Chapter 34: Two Different Paths

Sulis and Ahmad have walked together so far, passing through various obstacles and trials. They have formed a strong bond and strengthened each other on their journey towards realizing their dreams. However, at this point, they are aware that there are two different paths that they need to choose.

Sulis, who has long aspired to become a teacher, wants to continue her studies in college and earn an education degree. Since their meeting under the shady tree, Sulis and Ahmad felt a strong bond between them. Sulis, who is known as a cheerful and intelligent girl, sees the sadness hidden behind Ahmad's smile. Nonetheless, Sulis knew how difficult it was to offer help to someone who seemed so steadfast.

A few days later, Sulis and Ahmad met by chance in the city library. Sulis saw Ahmad was taking some books on psychology and self-help. When Ahmad saw Sulis, his eyes immediately sparkled like pearls found on the seabed.

"Interesting yes, the choice is about these books" Sulis said with a smile.

Ahmad was surprised by Sulis' interest in his books. He felt happy and moved because usually people actually ask about his troubled personal life and rarely anyone is interested in activities that secretly become therapy for him.

"Ah, yes. I have an interest in psychology and self-help. I tried to learn about how to deal with life's problems, and these books gave a good picture" Ahmad replied, pointing out some of the books to Sulis.

Sulis looked at the list of books that Ahmad had chosen, but did not want to ask too many questions at one time. He wanted to give Ahmad a little space to trust him.

"I also like to read about self-development and how to deal with problems" Sulis said lightly. "If you need people to talk about it, I'm here."

Ahmad bit his lips and his lips began to tremble. Sulis felt his heart slashed when he saw the expression full of sadness on Ahmad's face. He wanted to give warmth and encouragement to Ahmad who was at the lowest point of his life.

"Please, don't show your sorrow, Ahmad" Sulis said softly. "Know that you are not alone. You can live it all, and I'm here for you."

Ahmad was stunned to hear the warm words and touched his heart. Sulis has tremendous power in strengthening the hearts of others, and Ahmad feels very lucky to have met him.

In the next few weeks, Sulis and Ahmad began to travel together. They take a walk in the park and sit together on the beach at sunset. Sulis continued to give support and encouragement to Ahmad, while Ahmad felt more comfortable being able to open his heart to Sulis. He shares his past, his struggles, and the sense of loss that still haunts him.
