The Dispute is Not Over

Arriving at home, Kevin approached his parents who were sitting watching television. They look fun watching favorite soap operas that have been followed since the first episode. Kevin wondered why the ancients could not move on from toxic soap operas that did not humanize humans. Moreover, the number of episodes that have touched episode 1000 with a storyline that is increasingly making it up and not tricked.

“Have you delivered Ailey safely to her house?” Ask the father to realize the return of his son.

“Daddy just relax, safe. Hehe. By the way thank you, yes for welcoming Ailey well at the restaurant earlier.” Said Kevin.

“Do not misunderstand! Not that I bless you both.”

Kevin was stunned to hear that. He tried to understand his father's attitude.  Though the first meeting between his parents and Ailey went well. There was nothing wrong with dinner. So why did you suddenly say that?

“Daddy mean how?” Ask Kevin to make sure.

“Begini, Ailey is a good girl. Dad has no doubt about it. But you know, ‘kan how important your matchmaking with the children of the Marliani family?” Continue father.

“I guess we've agreed not to discuss it again. I'm not bringing it up.” Kevin was upset.

“It's okay if you cancel your match. Provided you get a replacement with a better social status than Lina Marliani.” I don't care what Kevin feels.

Kevin tried to hold back the emotions in front of his father. His face looked angry hearing the father who still wanted to match him just to maintain social status. It felt like he wanted to say rudely but he couldn't do it to his own father.

“In addition, I do not want the Abram family's pride smeared because of the presence of women with HIV in our family.” Said affirm.

Kevin was surprised to hear that, “Dad knows where?”

“It doesn't matter. If you don't get a better replacement, I suggest you go back to Lina. Think carefully.” He said as he left the family room.

The sound of television speakers was clearly heard due to the silence that arose after the debate. Kevin lowered his head with clenched hands smashing into the sofa he was sitting on. There was clearly anger in the man.

The mother who felt sorry for her son immediately moved to sit next to him. She hugged her son warmly while stroking his black hair.

“Mom knows you love Ailey so much. But, there's no harm in filial piety to your father. At least, give him happiness at the end of his age which is no longer long.” Said mother softly.

“Mother, I also want to be happy.” Kevin said with a trembling voice.

“Happy your father, son. He already suffered greatly from cancer that sentenced his life.” Speak to my mother while shedding tears.

Kevin could only hide his cries in pain. All this time, he had sacrificed too much of his life for the Abrams family. I just want him to take his own path. However, the condition of the convicted father can only survive for another 3 months clearly cannot be considered trivial. If colon cancer had never been suffered by the father, he would have firmly rebelled against the rules that bound his life.

The scorching morning reflected the heat into Lina's work room. While eating fresh fruit pieces that he bought at the minimarket, the woman checked every email that came in to prepare for her work that day.

There was a knock from the door of his room. Kevin opens the door and enters Lina's office. Without saying much, she pulled up a chair and sat down in front of Lina who was confused to see the man.

“What did you say to my parents?” Kevin asked with a straight look into Lina's eyes.

“What do you mean?”

“Do not pretend to be stupid! You told my parents Ailey's illness, didn't you?!”

Lina placed the plate containing the pieces of fruit on the table. He wiped his lips with a tissue as if he was stalling for time to give an answer to Kevin's question.

“Jawab me!” Kevin's orders are impatient.

“Iya, I told them.” Lina said casually.

Kevin's breathing sounded irregular. Anger overflowed from within him until it rose to the tip of his head. It felt like he wanted to explode and spew lava of anger at the woman.

“Why did you do that?” Ask Kevin.

“Did I mislead the truth? After all, sooner or later they will also know who exactly the woman who took you from me.”

“You're crazy, yeah! You have no right to do that. Even if they have to know the truth, let me and Ailey tell them!” Kevin sounded annoyed.

“From your tone, it looks like your parents did not approve of your relationship.” He said with a satisfied smile.

“Stop meddling in my life! Otherwise..” Gertak Kevin.

Lina stood up from her work chair and put on a sour face. “If it's okay? Wanna fire me? Not satisfied with the Warning Letter you gave me at that time?”

“Here I am in power. I'm free to do whatever it is. Don't forget you're dealing with CEO Abram!” Said Kevin full of emotion while standing upright in front of him to make the chair he was sitting on shifted with a loud voice.

“You also do not forget that almost half of Abram Corporation shares are owned by the Marliani family.” The reply.

The two of them looked at each other sharply. Silence ruled the room for a few seconds as if they were at war using their respective minds. Ironically, two people who have combined love are now like enemies looking for each other's weaknesses. There was clearly bitterness lodged between the two.

“Talking about the truth, you want to know the truth that I haven't told you so far?” Kevin continued with gasps. “I've never liked you. Your sister, Lanny, is even better than you.”

Kevin's words ended the discussion between the two of them. He immediately left Lina's study without letting her return the hurtful words. Unfortunately, the man did not close the door of the room so that everyone could see an annoyed expression from Lina's face and feel an aura of tension emanating from within the room.

Lina was still standing glued. All this time he has realized that his relationship with CEO Abram is only because of business goals. However, he did not expect that Kevin dared to say that, let alone Lina compared to her own sister. His pride was torn to shreds for the umpteenth time. Inevitably, evil thoughts danced over the woman's head.

“Look at it, you'll regret embarrassing me. If you can't have me, then other women can't have you either.” Murmured Lina with a soft voice.
