to speak first to Mr. Parker, it is impossible to just leave from there.” Gaby looked agitated, and the look of fear was visible again.

Although he did not want to interfere in the affairs of others, but his conscience revolted. He can't just stand by while a weak woman needs help and he can.

“Just relax, we will help you talk to him.”

“We? You mean?”

Rani walks out of Gaby's house, her heart a little relieved that Gaby finally agrees to go back to work on her grandmother's farm. One problem solved.

“Do you know Mr Parker, the manager at the animal feed store where Gaby works?” ask Tony Rani.

“Ya,” replied Tony briefly.

“Tell me who he really is,” go after Rani again, curious to hear Tony know the man.

“Are you interested in working with him?” Tony held back his smile.

“Ish! I just want to know why he dared to hurt Gaby.” Rani poked her lips.

Cekittt!

Tony braked suddenly his car, “Is it true he did it to Gaby?”

Rani is surprised, Tony stops suddenly. But even more surprising, Tony's story about Mr. Parker followed.
