Evelyn's Regret

Sixteen

Noah smiles bitterly as he crosses paths with Eve after 3 days ago he ended their relationship. Not seeing the sadness on the girl's face made Noah even more sore.

The girl's face still sparkled and smiled sweetly at him. Doesn't Eve like herself having trouble sleeping because she always imagined her memories with Eve? Doesn't Evelyn feel like she's losing habits that they no longer do?

Noah took a quick step, swallowing back the words of greeting he was about to throw at Eve. He did not want to look pitiful in front of Eve who had dumped him.

Without Noah knowing Evelyn was staring at her back with a bitter smile. He was powerless to call Noah.

"Where's Ve?" Aira resuscitated Evelyn from her daydream.

"What?"

"You go after Noah and ask for his return or..." Evelyn shook her head quickly before Aira finished her speech.

"I'm doing fine. The sense of loss is indeed Ra, but I am also comfortable like gini. I am free to do what I want without burdening anything" said Eve with a smile full of confidence.

"You sure?" Aira looked doubtfully at Eve.

"That's sure. You don't know what it's like to be me Ra, almost 4 years of my life taken by Noah. Living under Noah's strict rules. Asking Noah back is tantamount to asking to be back in prison."

"But you're still in love, right?"

"The feeling of wanting to be free is greater than love itself Ra. So I don't want to pawn my freedom for a love I can slowly lose" Evelyn said with complete confidence.

"Hopefully your decision is right and there will be no regrets later Ve. I'm afraid you're sorry while the opportunity has been lost"

"The men of this world are not just Noah Ra. Maybe my love for Noah was just monkey love. I can still like and be in a relationship with other men" Aira flicked her shoulders. He gave up, Evelyn was too stubborn for him to influence.

Behind the wall there was Noah still holding the pain in his heart due to all the words that slid from Eve's lips. Her sense of wanting to go was outnumbered by the curiosity of Eve's current feelings so she chose to stay behind the wall to listen to the conversation between Evelyn and Aira. Noah did not expect the pain to be so terrible.

Evelyn's words had broken Noah's heart to pieces. Her feelings were ripped apart by Evelyn's confession about her views on the relationship that had been established so far.

With a haggard look Noah steps his feet away from the campus where there is a much loved girl who is hurting him. He reassured his heart, making up his mind on the decision he had made.

"Are you sure Noah?" The mother looked pityfully at Noah who was packing his clothes into the suitcase.

"Okay, this is the best for Noah's heart at this time" Noah said.

"Are you sure you don't want to wait until graduation?"

"Noah uda can't be here anymore ma, the longer it will hurt Noah. Graduation is not very important anymore for Noah, which is important for his diploma"

The mother tried to understand the condition of her broken heart.

"Whatever your decision papa and mama will always support you son. Don't be a weak man, don't be too long in sadness. Life is still going on"

"Don't hate Eve, huh?" Noah looked expectantly at his mother after his father came out of Noah's room.

"Noah was calm. Mama can understand you guys are too young, breaking up is natural son. Mama can't possibly be childish by hating Eve. Disappointed for sure but mom does not want to maxain the baby."

Noah breathed a sigh of relief. Although Evelyn incised a deep wound in her heart but she did not want her mother to hate Evelyn because she had been the most important part of her life, Evelyn had once given her happiness.

Noah will leave the city where there are so many memories that he has assembled with Evelyn. Staying here was stifling, Noah chose to accept his papa's offer to hold a branch of their own company in a small town. Noah hopes he can bury all his dreams with Evelyn and start a new life, piecing together new memories with different people.

Noah could only pray and hope that his heart would not freeze and be able to love again. He assures himself that there are still women out there who can bring happiness to him.

Later tonight is his departure, there's still a few hours. Noah decides to meet someone, and this is where he is now on the porch of a house waiting for its owner to come out.

"Well?" The girl who was none other than Aira, Eve's best friend looked surprised by the presence of the man.

"Hi Ra, I'm sorry if I interrupted your break"

Noah tried to smile as best he could.

"What's up, Noah? Oh, what do you want to drink?"

"No need for Ra. I'm just a minute" Noah held Aira back in to get her a drink.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" Aira looked questioningly at her best friend's ex-lover.

"I'm going to leave Eve, Ra. Take care of him not to let anything bad happen to him. Because I uda can't do it" Aira frowned confusedly at Noah's words.

"You know Evelyn just found her happiness with you, I hope you can always be there for her."

"Your relationship is breaking up doesn't mean you can't win, right?"

"For now I can't be around him Ra. I'm sure you know how deep I feel about Eve. In this condition my heart is not used to receiving everything. That's why I'm going far away Ra. Please take care of him and I leave this" Noah handed a blue box to Aira who seemed to be agape in surprise at Noah's decision.

"You don't want to see him before you go?"

Noah nodded

"I can't Ra. Please give me this after I leave town. Although for Evelyn the departure of me will not have any effect on her but I beg you not to tell her before I actually leave. I have to put my heart back together without Evelyn Ra"

"But where are you going?"

"To somewhere Ra. I say yes, I'm sorry if I'm wrong with you" Without waiting for Noah's answer to rush away from Aira who was still fixated. Aira was worried between obeying the word Noah or not. His heart was tingled to tell Eve this time as well.

But Evelyn's remark earlier this afternoon made the girl doubtful, plus the face of Noah's plea made Aira undo her intentions. If Evelyn is no longer able to return to Noah then the man has the right to seek his happiness in others.
