Evelyn's Regret

Evelyn's Regret
Thirty Eight

"Noah please call Eve" said mama Noah interrupted to calm Cilla who was crying while continuing to say 'mama'

"What did ma do?" It was the first time Cilla had cried hysterically like this and of course Noah panicked. But calling Evelyn was not a wise solution, considering it was past midnight. Noah also did not want to trouble Evelyn for her personal matters.

"Cilla nyariin Evelyn Nak, Cilla must have stopped if Eve came" Mama Noah looked upset. The cry of the little girl never subsided. She kept calling my mom and looking with her eyes.

"Not necessarily Cilla nyariin Eve ma, she must miss Syahira" Denied Noah quickly, he now took over his daughter hoping to calm the little girl.

"But never before has I believed this since Syahira did not exist. You saw for yourself how happy Cilla met and did not want to be separated from Evelyn? mama's sure you heard Cilla call Eve mama" Mama Noah looks anxious at the insensitive child.

"But this is the night ma, it's not good to take Eve" said Noah finally, although he did not deny the mother's remark that Cilla was looking for Evelyn.

"Dear to mama?" Noah asked softly, in response to a nod by Cilla who looked teary-eyed.

"See the picture, right?" Fresh Noah, unfortunately Cilla returned to crying while shaking his head.

"Let mama call Evelyn if you don't dare" insisted the mother.

"Ma Eve has a life of her own. We can't trouble him with things that don't have anything to do with him" Noah remained firm on his stance that didn't want to involve Evelyn in his affairs.

"Dear, let's find mama" persuaded Noah while wiping the top of his daughter. He went to the room to get his car keys.

"Where are you taking Cilla? meet Evelyn?"

"No ma, Noah wants to take a walk around until Cilla goes back to sleep" replied Noah while walking out. Cilla's cry slowly stopped as Noah said he was going to look for her, but her sobbing was still occasionally heard.

Noah sat down in a place that was the resting place of Shahira for one year. Now the good woman was lying there after struggling with her illness.

When Cilla was one and a half years old Syahira was known to have advanced lymph cancer. Syahira ignored every symptom that attacked until finally discovered too late, cancer cells have spread to vital organs so that all healing efforts can not help him. Up to 6 months later Syahira succumbed to her illness.

"Shahira, Evelyn has returned. Cilla has also met. As you wish Cilla seems to like Eve very much and calls her mama as you always teach." Since Cilla was born Syahira was so keen to introduce Cilla to Evelyn, he continued to teach Cilla to mention mama while showing a photo of the girl. Syahira never cared every time Noah protested over what his wife did. At this time Noah understood the purpose of Shahira who seemed to have sensed that he would not long accompany Cilla.

"Sir Noah" A pat on his shoulder made Noah turn his back. A surprised look adorned her face finding Evelyn in front of her.

"Ehem Eve, why are you here?" Noah curses his stupid question. Of course Evelyn was on a pilgrimage at her mother's tomb which was only a few blocks from the tomb of Shahira. Noah regrets his visit today, he did not take into account the possibility of meeting Evelyn.

Previously Evelyn who had finished telling the mother moved from the tomb. As he was about to leave the place he caught a very familiar figure sitting in front of a tomb. His sense of urgency whackled him about the tomb of who Noah was coming to. A thought flashed about the figure that Noah was visiting, reinforced with Cilla's attitude when bertu with her. But Eve immediately dismissed the thought, so he chose to approach Noah to ascertain his curiosity.

He ventured to say hello to Noah, looking shocked in the man's eyes. Her voice trembled as she answered her question making Evelyn even more suspicious. Evelyn turned her face towards the headstone, like being hit by tens of kilos her head felt heavy and her heart felt pierced when she saw the name of Shahira plastered there. Her tears fell, she could not stand it. He did not expect to find this, Syahira's beautiful face and smile reflected in his eyes. The full utterances of the supplications of Shahira alternately echoed in his ears. Evelyn felt her body was boneless until she sat down with eyes not loosely staring at the tombstone.

"Why? what's the matter? brother Syahira?" Evelyn's lips kept on scolding, not believing it felt like the woman had been gone for good. He really hopes that he is dreaming right now.

Evelyn turned to look at Noah

"So this is wrong, right? I saw it wrong? this can't be Syahira, right?" He hoped Noah's objection would be what he saw.

"It's real Eve, Syahira was gone a year ago" Evelyn again intrigued, she did not expect the answer to come out of Noah's lips. He wanted Syahira to be fine so that he could continue to accompany and make his Noah happy.

"Why did your sister leave? brother should have kept him. Syahira's a very good wife, why didn't sister hold her back?" Noah was fixated on Evelyn's questions and cries, recalling the moment when Shahira cried and said the same words when Evelyn left.

"It wasn't me who let her go Eve, but her destiny was written so. What should I do to fight him? I've fought as I could" Evelyn embraced the headstone of Shahira, the woman who once offered her a fraternal relationship.

"Sir Why did you leave? I haven't had time to thank you for all the kindness of my sister to me yet" Evelyn said. When viewed from the blood relationship Syahira is no one but the loss of Eve did not expect to feel this ruined.

"I'm sorry I left without saying goodbye, sorry I haven't had time to say that I love you. Sorry I can't keep up with my sister's request"

"Syahira has calmed down there Evelyn, she is so happy to have known you. Don't regret what ever happened. All are already in line" Noah rubbed Evelyn's shoulder which still continues to sob.

"I'm sorry if it ever made you uncomfortable. Don't be burdened by his words and requests first" said Noah again.
