The blistering weather that blanketed the city of Jakarta did not deprive Ailey of her falling sweat. His shoulder-length hair began to look limp. Dressed in a shirt and makeshift shoes, Ailey stepped firmly, regardless of the ambushing heat of the capital. He moved from one skyscraper to another in one office area in the south. All he did was because he wanted to get a job right away since he was fired last month because the company he worked for had gone bankrupt. In his hand was the last brown envelope he held very carefully.
“Today just one more cover letter.” He said excitedly in front of a tall building that read Abram Corporation.
Arriving at the reception, Ailey immediately informs her of her arrival. The brown envelope that he was holding, he immediately handed it to the receptionist there after he filled the guest book on the table.
“Amplop what is this?” Suddenly a short-haired woman approached the receptionist and picked up the envelope.
“Oh, Ms. Lina. That's a cover letter from Bu.” Answer the receptionist who was on guard that day.
Ailey notices the woman named Lina. She admired the beautiful face of the woman, even though the makeup was not too thick but still looked natural and charismatic. The work clothes worn were also very fashionable, in contrast to the shirts he wore that he bought in the market near his cost. Plus luxury accessories used from earrings, necklaces, bracelets, to expensive rings add their own charm.
“You are Ailey Subandono, the owner of this cover letter?” He asked with a low look at Ailey while occasionally reading her cover letter.
“Iya, Mom!” Ailey answered loudly and passionately.
Lina looked at Ailey in detail, from head to toe. His face seemed to be unhappy with the existence of that simple woman.
“You think with that appearance your application can be processed? Dress up better if you want to apply at a company like Abram.” Lina said haughtily while returning Ailey's cover letter to the receptionist next to her, then she left confidently.
“Who, the hell is that woman? So hot!” Ailey said to the receptionist in front of her.
“Ssssst, lower your voice! She's head of operations at Abram, Lina Marliani.” The receptionist's timpal.
Ailey immediately reflexively covered her mouth with both hands, “You're joking?” Further.
The receptionist just sighed, “Your application letter will be conveyed to HRD so you can go home now.”
“Only that? I wasn't interviewed?” Tanya Ailey is excited.
“Not so fast the process, if your CV passes the exact qualification of HRD we will contact you. After all, who still sends a CV physically like this? You don't have email?” The receptionist said with anxiety.
“Hehehe, my laptop is on sale. Meanwhile, my phone has run out of internet quota. So how about it again.” Ailey replied with a embarrassed laugh.
Abram Corporation is an electronic property and retail company that has been on the rise in recent years. Five years since the company was established, Abram immediately floated on the stock exchange and has had more than 1000 projects spread in Indonesia. The benefits of working at Abram were many, ranging from hobby allowances, personal vehicles, to official homes. No doubt, many people want to be a part of Abram in order to get a more decent livelihood and satisfy prestige.
Ailey does not expect much because she is only a graduate of SMK, but she always prays to be able to work at Abram, even if only as SPG (Sales Promotion Girl) in one of its branch stores. At least, he can boast in front of his family when returning home to Banyuwangi later.
In the heat of the day, Ailey opened a can of soda and drank it quickly to quench the thirst in her throat. Unexpectedly, a luxury sports car passed through it and blew the emissions from the exhaust right on its face.
“Uhuk uhuk!” Ailey coughed, presumably the soda she drank also choked.
“Hey, crazy people! Don't see if I'm sitting here?” Shouted Ailey protesting to the driver of the car who was stopping because of the red light.
The driver lowered his window. A young man in his late 20s looks back to find out who was screaming. With well-groomed hair and sunglasses on her face, she showed an annoyed face.
“Mbak who just shouted?” Said the man.
“Who do you think I would be if not me? It's not polite to drive a car like that!” Ailey protests.
“Wah, since when can the sidewalk be used as a hangout?” The man does not want to lose.
Ailey's emotions ignited hearing the driver's response. Without any hesitation, Ailey immediately stood up and walked over to the young man. His sour face he deliberately showed hope that the rider apologized to him.
“I have no time to serve people who do not know the function of the sidewalk like you. Bye!” He said while stepping on the gas as soon as the green light showed its mark.
“Hei!!! Brash man!” Shouted Ailey annoyed to see the man running away in his luxury car.
Ailey's cocky sense of trying to get her dulled herself. He did not want his good mood today to be disturbed just because of the arrogant motorist. The can of soda he held he threw into a nearby garbage can as a last outburst of annoyance he had.

Arriving at the boarding house, Ailey immediately showers and cleanses her body of the car's unknowing emissions. Under the shower, Ailey pensively. I don't know what the 25-year-old woman felt, tears dripping down her cheeks and mingling with the water flowing from the shower.
“I miss mister.” Straight away while tightly hugging his own body, “I want to go home.” He nodded while sobbing.
Ailey hasn't been home for 3 years. In addition to the lack of fees to buy a bus ticket, he also felt embarrassed because he had not been able to support himself properly. How could he face his father in the village without bringing anything? If Ailey's mother was still alive, she would have been able to tell stories more freely because of her closeness. Since childhood, Ailey spent so much time with her mother that she felt her mother was a friend to Ailey. Meanwhile, his father was a very hard and firm figure. Nevertheless, Ailey always made her father as a role model of life that he respected and loved.
Actually, Ailey's father didn't allow his son to migrate to the capital. However, due to Ailey's persistence in persuading her father, she promises to return home with a lot of money as proof that she can live independently. His father's heart was softened because he was unable to hold back his son's dream to work in Jakarta. Ailey travels to Jakarta and tries to support herself without asking for a penny from her father.
The capital is more cruel than stepmother, maybe this phrase is suitable for Ailey who has difficulty struggling alone in Jakarta.
