Kevin's Parents

The sound of vehicle horns crowded the protocol road that night. Cars and motorcycles scramble to take the lane because they can't wait to get out of traffic. The noise of Jakarta is truly unforgivable.

“Already this hour, how is this?” Kevin complained in the steering chair.

“Where are we going, Vin?” Ask Ailey.

“Evening like I said.”

“Cause. I'm not too hungry yet, kok.” Ailey's words are calming.

“That's not the problem. Hmm...” Said Kevin doubtfully.

“Hmm why? Is there something you're hiding from me?”

Kevin tapped his finger on the wheel. He swallowed his nervousness. Something was hidden from the man.

“Tell me!” Force Ailey.

“Iya, yes! Actually I also invite my parents to eat with us.” Answer panics.

“What?! Why didn't you say something this important?”

“Jam 7's. About 5 minutes left.” Kevin said riled.

“Kevin! How'this? Where do I want to put my face???” Ailey is hysterically screaming.

“Hahaha. Now you are panicking!” Kevin laughed at the woman's reaction.

“Klakson again! Long time, car in front!” Complain Ailey.

Because of the cruel traffic jam in Jakarta at night, the two of them can only curse in the car while paying attention to their respective watches. It seems, Ailey's first meeting with Kevin's parents will be an unforgettable one.

Silence includes a dining table with a wide variety of Japanese cuisine. From sushi, sashimi, takoyaki, to yakitori has been neatly available untouched. The atmosphere formed shows no comfort at all.

“Dad, Mother. This is Ailey.” Sapa Kevin introduced Ailey with a palpitating feeling.

“Goodnight. I'm Ailey. Sorry we are late due to jam.” Ailey said with a sigh.

Both of Kevin's parents did not return a word. They both just silently looked at the two young people coldly. Realizing the less pleasant atmosphere, Kevin tried to melt the atmosphere.

“Wah, you know my favorite food. I go first, yeah!” He said he took sushi with chopsticks in both hands and devoured it.

“Still good? It's been 15 minutes, you know the sushi is on the table.” Syndir the mother.

Kevin was silent as he slowly chewed on the sushi. Every now and then he meets Ailey who is next to him. They both felt bad for Kevin's parents.

Ailey who heard this reflex pinched Kevin's waist until the man frowned in pain. Both of his parents remained silent waiting for Kevin to finish explaining.

“Despite that, Ailey is the only woman capable of lowering my ego. Either he gets magical powers from where to make my arrogance helpless before him. Only he is able to make me like someone sincerely without expecting anything in return.” Kevin explained.

Kevin's mother, who was showing a cynical look, began to change her countenance. He looked at his son with pride and pride. Ailey who noticed the change nudged Kevin and gave a thumbs up behind the table to make Kevin smile a little with relief.

“Ehem!” Dad cleared his throat trying to take over the atmosphere there. “Then the second and third reason?” Further.

“Eh, that..” Ailey was shocked to hear that, she was afraid that Kevin's mother would look down on him because of the way he dressed, just like Lina's treatment of him.

Ailey was astonished to hear this. In fact, he wears these clothes because there are no other clothes in his closet.

“Come, you also eat a lot. Look, your body is so skinny!” Mother said as she put fresh sashimi on Ailey's plate.

“Te...thank you.” Reply Ailey is confused to see Kevin's mother's good temper.

“You're just disturbing the atmosphere. I ‘kan want to be serious.” The father said to the mother.

“Sorry, I can't see them both tensed up like that. Stop this drama, yes.” Answer the mother.

Kevin laughed when he heard it coming out of his parents' mouths. Ailey looked at the situation with relief. He thought both of Kevin's parents would mistreat him. However, he saw a happy smile from the family that calmed his heart.

“So, has Kevin already expressed his love for you?” Ask me I'm curious about Ailey.

“Ah, the.. anu...” Ailey blushed shyly.

Seeing Ailey coming back groggy, Kevin takes over the conversation. “ Father, actually Ailey has not answered my love statement.”

“Wah, so you guys are already dating or not? How could my son dare to introduce a woman to us if we have not established a serious relationship.” Reply father.

“Hehehe. Ailey doesn't like being shot. Our relationship runs organically, just happens.” Kevin continues.

“Dad, already don't make Ailey feel uncomfortable. She must be embarrassed to be asked such a thing by you.” Reproof mom.

That night felt so soul-stressing. The excitement in Ailey's heart has gone to see the familiarity offered by Kevin's family. Especially when looking at the mother, he felt he had found a mother figure that he had not felt for a long time. Happiness seeped into every bone marrow, she was grateful that night to be introduced to Kevin's warm parents.
