Hot coffee served by Ailey on a rickety wooden table. Kevin who sits in the living room with a less comfortable seat cushion can only hold himself to remain relaxed while sipping the coffee served. Ailey sat next to him groggy, for the first time there was a CEO inside that simple house.
“His drinking pants, Sir. The coffee is still hot.” Ailey said.
“Thank you. I'm used to drinking coffee this hot.” Reply Kevin strong-ass.
The two are silent to each other. Silence filled the entire house as nervousness overcame the two of them. Understandably, this is the first time they are in one house without public interference.
“Sorry, you.. HIV?” Ask Kevin badly.
Ailey was shocked to hear the no-nonsense question. Even if he knew that Kevin must have been told by his fiancee, still if asked directly would make a sense of discomfort.
“Betul. Sorry, if it bothers you and other employees.” The answer.
Kevin turned his gaze to the coffee cup that was on the table. His eyes look at the deep black color that is in the coffee.
“I'm sorry.” Kevin's voice was shaking as if he wanted to cry. He recalled his verbal discrimination against HIV sufferers in the presence of the Marliani brothers. “Sorry, because I can't do anything as a CEO.”
Ailey looked at the man without blinking a single bit. He felt the sincerity of every word Kevin spoke. At that time, the prestige of a CEO was replaced with an ordinary, very fragile male figure.
“Thank you for putting aside your big ego to apologize. I've forgiven you, Mr.” Ailey.
Kevin looked at Ailey with teary eyes. Just this time there was a woman who was heartened to face her. If in front of her was another woman, surely that person would have taken the opportunity in a narrowness to topple her, or blackmail her because of the power and wealth she had.
“I should be grateful that you have changed a lot the way I think and behave.” Reply to the man.
Ailey's face flushed red as she heard Kevin's words. Again he felt himself special in the eyes of the man. Either because it's just ge-er or it's wrong.
“It's getting late, sir. You better go home. I'm not good with Miss Lina.” Said Ailey diverting the conversation.
“I don't care.”
Ailey was shocked to hear the words coming out of the mouth of the engaged man. His tongue was unable to say anything. His mind wanders in search of an explanation for the word.
“I like you, Ailey.” Kevin said softly.
Ailey's heart is pounding. His face was heating up as if smoke was coming out of his pores. The woman did not know what to respond to. Actually he was happy at Kevin's confession, but on the other hand, he didn't want to ruin other people's relationships.
“Bapak please go home. It is not nice if there are male guests visiting until night at the house of a woman in a village like this.” He walked up from the chair and towards the door.
Kevin realizes that the time is not right to express his feelings. He also doesn't want Ailey to stay away from him. Therefore, he stood up leaving his chair and prepared to go home.
“Alright, I'll be home. But you should know, only this time did I really like someone sincerely. So, don't stay away from me, yeah!” Obviously Kevin.
Ailey could only look into her eyes filled with certainty. The man did not mess with his words. He could feel that from his words and his gaze.
Not yet had Kevin touch the doorknob, Ailey's father had opened the door first so that made Kevin and Ailey so surprised so surprised.
“Ba...Father, why open the door suddenly?! My heart wants to be taken off!” Said Ailey grogi.
“This ‘kan my own home, why should ask permission to enter?” His ideal.
“Halo, um! I'm Ailey's friend from Jakarta. Greetings!” Kevin said nervously as he shook dad's hand.
“Wah, two men today met my daughter. It seems that you are popular also in Jakarta, yes.” Temptation of the father.
“Pak, not so!” Ailey's reply was wrong.
“Om, I go home first, yes.” Connect Kevin.
“Go home? Far away, you know to Jakarta especially so late. Just stay here.” Bring dad.
Ailey and Kevin were shocked to hear that innocent invitation. Both faces were red.
“It's okay, om! I just go home.” Kevin said forcefully.
“Be...True! Later what the neighbors said there was a man staying at this house.” Ailey Strict.
Dad just sighed. Quickly, he closed the door and locked it. “No one can go home! Young man, you're staying here tonight. It's outrageous that a guest comes from far away and is left to come home these nights.”
“Mr??!!” Ailey is shocked to see her father act like a child. While Kevin who does not know to know just hold his forehead while shaking his head.
“Your father forced. You don't pity to see Kevin come home these nights? If he's sleepy in the middle of the road and then collided with a truck what? You want responsibility?” Father protest.
“Ya, not so, anyway. Ahhh... It's up to you!” Ailey was upset as she left the two men and went into her room.
Dad just laughed a little at the behavior of his son who misbehaved. Every now and then he looks at Kevin and meets his eyes. Kevin could only nod politely feeling uneasy.
“You sleep in the living room is okay, ‘right? Sorry, this house has been a long time. The furniture is old too. Hopefully no problem for you.”
“It's okay, om. I should be the one apologizing for the trouble. Thank you, yes because it is allowed to stay.” Reply Kevin with a sigh.
“Please home yourself. I want to take a shower first, yes.” Said my father, putting his foot. However, just taking a step forward he turned his body around and brought himself closer to Kevin's ears. “How dare you express love to my only daughter. But, your courage is I thumbs up.”
Like an atomic bomb falling on Kevin's head, his face was blushing red. Turns out Ailey's dad stole her talk with Ailey. Because of his grooves, Kevin silently stared unmoved.
“Other times, try you shoot him more romantically. Don't lose to a man named Milo!” God while chuckling.
“Ba..good, om.” Kevin replied as he was, holding in shame.
As soon as Ailey's father walks into the bathroom, Kevin drops himself on a couch that's not so soft anymore. His eyes stared at the lights hanging on the roof while holding back his laughter from the embarrassment of having been caught off guard by his female puja father. His face was still flushed thinking of the declaration of love heard by the father. Apparently, that night Kevin would not be able to sleep peacefully because he felt humiliated by himself.
