Engagement Day

A glass of americano coffee stands upright on the table. CEO Abram was seen sitting pensively uninspired. He just stared blankly at his coffee that had not been touched at all. The crowd of Engelskraft cafe with music that flows from the sound system and the sound of the visitors are not even able to pierce it in the slightest.

“What are you doing here? No shame in ever completing to your employees for ditching this place? Double standard!” It was Milo standing behind Kevin.

“I don't want to make a fuss with you!” Reply with a long breath.

Milo looked at him lazily. He did not want to deal with the arrogant CEO, but he was very curious.

“If you're just lazy in my cafe, you better go back to the office there! My eyes irritated to see you here.” Milo is provoking emotions.

I don't know why, the words made Kevin so full. It seems Milo doesn't completely hate himself. At least, he managed to get Kevin excited for a moment by hearing Ailey's name.

“You don't mess with Ailey!” The CEO of Abram said.

“Wah, as I thought. Your mouth your day. If like this ‘kan be exciting, not good if I compete alone.” Reply Milo while crossing both hands.

Ferdi, who was aware of the tension between the two, began to pick up the horses to immediately wound them both if needed. One of the restaurants located inside the Abram Corporation building looks crowded. Hustle and bustle of people in formal and expensive clothes milling about.

Ailey and Siti who were invited did not dare to go inside. They only watched the line from the front of the entrance.

“Why did Bu Lina invite the two of us to her engagement party, huh? Though we ‘kan only SPG shop.” Ask Siti.

“Entah, I'm surprised too. But the biggest question isn't that, how do we blend in with these undergarments? Look, everyone's wearing expensive dresses!” Ailey's whispers.

Siti who realized this immediately noticed her clothes. He was wearing a white shirt with a floral skirt that he bought at an online store during a promo late last year. Ailey was wearing the pink canal she bought at the morning market.

The two of them entered a luxurious restaurant that had been decorated in such a way. Wreaths are displayed almost on all sides of the room with chandeliers hanging in the middle that display a majestic impression. A round table spread across the restaurant with one table using a golden tablecloth in the middle of the room. It seems the table is for Kevin and Lina and her family.

Before long, Kevin and Lina's family entered the room and occupied that most prominent table. Together with the two families, they sat like royalty.

Accidentally, Ailey and Kevin face off. The man looked at Ailey with a happy smile and gave a small nod to her. It made the woman's heart pound, she only returned with a smile from a distance. Then Kevin turned his face and showed a sour face. The change in the face of the CEO made a question mark on Ailey's mind. Why does it seem Kevin is not enthusiastic about the engagement?

On the other hand, Ailey felt a slight tightness in her heart when she saw Kevin and Lina sitting next to each other. A strange feeling filled Ailey's body bit by bit. At that moment, he realized there was jealousy within him. His chest was tight, yet he could do nothing.

“You okay, Ai?” Ask Siti who saw the gloom on her friend's face.

Lina stood up from her seat. He looked towards Ailey and gave an arrogant look as if he had defeated her. The woman seemed satisfied to have managed to show the engagement party with CEO Abram to the store employee.

“Thank you everyone for taking the time to come to our son's engagement party. It is an honor to host you here. I, as the father of Kevin Abram want to give you the glad tidings that today, Lina Marliani has officially become my only fiancee.” Said an old man who called himself Kevin's father.

A huge applause filled the room. The happy faces of everyone who was there. But not with Kevin, his face grim with a blank look as if he regretted the engagement.

“Therefore, I will give my son time to give a word two before we eat dinner tonight.” Reciprocity.

All guests gave a moment of silence to hear CEO Abram's welcome to his engagement. However, Kevin did not move out of his chair. He just sat there like he was daydreaming. Lina who was next to him realized there was something strange about his fiancee. Not wanting to destroy her dream engagement party, Lina immediately stood up while pulling Kevin's arm. The man nodded and stood up weakly.

“It seems that my fiancee still does not believe in his arrival today. Please understand, yes. He must be so happy like me. We both ask for his blessing until the wedding day.” Lina said with a happy heart.

But Lina was not satisfied until there. He has not felt his engagement validated. The woman raised her left hand to show her a circular engagement ring on her ring finger. Looking at Kevin who was not reacting, he raised Kevin's left hand with his right. Perfectly, both couples have been engaged to the proof of the ring on each other's ring fingers.

All invited guests gave a standing ovation as if they felt the happiness of the couple. However, Ailey's hands were heavy to mix with the rumbling sounds in the room. Her eyes glazed over when she saw Kevin's ring finger already tied by an engagement promise. The tightness felt in his chest grew heavier. Why does he have feelings that should not be given to his own CEO? Her thought.
